I know most posts with the Aussie flag are Skanky's, most with the Canadian are obiwan
Seeing as one good deed deserves another, I have started to associate the Kiwi flag with Frozzy.

The Civ group icons are actually a usefull link to a list of all the people in that Civ group. I use it all the time, as it shows who's online with the little "light bulb" icons. Very useful for demogames etc.

And I'm using peoples "location fields" to identify them at the moment.

Actually, come to think of it, sometimes seeing the civgroup icons helps if you want to read the PTWDG public forum and all it's flame fests cause it's easier to tell who's on what team. But if you read long enough, it's not usually a problem knowing who's on what team.

I use avatars to find my (or other's ) posts quickly.

But with those out I use the flags. I have the Iraqi flag (since they are part of the U.S. now ), and not too many people have that flag. So I can find my posts quickly.

So I would like one or the other. The civ icons aren't terribly important.

I'd turn both the flags and the civ icons off.
                What?

We could loose the flag I suppose, but an option to turn them off would be better for keeping everyone happy.

an option to turn them off would be better for keeping everyone happy.

That is exactly what I am suggesting, some people seem to think I am suggesting they be turned off for everyone.

I'd be happy to turn the civ icons off. Although I don't have many for a start.

I like 'em all... really miss the avatars, but as somebody mentioned, both of these are the next best thing.

I mean, each civgroup icon isn't in the same order for everybody, they're in the order that you joined. So just think of the possible combinations!

Well, I'd rather have avatars than civ group icons and flags.

Being mostly an OTer, I like the flags, because nationality has to do with an individual's opinion.
I could do without the civgroup icons, but I prefer them on. It's good to see someone's on-topic background
