Also, howcumzit that Poly is down more often than other sites? Especially considering RackSpace's "99.9% Uptime" claims...maybe we could get some money out of suing them

You know how many times I've seen anyone getting banned from any internet forum? Maybe three times.

I also noticed the "we will be back..." thing. I stood there, clicking "reload" from time to time in order to see if it was true... poor me.

More often than not, when you have and continue to see the "database is offline" message when visiting the site it means that a back-up of site content is being made. As such, site services are temporarily suspended in order to allow the process to complete.

This was the case at the time in question. I will most likely be changing the content of the said message to avoid or at least minimize some of the understandable confusion imparted here in the future.

If Poly would cease to exist, it wouldn't be that much of a problem. I myself would just be active elsewhere instead and most others would find other places to go.

Poly's one of only three sites I go to regularly. If it got shut down the internet would be a very boring place for me.

Well then, your experience is radically different from mine. I've been to sites where they would ban you if you posted in the wrong place more than once. The mods here take a lot more cra-er, are much more patient than what I've seen elsewhere.

...and then it was the site, where I posted lots of stuff that should have gotten me banned... but I never got...

It was a very large and well-liked forum and still is... but there where about 2-3 months where everything went to hell for them (Lack of money)... they're doing better now
