Yep, buy it from Yang. I'd like the thought of representing it as a victory for the "Hiverian-minded faction" too. We could call it that, the "Wimps" could call the militants "Hiverians" for their plans and vice versa.

Perhaps even make it out to be a compromise we made to keep the Hiverian-minded from making any more tricks Snoddasmannen did, that jeopardise foreign relations.

It's Sunday, so we should be able to get some semblance of the Angels' attitude towards us in the next 10 - 15 hours (and maybe even execute a trade - or credits - for Gene Splicing before they get it from their techshare ability)

Plus it will give Morgan some more time to negotiate with us before the turn moves on.

As he won't talk this turn, I suggest we just sign off and next turn, when we open it, we'll (presumably) have a Gaian offer of the commlink for 25 ec's (or whatever they ask) stare us in the face when we open the turn.

There's lots of time then to close the diplobox with the offer still there, and try Yang again, and then we can put all our Machiavellien ideas into play with the Gaians.

It's an existing political idea, for an opposition party to have a "Shadow Cabinet" of its own appointment that generally just goes around telling everyone how the government-in-power is doing a poor job of everything. Over here in Finland there's no shadow cabinet per se, but the opposition parties often throw together a "shadow budget" by the end of the year, for the same purpose of criticism.

I think we can forget about buying the Angels' commlink from Yang

I went back to the original turn and opened it and callred Yang (who picked up the phone, so in the real turn i must have contacted him - maybe to try and buy a tech to see what he offered, or something)

He listens to our spiel, asks what we offer for it, then launches his "not trustworthy right-wing luny" rant.

My guess is that's what we'll get from him next turn as well

Illuminatus has confirmed in our Embassy that the Gaians have pout the Angels' commlink on the negotiating table (didn't indicate whether it was pre-accepted or not, nor if they were hiking the price from our suggested 25 ec's)

So we'll be able to contact the Angels either next turn (2142) or the one after

What do we plan to say to them?
