You see, the closer allies are, the more secure they feel in sharing constructive criticism with each other. So you see, The Hive has actually been a very good ally for a very long time."

In an article accompanied with this picture no doubt:

We thought that, by getting elections called, we could get all factions of Planet to reunite and hopefully work together towards world peace and success for our human race.
Us as supporters of a reunited humanity. I can already picture us saying: "What!?! You evil Morganites don't want to give us Industrial Automation, thereby violating the holy UN Charter?? Vendetta on you!"

Kassiopeia: “Not any major proposals, but we‘re monitoring the Gaian/Hiverian conflict very closely.
If the other factions don't have Yang infiltrated, they won't know Hive and Gaia are at war. There's of course the chance that the Gaians will tell everyone anyway after they can contact everyone, but just in case they wouldn't, how about we don't mention this? The more we can keep other factions in the dark, the better for us I guess. Knowledge is Power.
This sentence could for example be changed into a more general :
Kassiopeia: “Not any major proposals, but we‘re monitoring the Hiverian belligerence very closely.
    Would that be all right?

That Iraqi information minister pic just cracks me up everytime I see it.
Civ IV is digital crack. If you are a college student in the middle of the semester, don't touch it with a 10-foot pole. I'm serious.

In their latest paper, the Gaians have been trying really hard to make clear they don't get along with the Hive. It looks like we could go with your original version after all.

        Me too.

PS: Had a little idea for a Phalanx article: how about an article where we announce our new factional anthem: the Imperial March from Star Wars?

        • This whole thread craked me up.

Too bad I'm not the artistic/writer type.

Great work. This really adds to the ambience of our faction.
This is what it means to be a Spartan. It's not the killing or the suffering that matters. It's the purity of focus, without fear of death or pain.

          • Nice to hear you like it. I'll try to get a new issue out next week now that I have the time.

I've got to start working from that. It'd make a great climax to a story. A humour thread in the OTF used a similar story vehicle, it was brilliant.
Cake and grief counseling will be available at the conclusion of the test. Thank you for helping us help you help us all!

            • Glad you like the idea.

Btw, in case we'd want to add some extra volume to the Phalanx issues, how about including parts of our ongoing One Sentence IC Story in the Phalanx? A first part could run until here, or, if we'd want to split it up in more parts, here.

                    • You need to whip them into shape with the:

"We greet each morning with 100 push-ups" routine
                      Attached Files

                      • Hey, I've been thinking, why don't we publish that Phalanx issue that's been sitting on the shelf for so long? Minus the election article, of course. It wouldn't make sense to include that just yet. But I think that if we don't publish the issue soon, it will grow stale and eventually unusable, as the game will have moved on far past the things we talk about in the latest issue. So, what do you guys think?

                        • Speaking of Baghdad Bob, I made this cute little script a while ago:

Maybe the editorial office can do something fun with it

True... I'll see what I can do. I like the idea about using quotes of the OS story. Preferably out of context ones

                            • We have 4 issues out now (?).
That's one every ten mission years.
I just don't want to rush all of our good stuff now, and not have any good material for later issues...

                              • Well, we started out with like an issue every 5 years, and I believe our last issue was almost 20 years ago. Some of the articles are getting pretty outdated (like the ones about Lemmy joining the Spartans. That happened some time ago.) I'm afraid that if we don't publish this latest issue now, we'll have to scrap some of the articles.

Ah yes, the OS story would make for some great reading.
