My welcome to Captain Modo from me as well. I think Snoddasmannen is a Captain too, that's the lowest rank we have for active posters here. I'm the one who ran diplomacy for the first months, I had to take a vacation in November but now I intend to get back to the circuit and see how much damage Googlie has done and if any of it is repairable.

Oh you're right Kass, I am a captain, my bad ... I was nominally demoted to Lieutenant for a short while though, for being a bit too active a poster (see the whole Gaian relations thread for that story)
And of course let's not forget that both Googlie and Maniac have served briefly as curators of the military museum.

Okay, thanks for the warm walcome and for the info. Now, as expected, even more questions come to mind. Also, there's a request. So beware of answering any.
First of all, not having SMAX hurts my understanding of our position in the game. I can't check what is being built where (and how long it will take to finish), I can't check the numbers and stats of our units. AFAIK, I'm not the only Spartan not able to load the save. Having to ask questions is not a solution in the long run. An easy way to help this would be to post the F4 (Production) and F7 screens along with the turn map. This way, one could quickly see what is happening and where. This more precise info just might pull people out of lurking mode, methinks.
There's the thing about the command over those 3 non-combat ships, that was mentioned. How do I do it officially, and where (in which thread)?
Also, is there a thread for long-term military strategy? I only found one concerning domestics so far. I mean military forces development and organization, not so much the invasions going on at the moment. We do have a long-term strategy, right?Seriously. Kung freaking fu.

But it's working well for me. I don't really understand all the micromanagement stuff that goes on anyway. But when something important on the macro-scale does happens, the turnplayers are good at getting screenshots on it.
I have a decent idea of what is going on in the federation, but I can see how it would be difficult for somebody to just jump in and try to get a grasp of the whole thing.
Oh, and I'm curious about where the military museum is located ... Some far off base like Minas Tirith perhaps?

Nice, really nice pics.
How about making it "1st Spartan Transport Corps" in official statements? Sowing some more terror in the puny hearts of other fractions. You know, making it look like we have an "official" transport navy of 3 vessels, plus some more we don't want to talk about.
I found some threads about strategy, but they are all old, and mostly concerned with matters at hand at that time (no, I didn't read all of them from start to finish). Now figuring out which one lead to the current state of Spartan military (not even knowing exactly what the current state is...) would be quite an achievement. So I rather ask.Last edited by Modo44; December 2, 2004, 03:23.Seriously. Kung freaking fu.

If I find the time, I'll put it high on my priority list.
Instead of listing every unit there, I think I'll rework the inventory to include a screenie of the F7 nexus, and only list the units that have a special given name.

Modo44: Don't forget to visit our web site
Snoddasmannen: we need a fancy title for you as well, as one of the few currently active members.
There's the 1st Infantry Division (the garrison Hoplites and Scout Patrols
Or there's the yet-to-be-named Impact Rover division commissioning in 2150 from Santiago Citadel

I checked the ranks in modern military (if that's relevant here), and a "Commodore" seems to be an officer who commands more than one ship, but not a whole fleet. That's in the Royal Navy. The Americans call the rank "Rear Admiral", which doesn't sound too cool. The ranks are separate to land, air and naval units, so it shouldn't be a problem if we have different ones too.
"Commodore Modo" would be fine with me. Has a good sound, no?
Ok, now that this is sorted, let's get back to arming those ships.Seriously. Kung freaking fu.

Hmm - that seems a bit high (we are all trying to keep our ranks below Colonel, or its equivalent (in deference to Colonel Santiago)
So the highest Navy ranking (Dissident) would be Commander, with the Western, Southern and Transport Fleet CO's being Lt. Commanders
(But any rank, when in charge of a vessel, is a Captain, hence Lt. Commander Primus Pilus, Captain of the SCC Hunter)
So you'd be Lt. Commander Modo ( )
