I have hard time believing these news:

Just read the second part on taking Morganic Capital. Did they really do it?

Something tells me - it is not. Morganities apparently had their capital on the coast. With Initiative and MCC Spartans could probably easily launch a sneaky attack from the sea.
In our case it is not possible. Time to draw special defence plans for Angels.
Game starts to be quite interesting. Poor Morganities.

It's a good situation that the PTS is gone, it negates the Morgans economic income quite a bit now that their population won't be that high anymore.
OTOH, this proves that the Spartans have become the biggest threat to our own chances in this game now.
My suggestion is to try come closer to the Gaians now, and perhaps warn them of that transport we spotted, it might be going their way now (if not to us).

Some general remarks:
- Morganities have our map, we should as soon as possible get COP unit or even more in every base. Coz they may find ways to infiltrate us in land bases too. We do not know who will have soon our map. Spartans might get it by "spoils of war". Is this on by the way?
- I would propose to get a probe foil in Maybe Kodycryptor and send it towards suspected Lal's position to the west. Also, maybe going around PK we may find a base to infiltrate Gaians on their eastern coast?

A good thing is - they may be much more willing for treating us better than we thought. I wonder what was their move to break diplomatic relations with Spartans? I think that this might trigger Spartan Raid, but it is only true if Kassiopeia says true about it. Morganities might have been completely surprised then.

I know that Maniac was pretty uptight during the Spartan turnplay. Guess I know now why.
The reasons stated for their attack are irrelevant anyway. It's the power of the Spartan behemoth that should be considered, not what they claim to be the 'truth'.
And Morgans' reasons? How would you feel if two ships were destroyed last turn? It seems that Spartans prepared long time for this, and Morgans were lured in complacity by diplomatic negotiations for ending the state of vendetta. Spartan turnplayers -and diplomats are very shrewd, let us remember that lesson.
Anyway, how about my proposal to inform the Gaians of this Spartan transport? In case they have infiltrated the Hive, they can check for themself of course.

Hmm, good that I checked the Spartan diplo forum.
Confidential memorandum from the Spartan Junta to the Data Angels
Re: the raid on Morgan Industries and the Planetary Transit System
You may have heard word of our pro-active defense operation against the Corporation. As we hold the Spartan-Angel relations in the highest regard, we would like to offer you some more insight in the reasons driving our action.
While our recent Operation "Armageddon" may seem a sign of our formidable strength, and will given enough bravado hopefully lure the Corporation into thinking a massive invasion is imminent, it is in fact a sign of our weakness. After all, if we had the choice, we would rather capture and hold the Planetary Transit System, than destroy it. But we couldn't. Terrapeso is chock full of synthmetal armoured probe defences. If we'd dare set permanent foot on Terrapeso by capturing a base, which by itself would be a relatively easy task for us, in their turn we'd be swarmed by Morganite probes from all directions, and the base with all our units in it would be mindcontrolled back to Corporate control.
That is why we have instead chosen a limited operation, a swift blow with a goal to maximize the economic damage to the Corporation, to reduce their economic superiority over us, and then retreat as soon as possible. The chances are very high that this endeavour will end as a kamikaze operation, and that many of our brave soldiers will never see back their husbands, wives and children.
We hope you now understand why we had to do what we did, and that we can count on your support to seek revenge for the injustices the Corporation has committed against us.
For the Junta,
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lieutenant Colonel Kassiopeia, Senior Diplomatic Officer of the Spartan Junta, Governor-General of Arcadia

'synthmetal armoured probe de'fences.' Yeah this is one of jtsisyoda's favourite probe defence ploys. I wouldn' t be surprised if every base didn't have 2 such units and also have them dotted along the coastal areas.
Note also the Gaian's have asked for 24 hr extension. What's that about ? I wonder? On the ISDG 2012 team at the heart of CiviLIZation

Perhaps the Morgans contacting them with their newly received comlink?

It's there, but sofar only Aran (Ouro) put a post in it. Nothing significant. I think it's best to PM Chaos Theory atm for he seems to be the turnplayer.

And this is from Mead (Morganities)
In the turn you will find the items we promised.
As it appears that we have lost Morgan Industies it is questionable as to whether we can continue.
I propose a Pact in order to attempt to turn back the Spartans. I believe you and us should also Pact with the Gaians.
Mead
BTW
In looking at the last turn we saw at least Spartan missle cruiser, one fast transport, and four Elite Impact rovers in the sea off our western shore north of you.
PPS it may be too late to stop the Spartans but we can try.
---------
Also it is worth of pointing that we will probably receive all as promised, as Mead says. Then pre-accepting was worth it, since we get Morganities trust. If so - we appear to be truly neutral faction in this game. Noone is afraid of us, everybody trusts us. We might be a Planetary Governor in this case - a choice neutral for all other. Maybe there is a chance for that somewhere in the future.Last edited by Mart; February 22, 2005, 01:38.
