    I would have to look at what exactly the formula is but my guesstamate is that the power graph gets its info from a combination of inputs and military is only one.

    Also I feel it is relative in that it compares to all other factions.

    Boils down to an outline of an outline.

      This just came in from Mead (Morgans)
      My response is unbeneath it, so if someones whose online then can check things out...

      Will you be on-line later on this evening (Eastern US time) in about 4 hours?

      I may need to discuss something with you and would like your input.

      I have to log off now for a few hours, but I will log on in about three to four hours from now.

      Mead
      I'm sorry, I have to get up in 7 hours again and have an appointment shortly after, it's night here atm btw.
      In case you need to discuss something urgently, I suggest checking if Mart or Herc are online. I won't be for the next 12 hours.

      On a more official tone, I can say that the Corporations' proposal for a pact has been declined due to strategic reasons. Tech trading is currently under discussion among the Angels. I know for sure that the Angels, if the majority agrees to, can trade one tech for sure.

        I will be here for the next 5-6 hours. Do we have a forum with morganities yet? or just use pm messages?

        About Pact, I would say something like:

        The political status of the Data Angels presently puts entering any Pact arrangements with other factions as not possible. For this reason we are sorry to inform you that we cannot accept your proposal. Please note though that we very much appreciate your gesture and respect towards Data Angels by offering the Pact.

        something like that. Should possibly make saying "no" quite pleasant for them

              From Spartans:
              We'd need some clarification in turn. Am I correct in assuming that we need to formally send Ecol Eng, pre-accepted, to the Gaians this turn. Then, do we also send it to you, the Angels, or do you get it from the Gaians in exchange for delivering Cyberethics to them and us? I'll be asking the same from the Gaians soon as well.

                Received this from Mead (Morgans):

                Geo

                I would like to know your thoughts on the following:

                Please consider a 10 year Pact where we would:

                Exchange all our tech for all your tech;

                your world map for our world map;

                all your commlinks for all our commlinks;

                your promise not to share (sell, trade, gift, etc.) tech, world map, and/or commlink received from us with anyone else for 4 years in exchange with our promise not to share (sell, trade, gift, etc.) any tech, worldmap, and/or commlink received from you with anyone else for 4 years; and

                Your promise to vote for us in election for governor when we ask and your promise to vote for World Trade pact when we ask.

                Your promise to not engage in any hostile action against us, including probe actions, in return for our promise not to engaged in any hostile action against you, including probe actions, for ten years.

                Your promise not to send any ships/units within 6 spaces of Morgan cities/bases in return for our promise not to send any ships within 6 spaces of DA cities/bases, without prior notice and consent. Consent will not be unreasonably withheld (i.e. freedom of navigation through straights, safe harbor for damaged/units in need of refuge).

                Please note that this is not a formal offer. It is something that I am considering. If both our factions find this acceptable then we could perhaps make it happen this next turn.

                Mead
                In my acknowledgment of receiving this message, I asked to Mead if this is an all or nothing package the Corporation is considering.

                Guess being pacted to the Morgans is only worthwhile for if we choose to vote for them on the Plan Gov thing. Personally, that's my only difficult point. Global Trade Pact, tech exchange, perhaps even map info might be worthwhile for we're getting more out of that on average.

                I can even see a case in which Yang is bidding for our votes!

                How's the opinion on this?

                  Don't like it one bit myself. While we would benefit from both of those things I think Morgan would more.

                  1. They get infiltration on us but us not on them.
                  2. As governor they get extra trade bonuses.
                  3. Those translate into ever bigger bonuses by the trade council vote.

                  Just don't like it at this point.

                    That's a lot to consider, and I will put it in our diplomatic forum ASAP.
                    You're right. It does a lot of good for both of us.

                    One question tho: Is this an all or nothing package the Corporation is considering, or are parts of it possible?
                    I was thinking all or nothing.

                    Also, in case this temporary pact goes through, who will break it? IOW, who's diplomatic trust will decrease towards the AI factions?
                    I hadn't thought about that. We could leave it as the Pact continues on a year to year basis after the 10 year period until one side wants to end it. Then the side that wants to end it would terminate the Pact.

                    That seems the easiest way to do it. Otherwise, the fairest way would be to choose some well know random event (50/50) that will occur in the future such as will the first number drawn of a specific major lottery, on a specific day, will be even or odd.

                      Well, it seems that Mart's 'polite' refusal posted in the earlier thread is in order then.

                              That's a positive negative from a majority of us.

                              Mart, where is that message you composed? Can't find it again. Perhaps you better send it (perhaps as the last action of your Sindership ).
