I'm testing to see our odds of dying to worms.
    Odds of worms: 15%
Odds of dying to worms, given that worms appear: 6%
Odds of dying to worms: 1% (negligible)
In other words, we should pop that pod in 99% of cases.
There's another pod directly behind it, too - it's a good idea to pop that pod.

Even if our Spatrol is defeated, we can switch to a Spatrol on the occurance.
The MW can't spawn next to a base.

    River idea: I agree.
Base at the endpoint of the river, and probe team moves west to catch a river ride.

Those are low odds... is that because where still so early in the game? Native life occurrence is medium in this game, isn't it?

Regarding MW not being able to spawn next to a base... why not? If the Scout pops the pod, and MW's pop out of it, one could spawn on that tile that borders on both our bases, or is there an ingame 'safeguard' against such an event?

There are ingame safeguards against stuff like that, Geo.
The low odds for dying are due to the massive power hit that native life takes this early.

Well done with the monolith but what is that scout doing in the fungus en route to the pod. I thought the scout was supposed to be in the river stretch between the two bases. Please explain?

This early in the game MWs are not a problem from what I understand, bar leaving a base empty.

              Oops.
My plan sort of involved exploring downstream.
              I guess I didn't make that clear. >_<''

No you didn't, I thought as well that the scout would stay in or between the bases. Guess I was wrong in assuming there was a concencus for goin' downstream.

                  Mindworm paranoia. :/

Here's the 'plan' for M.Y. 2104, as specific as I can make it:

Probe team to river at 21,71
Will move along the river 3 tiles, unless the 3rd tile contains a pod, whereupon the probe team will do nothing,
or if moving so would put it more than 1 movement point away from a pod off the river.
If the river branches, the Probe team will take the southernmost branch, for maximal exploration.
The scout patrol will move to 19,63 to pop the pod.

In the event of an energy pod, a switch to Planned is followed by a rush of the probe teams, so that they both complete in that turn.
Upon switching to Planned, the sliders will be reset to 50/0/50
If I have miscalculated, then only the probe in Kahlua Probing is to complete that turn - so that its Colony pod is produced first.

In the event of a unit on 19,63, the rover goes to 21,63 to pop the pod then moves so as to explore the most number of tiles.
In the event of a unit in the probe team's river, a screenshot is to be posted and further decisions made.

Engma:Ok Can go with that, but note:

don't forget to change the builds, before the pod pop, to Networks. That's what we agreed wasn't it? Unless there is a sharp ec penalty. Re the pod at 19.63 which base would benefit in the event of a build completion.?

You seem pretty confident of a rover, though I have to say in a game I'm in as the DA, two rovers have been popped, so good chance.. The other regular pod pop occurence is an AA.

We'll lose 3 minerals in the base on which we switch to a NN. And the pod is at an equal distance from each of the bases, so no way of predicting which one will benefit of a possible mineral pop.

If you switch builds, then switch back to the origial build, you get your minerals back.
So switch builds in BOTH bases.

since the Lake is the end of a river...
Maybe this River is very short?
We should avoid popping a pod on it unless there is 2/3 of a movement point remaining.

If the river ends... wait next to a pod.
Otherwise, do what uncovers the most tiles.

Scout couldn't get thru the fungus, so dunno about the pod yet. That river was only 3 tiles, so the probes is prepared to head S. And we did also get the Nessus Canyon - good eyes Enigma
