          • It is not illogical to worship a God whom we know to exist, only to believe in something without proof.

              • It's a disgrace I had to dig up this thread from so deep!

Anyway, seeing you are probably all SMAC fans, I'd like to draw to your attention the existence of a SMAC scenario I might be releasing. The scenario is called "Mars Survivors II : Moon Crash" and deals with the spaceship that left Mars at the end of the previous scenario (see my signature for it).
This is a sneak preview of the scenario.txt:

^^This game is the successor of the Marssurvivors scenario.
                ^
Captain's Log, approx. Mars Year 335, approx. Earth Year 2662. New date Moon Year -18;1;14.
^Since by some unknown gravity source in interstellar space our velocity changed, we now lost
track of the exact date. Therefore the ships council decided to start a new calendar based on
the orbit of our destiny, Moon. The date starts on the moment Colossus, the jovian planet which
Moon orbits, goes first through its perihelion on our arrival at 47 Ursae Majoris. Luckily
Olympus' computer woke the alert crew so we could alter our trajectory to the new space-time
position of 47 Ursae Majoris, thought it costed us almost all of our reserve fuel.
                ^
Captain's Log, approx. Mars Year 365, approx. Earth Year 2719, Moon Year 0;3;08-1.
^With a gravity sling around the sun (47 UMa) and the second jovian planet we are now on a
intercept course with Colossus. The astronomists have discovered some interesting aspects of
Moon. The satellite shares its orbit with an companion, circling each other. This gives Moon
a revolution, a 'day' if you like. It also increases the tectonic activity on both satellites,
which explains why Moon isn't frozen completely, being barely a Mercurius-sized object. Further
more the density is very high for a body this far from its sun, which result in a gravity-field
slightly over a quarter higher then Mars'. Moon has probably been formed close to 47 UMa and
captured by Colossus later, or is caught out of interstellar space.
                ^
                Captain's Log, Moon Year 0;3;26-5.
^The ship is lost. At the approach of Colossus we were hit by a asteroïd. three quarter of the
hibernators are killed by system malfunctions or plain crushing. Main propulsion is damaged.
The positioning-thrusters can be used, but are not powerful enough for pulling us in orbit.
The Olympus is still on course, though the surviving crew must eject in the remaining four
escape pods before the ship will crash on Moon. Arrival is on 0;3;27-3
^To make things more complicated, through the telescopes we discovered artifacts on the surface.
There are intelligent beings living down there! Hopefully they are not hostile to us.

Some hints. Make sure your defenses are sufficient, Moon is a tiny,
dangerous world with an active ecology and unpredictable inhabitants.
The tech-tree is split for each race, so don't research or trade the
CAPITAL marked techs. The (Hu) and (Mo) means Human and Mo'artii tech.
You can trade tech with the aliens. Be careful what you offer, don't
give the other race your advantages. Since one Moon year equals almost
exactly three Earth years, you can build and construct twice as fast,
research half as fast. The game evolves around the Martians, if you want
an alien experience, play with the Worshippers (and research all tech).
You start with one colony pod and are surrounded by strong native life:

If that doesn't work, follow this link and scroll down a little.

I won't be releasing the scenario just like that however. There currently is a contest over at CGN. The winner of that contest will get 500 free Reis Marks. In other words, it will allow me to get a custom avatar over at CGN. I have made it into the finals with the promise I'll release the scenario if I win the contest. If you are interested in this scenario, could I please ask you to vote for me, Maniac, in this thread? I would be very grateful and you would be doing yourself a favour too.

                Thanks in advance,

                Maniac

pass me a jug of xenorum . . . its thirsty work jawin' at all those Hive fellers . . . and they all sound the same , almost like they had a collective position or something.

None of that colllective stuff for us nosireebob . . A man gets ahead by his skill with his cutlass, his ability to steer small against a foul wind and find his way through the xenofungus. A dashing cap'n is repected and admired by all.

I wants to have the pleasure of a wench to go with me rum. A buxom lass, pleasin' to the eye and with some sturdiness to her.

                      • Ah yes. We used to have lots of Japanese schoolgirls working here in the holidays, but a lot seem to have disappeared. Rumours are they got entrapped somehow in Kassiopeia's cellar and also in a genetic Japanization experiment in TKG's Evil Offshore Science & Internal Affairs Platform. I'll see if I can find one that's left though. They seem to hang around in the paradise garden a lot, dancing naked between the trees.

More of a dagger from what I heard.

                              • "No sir. This be me dagger"

( With a lightning flip of his wrist, cap'n flubber hurled his dagger. It caught the tunic of static universe, pinning him to the wall)

                                "And this be me cutlass"

(cap'n flubber whirls and draws a shiny steel cutlass whipping the tip within an inch of Static Universe's nose. cap'n flubber moved closer and reversed the sword so that static universe could see the golden hilt inlaid with numerous precious stones including rubies diamonds and emeralds. Two nearby serving wenches gasped at the treasure before them, staring longingly at the precious stones. Both moved closer and offered Cap'n flubber some more rum with flirtatious eyes. Flubber pulled the buxom young ladies in close, caressing their shoulders and eyeing their scantily clad bosom)

" why thankee and I would be happy to sample your other charms as well"

( cap'n flubber retrieved his dagger, winked at a still stunned static universe, and waved the bejeweled hilt under his nose before sheathing the cutlass in his scabbard once more. )

" Works every time" he whispered to static universe. More loudly he said " Drinks are one me" and tossed pouch of pieces of eight to the barkeep

(he placed an arm around each of the young serving wenches and went to his pirate ship where the pleasures of wine women and song awaited him)
