so, you can farm xp with your units... pretty easily

if you are at war with someone who has an allied city state, you can move units to the city state city, keep bombarding it every turn

even if the health is at zero, you get XP for the bombardment

i'm waiting on an invasion force for an AI city... just pounding it right now... maxing out my promotions for my OP ranged units

the balloon gives +1 range to "bombard"/siege units

i'm going to keep AI cities alive, surround them with artillery, farm the XP, form "corps" with all the units, then move them to any front i have

visually, i'm just not getting indicated enough

      enemy units in particular

i just recall being able to... see them on the map better

i think it is the color scheme

it's like the music... ALL EPIC ALL THE TIME

they want ALL COLOR ALL THE TIME

      i can't take it

        oh, no more puppet cities

        or vassals

your options are... raze or occupy

and if you raze even one city, everyone hates you for the game and are pigeon holed into a warlike game

unless you are committed to destroying everyone, war is very complicated now

you'll still get attacked out of nowhere

just don't win the war, you'll be hated for the game

I have to stop playing until I can implement some changes via mods.

What caused me to quit now was the turn time, trade/spy unit management...

Yesterday, I played this particular game for a few hours.... 230-240 turns.

Today, I've been playing all day. I'm only just above 300. game just crawls to a slow pace and you don't feel like you are making any progress

most of today I spent clicking "send trader here. confirm" "send spy here. click the button twice (because it automatically wants you to send the spy elsewhere, requiring you to click the button for spy defense mission... which only closes the first menu... then you click it again.... so... TWO CLICKS, EVERY TIME... ON THAT BUTTON...

            **** you

            i'm done

32 hrs of gameplay to get to this point

if After Earth annoyed you, this game probably will too

if you become friends with a civ, they will park every unit they have by your capital

which makes it fun to move builders... or anything else around

lets see... do i want that alliance? or do i want to be able to move units outside of my capital city

you see, civilziation 6 is all about choices

if you choose a "random leader" at start, apparently, the AI can still be that civ

                  so... two Americas, Englands, etc

biggest complaint about combat.... probably the lack of an "alert" or "sentry" feature

it's fortify once and watch closely to make sure you don't get attacked... or skip an active unit every turn

this game is getting insanely positive reviews

                    it doesn't deserve those reviews

                      the UI design needs work

if you are about to initiate a ranged attack, you click on "ranged attack" then the unit in question

                      it's hard to see

there's a red range indicator... but it is more like a light, drab pink... barely visible against the bright cartoony artstyle

so I clicked attack once and it canceled the action... i was confused

apparently, the game will allow you to attempt to select an AI unit... but it doesn't let you complete the selection process because it isn't your unit... your click intended to choose your ranged attack target will cancel the attack if you manage to click on the enemy units' "shield" icon... which is about as big as the tile itself... and often time in the center... so yeah... a new feature... a phantom AI unit selection feature that only cancels your action

it is just... counter-intuitive... you have to make sure to avoid clicking that shield

                      information is also scattered

                      some stuff up top
                      some to the right
                      some to the left

                      buttons are small

hovering is slow and doesn't work half the time
To us, it is the BEAST.

                        AI is still... ugh

                        had trajan as my ally

we're in a joint war against a few people

he loves me... +10 here +20 there... insane positive number... even with the massive warmonger penalty i got...

warmonger penalty is just... there's little rhyme or reason and it just seems to exist to make war an a "whole game" event

but... so... as allied in two wars... i get a rumor message that says "Rome is preparing a war against Egypt(me)"

                        uhm

                        sigh

so that's the AI game plan... attack the world's superpower, your biggest ally, who is perfectly aligned with your "agenda" or whatever

there's no information as to why this happens, despite the existence of submenu upon sub menu

they make all these submenus just to show you like four lines of text that should be (AND WAS IN EARLIER TITLES) visible if you hover over the leader face

the leader icons/faces are also issues... there's a emoticon indicator as to the attitude, but hovering over it just tells you the text name of the attitude

which you need, because the "unfriendly" face is hard to see and looks like a smiling face

                        bad use of color

                        bad UI design

is it a scaling issue? I'm only on 2560x1600

god only knows what they did with 4k

                        seems built for 1080p

                        terrible design

Sounds like it was rushed out the door with minimal playtesting or tweaking. So, yes, fairly typical Firaxis.

You know what I haven't played? The XCOM remake. I need to buy that, just as soon as I acquire time to burn on a three-hour-a-day game habit.

yeah, i don't think i'll bother at this point. maybe in a year or so when they've ironed out some of the issues and made some improvements. i haven't the time anyway.

                                One funny thing:
If you have a trade delegation with a state (meaning you get reports from things happening in said state) you also get reports concerning your own deals with said state.

                                Say:
I (as Barbarossa, Kaiser of Germany) declare fridnship with the Chinese

Then I will get a report like:
From Wilhelm, envoy with the Chinese: Germany declared friendship with the chinese

Good to know, as I wouldn't have noticed else, that I did this
Tamsin (Lost Girl): "I am the Harbinger of Death. I arrive on winds of blessed air. Air that you no longer deserve."
Tamsin (Lost Girl): "He has fallen in battle and I must take him to the Einherjar in Valhalla"
