According to the Conquests editor notes, they can disappear (etc.) wheter you road them or not -- if that's the case (and a significant departure from Vanilla and PtW if true), you may as well road them all (I used to hold spare one "in reserve" by not roading them).
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

I am still not able to buld my spaceship! I have the Appllo wounder , I have aluminum, rubber, uranium. Ive researched all but 2 space releated advances (working on the last 2) So why cant I build the spaceship?

        is the game already over?

Did the AI (or you perhaps?) already win the game via a different way?

No, it has no purpose other than to win the game.

There's no point to it, but I think it will still allow you to build it, as long as the spaceship victory is enabled. It seems like I went ahead and built it after a domination win just to thumb my nose at China in my recent Celts game.

Ah well. On another point- some of my cities are not listing the improvments ive made there. ie: my city already had coal plant, manufercting, nuclar, i then started bulding solar -afterwards coal and nuclar were listed as unmade- when i rebuld them i get a notic that swiching to wealth will wast xx sheilds. is there a pach for this? why is it happening?
(I am so glad I found this fourm!!)

You can have only one kind of a plant in your city. If you build a coal plant and then, say, a nuclear one, the coal plant will simply disappear, being (auto)replaced by the nuclear one.

It's not a bug, it's how it's supposed to work.

But if i buld coal - i get that increase to sheilds, then i buld the nuclare for another increase, etc. Now in my bult lits it should show coal, nuclar and all that, but it dosnt! and i find that in my bulding list that there again.

You can only have one Power Plant per city. If you build a new one, the old one gets destroyed.

coal plant - very dirty, but available early on
Solar plant - clean, but only available late game
Nuclear plant - clean, but can melt down during a riot (like a A-bomb hitting your city)
Hyrdo plant - also clean, but requires a river and is available a little sooner than solar.

Build order usually goes like this -> Coal, hydro, then either solar or nuclear (if your comfortable with the risk). Reason for this is that the game designers are simulating the dirty old industrial times. If later in the game you don't want to clean up those orange specks, build different power plants.

About the "wasting wealth" - its not a bug ... Say you build a improvement up to 50%, but then decide to go to Wealth -> basically what its telling you is your gonna lose the 50% you already built, and starting next round your producing wealth (either 1 gold per 8 shield or 1 gold per 4 shield after economics).

right - i understand that - Im not changing to wealth - the systen is doing it without my doing it.

Also remember that nuclear plants require fresh water in the city radius, similar to hydro plants.

Look over this article from Catt for more information.

One other tip, and I don't remember if this was in the article or not, but the replaced plants don't disappear, they're sold. This means if you replace a plant after discovering recycling, you also get 1/4 of its shield cost to start your next build. For a coal plant, I believe that's 60 shields.

Great article! This is what ive done- however the coal and nuclar reapper in my proudection to-do box!
                            ***********
city may have only one power plant. Any city that already has a power plant and then builds any additional power plant, will automatically sell the prior plant – the sale price in gold will be added to your treasury (and the recycled shields to your production box if you have discovered the tech Recycling). For example, if the player builds a Solar Plant in a city that already has a Coal Plant, the Coal Plant will be sold automatically and be replaced by the Solar Plant. Once replaced, an older power plant is gone for good – i.e., in the above example, if the newly built Solar Plant were sold or destroyed, the older Coal Plant would not reappear.
                            **************
a couple other things: What happens if i sell the coal plant - do i lose the bonus to sheilds i recived when bult? assume i've bult all pwr. plants and sell the nuclar plant? what happens to the bonus sheilds i recived?

If you have a coal and say hydro from Hoovers, you can sell the coal and have no loss of shields.

If you sell the only existing plant of any flavor, you lose the bonus.
There is no point in building plants that have a better version available (one with bigger bonus or with less pollution) or you get the free hydro. Yeah I know you could get a bigger bonus from a nuke and that may be ok.

I always build Hoover and never build coal plants.

I beeline right for Hoovers to ensure I get it. The ai usually goes for replacable parts or something like that.
