My only thought is that it has to be a bug or an oversight on their part. I doubt not having the palace view not available in loaded biq scenario games was intended.

Can anyone comment on the second part of my first post?
Considering that new wonders/improvements from the epic game intentionally weren't added to the aerial view, it stands to reason that improv/wonders wouldn't be added for the scenarios either. That being the case, why have an aerial view in a scenario where no of the specialized improv/wonders are represented? I think it's intentional that scenarios don't have aerial views.

The palace view is harder to explain, but it doesn't bother me.

The palace view would be inappropriate for the WW2 scenario.

Seems like one should wait to get C3C until patch #1is out.

statusperfect, don't wait. These are mostly minor issues. I haven't even heard if there is going to be a patch. (Jesse stated early on that there wouldn't, but that might have been wishful thinking on his part)

            Double Income from GPT

The game is awarding twice the GPT payments it should. I've attached a save from my current game. Call up the Mayans, they'll offer 168g/turn for magnetism. The income display in the lower right hand corner of the screen will update to reflect the new income, but the following turn there are 168 gold more in the treasury than there should be.

Mesopotamia: Industrial workers appear in the 3rd age.

Napoleon: French can take half of Europe by offering MPP in exchange for cities, thus winning the scenario in turn 1.

                Un-Patchable Bug

Here's a stinker, and I'm gonna call it a real bug.

When you insert the C3C disk, the Autoplay startup does not give you the option to "Play C3C" - Only to Install. IIRC the C3 and the PTW disk pop-ups both offer "Reinstall" and "Play" choices after you have the game installed.

This is also not patchable (except on future CD print runs) as this code is run from the CD itself - Unless it is actually in the code and looking for a registry entry, and the entry is just messed up. - Note: This is on a fresh install of Civ3 and C3C - I fully uninstalled C3 and PTW before reinstalling everything. (and I also completed the registration)

just FYI - but this is annoying as I have to put the disk in anyway (but then again, I've been known to leave the disk in for weeks at a time also)

                Thanks

                Kevin P.

i would hope theres a modicum of honor in most civ players. if you really want to win that easily, thats your bag.

                    Statusperfect,

Actually I'm impressed by how few bugs have been reported so far. The only big one seems to be this gpt one.

                    All,

Does this gpt thing work for the AI as well? Do AI civs get double gold? And does it come out of the other's civ's treasury, or does it just appear out of nowhere?
                    kwpulliam,

If you're on Windows XP, there's some weirdness with application permissions that is a known problem with that OS. You can check MS' knowledge base about it, but there's not much to be done.

I seem to be noticing a bug in map generation. I thought it was hard coded to always have a start position within sight of a water source, yet I have had a handful of random maps where this is not the case.

                            32 kernal crash

I've been playing around with Conquests for a few days so I can Finish my scenario. I seem to have problems with DYP. I can load it, but the text isn't lining up or is slightly changed. When I exit the game or sometimes try to load a different or new game; it crashes, usually a kerner crash. I end up having to restart my computer.

G'Kar, you're saying it's unappropriate even when there are only basic game changes made? In PtW I'm able to have the aerial and palace view when I play scenarios with only basic changes; why shouldn't I be able to in Conquests? Who's to say that every scenario made is going to have more than basic changes that wouldn't appear in an aerial and palace view?

There needs to be at least an option to be able to see it if you still want to. Most of the time I don't want to, but if I'm bored with the game at a point it's nice to go look at either an aerial view or the palace view.
However, it is difficult to believe that 2 times 2 does not equal 4; does that make it true? On the other hand, is it really so difficult simply to accept everything that one has been brought up on and that has gradually struck deep roots – what is considered truth in the circle of moreover, really comforts and elevates man? Is that more difficult than to strike new paths, fighting the habitual, experiencing the insecurity of independence and the frequent wavering of one’s feelings and even one’s conscience, proceeding often without any consolation, but ever with the eternal goal of the true, the beautiful, and the good? - F.N.

Not a bug with the game but might be a concern that causes calls to tech support:
I bought conquests Friday. I think I had a bad burn / cd press. My drive couldn't read one file from the disc. The game would play but the load up menu would be slow and the game would crash on occasion. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling, different IDE drivers, and reboots... nothing worked.

Today I exchanged it for a new copy. The new copy installed flawlessly on the first try, the menu works quickly, and I had no crashes while playing today.

So, there may be a bad batch of CDs out there.
