Nice work Fairline Aparently the Allies had to give up the camo clothing due to camoflauged Allied soldiers being mistaken for Waffen SS! (the US Marines in the Pacific didn't have this problem though)

Thanks Case The US introduced a few camo uniforms in 44 which, as you say, were too similar to Wafen SS camo and withdrawn. The khaki and drab uniforms I've drawn here were worn from the start of the war until mid-44 (after the Normandy campaign) when they were replaced by green uniforms.
The British paras wore a camouflage denisen smock throughout the war over the usual british ****e-brown battledress; this was only replaced in the 80's I think.
