Soon after Prime Minister Nicholas and the Field Marshall Gromgromskij inspected the ruins, and saluted the citizens of that proud city, now relieved from repression and tyranny. The Prime Minister explained to the press, that the railroad line Between Bucharest and Serbia now will proceed as planned, and is projected to be finished within a year or so.

    Second Payment to Lloyds!
The flourishing russian economy has yielded another surplus. The finance minister announced yesterday, that second rate of the payments to London is on its way. "-I am happy to announce that Lloyds Bank received a grand sum of 450 pounds of gold from its russian debitors", said the minister, "-thus increasing the payback rate effective with 100 pounds". • NEWS FROM FRANCE

The long expected statement of Poincare' to the ongoing events in Europe came finally early this morning in most of all international newspapers. Poincare' breaks the silence with quoting that " France has now decided to be dependant of her self alone and no others" and following up later: " ... is now freed from the claustrophobic and deteriorating bonds with the Italian and Turk nations." Poincare', remarkably truly honest, described the alliance as been only a "one way street" were the Italians just demanded and demanded without any true interests in the greater benefit of the other members and the stability and peace of Europe.
On this background Poincare' made a sharp and clear statement to the Italian nation that: "... if Italy continuous to criticize and slander France, these provocations will no longer be unheard and Italy will find herself in war."
Rest of his speech Poincare' used on philosophical pondering on how to work for prosperity and fight ignorance, and warmly welcomed Britains news about closer trade-connections.

          • [C] FRENCH AROGANCE ATTROCIOUS [/C]

Germany is ready for war against France, but not so with the other CEU nations, yet. The latest news however has sent many spiraling down the road to war, though the majority are still passive, but few are anymore for France.

This comes of course after France's claim that she can beat everyone's rocker on their own for they need no help. Rhoda Var, secretary genaral is quoted to have said, 'sounds like a bet to me!'

            Anti-French Coalition started

The CEU nations however have let the Ioannes prepare the papers for an anti-French coalition, just in case they get too upity. 'We don't know who'll join, but we feel Italy will be glad to be a part of this.'

            • Germany, have you got my new mail yet?

              • Got the game.

                Britain Seeks Inclusion in CEU!

Unknown to most the world, the British government has been seeking entry into the Central European Union. The majority of nations in the union expressed their acceptance of Great Britain and last month, the majority of senators voted for the inclusion of that great state. However, the vote was vetoed by Ioannes I due to politics in Germany. 'If England joined the CEU,' Military counsil Rhoda Ruwin was quoted, 'then the majority of the representatives would be pro-French, or soon would be due to the influence. We just can't have that right now.' Tension builds in the houses as the German party steers the Union toward war.

                Operation Peaceful Dove Initiated!

Press leeks (and onions) have obtained interesting news about a high class operation in the highest levels of the CEU. The purpose of Operation Peaceful Dove That Loves Everybody (as Ioannes I insists upon calling it) is yet unknown, but some sources claim it to be a diplomatic move to sort out peace, while others claim it to be war plans and preperation.

Ioannes and Gary Smith To Meet in Amsterdam

After the unsettling results in the CEU senate chambers earlier last month, Ioannes extended a hand of friendship to the Prime Minister of England Gary Smith. 'We must sort out our differences if we are ever to live in peace as we have invisioned two years ago.' The meeting is to be held in Amsterdam, a city that is pro-French and strongly supported England's entry into the CEU. It is hoped that everything will become sorted out and friendship reclaimed.

                Riots along French-German Border!

New Year festivities became rowdy when Germans and French along the border celebrated. No one knows how the rioting began, but many shops were pillaged and anti-German slogans were painted all over houses and buisnesses in Mulhouse. The mayor said, 'we will not tolorated hate in this town' and promptly requested military support for his overwhelmed police department. Ioannes granted the troops and they quickly flooded the town bringing peace. However, anxiaty has risen drasticly as many of the CEU troops became unsettled, itching for war against France.

                      • MUNITION PLANTS COMPLETED ACROSS BRITAIN!!

At a huge cost to the government, but in the intrests of the people, munitions plants were completed this month in britain. Elsewhere ports were opened as the british empire tries to better the living conditions of its citizens

                        BRITAIN OUTRAGED BY GERMAN VETO

As Gary Smith was away in amsterdam meeting with Ioannes I to sooth over all this conflict the British Foreign Minister, Lord Such expresed his outrage at the german veto. This couldnt have come at a worse time with relations between these two countries at an all time low.

                        BRAWL IN AMSTERDAM!!!!!!

What started as a glorious day with Mr Smith arriving, and being cheered into, amsterdam ended in violence today. Mr Smith arrived in amsterdam for the meeting with Ioannes I of germany to smmoth over relations between the countries. At the Best hotel in amsterdam, (and reports say after sampling the finer qualities of amsterdam) Mr Smith met with Ioannes in the formal dining area. With Mr Smith were his 5 bodyguards and his legion of aides. Ioannes I had 6 Bodyguards and his legion of aides. Things progressed nicely with both leaders sharing numerous drinks of various vintages and spreading their goodwill around the room. Things soured however when Mr Smith brought up the matter of britains inclusion into the CEU which the Germans had vetoed only recently, at that moment the comments of the british foreign minister was shown to ioannes and mr smith. What happened next is a shame on both our countries.

Mr Smith seemed to take this news well but when ioannes suggested that he take action against his foreign minister mr smith smiled at him and then hit him with a roundhouse blow to the head. As the bodyguards stood there in shock ioannes recovered and hit mr smith with an uppercut sending him sprawling ono the floor. The Bodyguards leapt to protect their respective leaders but ended up embroiled in a fight of their own. The amsterdam people who had been invited quickly made themselves absent and while mr smith and ioannes I laid into each other the various aides just went at each other. This evolved into a huge brawl which spilled out onto the streets. Mr Smith and ioannes stood toe to toe and traded puinces neither proud man wanting to back down even though they both had black eyes and were almost falling over. Eventually the aides managed to pull them apart whole the bodyguards continued their ruck until amsterdam police waded in with big nasty sticks and silenced this brawl. Mr Smith and Ioannes were dragged out by their aides screaming threats and insults at each other. As soon as he left the hotel Mr Smith got on a ship and left hurridley to get back to england. Ioannes was believed to have quickly left for Berlin. Meanwhile when reports of this reached the admiralty some shots were exchanged between the British Battleship HMS Reknown and a german vessel. Neither side was badly injured and soon after both retreated to their respective safe waters.

This seems ominous in tthis editors opinion. Also some trade caravans are nearing frances coast under heavy escort to protect from "pirates" (read german ships) and Mr Smith has asked france to let his caravans land on the coast and then they will be making for paris in a few turns.

                            • Grothgar, you forgot that russian troops took Bucharest this time... Soon we will be all over the balkans.. j/k

Exile, your scen seems very well balanced... The techs and units seem to work pretty well. But I gotta say this :

-The Map is simply too boring, and too inaccurate to compliment the work that went into the techs and units. Maybe its a tad too big, as well. At least for pbems, I think so. But you gotta put more work into the graphics and diversity of the terrains. 90%Grassland simply don't do it. Especially in Russia.

-The movement rates for navies are completely unreasonable. It is not appropriate that some of the big countries should require several years of naval movements, for moving the navy around the country. They could easily be doubled. Especially since the map is so large.

Otherwise I am entertained. Especially with the "power politics" of this pbem. But still we're in the early game, and still no war. But a good thing for russia! As long as peace prevails, russia will prosper! -And that could be dangerous for Europe, mind you...... don't worry, you guys are safe for the time being....
