Actually that wasn't a joke, I misread it.

I guess Belegost and Nogrod was destroyed somehow (or at least abandoned). This map however shows other Dwarven settlements in the mountains. I mean there were some dwarfs in the northern Blue Mountains during WOTR. http://www.taivaansusi.net/roolipeli...ddle-earth.jpg

Very nice indeed. But it is a Second Age of the Sun map, maybe created for RPG? In fact going through the rest of the site, I find it quite interesting as well except for the fact that it is is Danish or something.

after some navigating, this entry point would probably be more suitable for the rest of us

I will google some of the cities to check them out. No harm in putting in a few more small cities here and there where there is a huge empty area. Especially for the Easterlings and Southrons

Danish? More like Finnish. And yes, it's RPG map, but I linked it as a source of inspiration.

If you're after a great map for the books, I guess the New Line Cinema one is one of the best IMHO.

I used to have the maps for the new Deciper RPG, it included more than enough cities in Gondor. Too bad I lose them.

On topic, how is the gameplay coming along, koby? And were you serious about that Hero=settlers=watch out for global warming thingy?

I'm actually not back home until tomorrow night, so there's been no progress since a week ago. I bought the encylopedia during the my business trip (hong kong is a literary wasteland) and have been going through it while passing the time. I reckon it'll still be a few months before anything playable from beginning to end materializes.

I'm getting new ideas all the time from the guys here like the railroad graphics for walls and everything remains in flux. I only just realized that the Beornings need to be available to the Gondor Allies and maybe I'll just use a 'Northmen' unit to represent both the Beornings and Rohirrim Footsoldiers.

I'm going to try the global warming idea first. If it doesn't work out, it'll be easy enough to turn pollution off but not allowing the heroes to fortify seems to be a good thing as veteran heroes fortified in a city behind walls and barracks on a hill make them practically invulnerable. I presume no one would sacrifice a hero building a new city.

This scenario looks like it'll be remarkable!

Where can I find the other LOTR scenarios you alluded to?

Both sites have version 4 of Harlan Thompson's Lord of the Rings as well as Favoured Flight's Lord of the Rings Series.

using railroad as the cave walls was a good idea and the dithering effect gives a much better look than a plain black diamond unit. But...Man.....the process of putting them in is painfully slow.

Shift F8 - Change Ocean to Land, OK
Shift F8 - Add Railroad, OK
Shift F8 - Click, terrain, change Land back to Ocean, OK
                    repeat 500 times

Otherwise, I've started initial playtesting between wall painting sessions.

Arthedain, when I come up with an advanced beta, would you like to be the test pilot for this baby?

This Favoured Flight LOTR scenario trilogy is really cool!

With all that's been learned, yours should be very spectacular, kobayashi!

Arthedain, will let you know when its ready. Its going to be a while yet.

GoD, thanks for the offer but I thought of Arthedain because of his expertise in hobbitology, as evidenced by his moniker.

UDB, appreciate your vote of confidence. I will be borrowing on the previous works so we shall see if your prediction comes true...

Sounds okay. I'm not in a rush. It's better to take your time to make eveything right.

                                Tested two games.

In first game could not hold Helm's Deep or Edoras and Saruman ends up sweeping west towards Minas Tirith by the time the FOTR get out of Moria. Stopped at turn 30 or so.

Strengthed Rohan with more units and fortresses and started again with Eomer in Helm's Deep...same result.

Sigh! back to the drawing board.
