Still, ToT "invisible" units are only invisible to the player, not the AI.
Subs can hit sea domain targets in sea squares, so if a sub hobitcopter attacks a domain 2 target located on a single sea terrain (which doesn't show up as sea if the target covers it), it's BOOM! hobbit-target in MGE Leaving a pool of water behind.

Good Point. I think this might work.
I'll have to redo some stuff but It'll help to differentiate the hobbits from Aragon as trigger killers. In fact, Its just the thing I was looking for. Adding a terrain change event to remove the water would be possible as well and its even better if the helicopter might move into the trigger unit square before the terrain change takes place, then you won't need to disband the triggerer or make the triggerer a cruise missile.

BTW, does anyone know the meaning of the

      Vendetta (spying on....)

tick box in the Edit Treaties menu? How is it different from Embassy (spying on...)

In ToT, you'd use multiple maps to simulate the arcane route for the quest to Mordor. It looks like Koby is doing the same thing on a single MGE map!

Can't help you much with the dip screen. Doesn't vendetta just mean the two are implacable enemies? Embassy and "spying on" sound redundant to me.

yep, thats what I think Vendetta is supposed to do...I think it triggers the 'I wouldn't give you the time of day' message when you try to initiate contact. but as you say, what does that have to do with spying?

Progress Report - finally stiched together a beta version with everything but some non-essential stuff, like graphics for city improvements, a few of the sounds for the later units, new wording for game.txt etc. Also haven' put in the walls of the dungeon part but that's about all that is lacking. Implication of this is I'm probably not going to give up.

The next task is testing and balancing. Will end up restarting my test game about twenty times so it will still take a while. I'm going on a business trip for the week so I'll finally get to rest my sore mouse arm.

            heres the final unit lineup

It's eye candy, but if you have no other use for the single square RR icon, you could place an RR in that single sea square to make it look like a volcano. Alternatively, you could probably use pollution there, too.

Good point. The RR option is safer. If you place polution squares before the scen starts (i.e. during scenario building) you might get global warming one day, even with the no global warming flag on. No global warming works only after the scenario starts. Yes, I remember it happening with a WW2 sahara paved with pollution and the flag on.

The orc with the "?".. It should be Willam Keenan's sig. "WK" or something like that.

using one or two pollution tiles is still safe i think. I remember the first Norwegian Campaign which used pollution as the political border - instant global warming even with pollution turned off.

In my case, pollution will be kept on so it doesn't matter one way or another.

However, the RR is a good idea for covering the ocean walls of the dungeon parts without wasting a unit slot. You'll see that I have one unit slot blacked out right now for that purpose.

quick question, the tech RR will put a railroad under each city automatically. Will that railroad be visible or do I have to take the railroad tech outof the tree (I was planning to use the free message window that comes with railroad tech)

                      another survey

If Leoglas and Elronds sons were all the same unit, i.e. ''Elf Prince'' or something, would that be acceptable?

Don't forget that every 2 Solar Plants cancel the effect of one polluted square.

                          Legolas had sons?
I know Elrond hadtwo though, and guess that'd be acceptable.

                            Arthurdain very funny.

so there is no room for further twisted interpretations, I meant

Elladan = Elrohir = Legolas = Elven Prince

my idea about the pollution is the heroes will be settlers so they can clean up tainted land on the side if needed. If they can't bother to do so and the Valar decide to cut their losses (after all this nonsense with Morgoth and the rebel Numenorians and now Sauron again, who can balme them) and sink more than just the northwest bit of Arda, then you lose. Good point about Solar plants. I think I will give the solar plants in some guise to the elves.

The Tolkien Illustrated Encyclopedia states that both Nogrod and Belegost fell into the sea. It also states they were both located in the Blue Mountains which are plainly still visible in the 3rd Age maps. I always the dwarves just abandoned them and moved to Khaza-dum...

I was planning to just put them in as ruins but it wouldn't make sense if they already fell into the sea. So did they or did they not?
