    Hm.

    Actually...

Since all "marine" units have the alpine flag anyway, why don't you make them helicopters with 3 movement points and make warships aircraft carriers instead of sea transports?

A good idea. I've seen this in one of the Colonies (by academia I think) where Sea Raiders work that way. Really good point Eurisko.

If you do so you should keep in mind though that Helicopters lose hitpoints when not ending their turn in a city (or carrier...).
Ceterum censeo that trade units are included!!

Funnily enough I just got rid of the alpine flag in the set of rules I just posted for all the marine units. Definately an interesting idea.

I'll try an find out what colonies scenario its in and find out more. My only reservations are that in SP the ai would treat them as it does in the normal game and cross the atlantic with them. Also if the 'mine' unit was researched, these too could be transported. Still worth looking at though..

The rules I posted deal with getting rid of errors such as:

-Portugese Infantry will not be destroyed after attacking
            -Partisan/Rebel units have alpine flag.
-Constitution Class now can no longer bombard land (bringing it into line with other warships).
-Hussars gain two space visibility (along with Rifle units + ignore ZOC).
-Royal Marines can now make amphibious assaults.
-Landwehr have 2x def against cavalry (pikemen).
-Elite units now have 2x def (except H Infantry).

The Prussian crown has been deeply offended by the French occupation of Hamburg and Frankfurt. The German state of Saxony has asked to be a protectorate of the Kingdom of Prussia due to the impending French menace.

To Austria: I am sorry but that square with my troops near Dresden is not Austrian territory. Firstly it was a part of Saxony and now it is mine.

However, Dresden was using the farmland square north of Prague and I have freed this for you.

To Britain: We ask you to pillage the road north of Hannover (which is in the state of Hannover). This will help Prussian defence later on and should not hinder your efforts.

About the AI's behaviour empting its cities; why not leave all like it is and just put fortresses in each coastal AI city so that they will never get emptied by the AI itself? I don't like all this side effects that the AI's infantry will get by giving them other flags...

Really? I thought that Prague started the game with that square already? I can't check now because I'm at work

I think I might go that way in 1.2. The problem is more or less sorted for this PBEM.

Could everyone check that they have download the latest version of the rules posted in this thread so that we are all playing from the same rules (posted on the 29th).

Rebel, it is very possible you started with it. However, this is a vanilla civ2 feature and we are playing civ2 multiplayer, which is much more sophisticated. However, I gave you back one square which was used by Dresden.

Saladin, I'm leaving to Finland tomorrow until the 16th of April (Leaving and Returning thread) so could you please take over for me?

After a brief meeting between L'Empereur and the Holy Roman Emperor, our expansion into German territory has been, for now, halted, and he has 'agreed' to recognize our already-siezed territories as our sovereign land now and into perpetuity. We hope his 'vassals,' the King of Prussia and Austrian Emperor follow in his wake.

I take it you are talking character Patine, but at this time in history these two titles were held by the same man.

Britain is pleased that France has agreed to halt her expansion into Germany, but expects this not to be substitued with expansion into Italy, Spain or Denmark.

(PS: Sorry to nitpick. It just sounds like you and Rebel have reached an agreement).
