  • The Age of Napoleon PBEM v1.1

Well, this is one of my favourite SP scenarios and i believe that its suited for PBEMs too.
I was too slow to join the previous playtest, so i was wondering if there´d be enough players interested in playing a new PBEM with the last version?

you can find saladin´s TAON v1.1 scenario here:

    The Russian Empire - Academia
    Kingdom of Prussia - Nilat
    Empire of France - Patine
    Austrian Empire - Rebel
    United States - Eurisko
    British Empire -Saladin

              Only the British left.

Maybe we should reserve the spot for Saladin, since he created this scenario and surely wants to participate in a PBEM of it.

Just when I was thinking about setting up a PBEM...

I would gladly participate in this PBEM and play as Britain.

The Russian Empire claims the cities of Helsinki and Stockholm.
We also close the gulf of bothnia and part of the baltic sea for the time being...

Regarding foreign policy, we are open to negotiations with every major power in the world.

                      saladin:
i have some questions for you about the scenario...

why did you include so many cities in latinamerica? i mean, my country has 6 cities! i´ve never seen that before in a worldwide gigamap scenario.
chile has 3 cities, you included uruguay, paraguay, bolivia, peru, ecuador and colombia.
                      that´s not normal...

my first thought was "maybe he wants the american indepedepence movements to have a major role in the scenario", but i see no events related to that... mmm... but i also see a SA Rebels unit with the venezuelan/colombian (i guess) flag.

as you can see, i´m a bit confused. is there an explanation?

There is an event that triggers independence movements in South America via event.

One reason for so many cities was to use up the remaining city slots. I didn't want the Ai to start building cities all over the place. Originally at least five of those cities were destined for the US, however the lack of maps showing the settlements that existed west of the mississipi at the time. I also wanted to avoid the US quickly becoming one of the superpowers in the game as it does in other scenarios since at this point it was at best a regional power. I'll be very interested to see how the US does in this PBEM.

Another reason for populating South America is that it does allow the players to fight over another area of the world by intervening in the independence movements should the wars in Europe and North America end. In effect a proxy war in which anyone who can get men there to fight does. We could have for example a system where each player chooses to either fight for the rebels or the Spanish and fight it out until there is a winner.

The SA Rebel unit is a soldier in Boliviar's army btw.

Sorry about my ramblings, I hope they shed some light on your question

Guys.. I don't want to play in this PBEM if there's not going to be some consensus about historical accuracy and roleplaying (to some extent). Russia claiming the whole Swedish Empire just proves this will be a mindless civ2 engine game.

I agree, to some extent we should roleplay.
