MY Atlas says it [i]was[/ii], which mieght have been meant that river barks and floats could pass the Aar (the Atlas says Aare ) througout without danger. That's enough for me, since a houserule or blocker units don't admit ocean rivers for sea ships. Does anyone know if the Durch fluyts (and galleons?), which had such a flat draught, could pass some rivers, f.e. the Rhine ?

PS: Since the Swiss is AI controlled, it actually doesn't matter if the Aar is a normal or an ocean river.

      The tree grows up...

The flexible musketeers (to understand as both defense, offense-usable, very manoevarable, effectful in smaller groups as would be departions between cavalry swadrons, in woods, swamps etc.).... dunno.. maybe yet too abstract ?

        Tactics

Found this bit of Thirty Years War Tactics info that I thought may be useful. I expect you already have such info but sometimes a new perspective can be interesting. I also have some good strategic maps and battle maps that could help inspire if nothing else. Let me know if you are interested.

          Breitenfeld

Still working out the quickest and easiest to scan things, reduce them quickly and get them to fit on Apolyton. I think it would be easier to Google image search for maps but this is useful practice anyway.

They are from 'Atlas of Military Strategy' by David G. Chandler published 1980. Its a really good book I picked up in a second hand bookshop. Covers the period 1618-1878 in quite a bit of detail, lots of good maps etc...
I am working out the quickest and easiest way of scanning maps and getting them to fit on the web. What I would like to do for my own reference is scan every map I have and catalogue them. I think I may need medical help!

Not only detailed but also really scientific. Well, I do like the first pic, which covers the periods of both TYW and Balance of Power.

I just twigged what you meant about the Battle book! My wife got it for me at Christman. I love some of the art in there, especially Lepanto and the siege of Vienna.

This book is very handy for a Civ designer as a reference but dangerous as every page looks like a new scenario idea!!!

I will try and scan some more bits when I get the time. Tonight I am not doing any work on my games or other projects. I have just finished adding Fairlines graphics to John Ellis' Hellas and am about to build a trade empire as the Corinthians. Bliss!

I swear, I just was about to open the game to tweak around a bit.
Got some free days right now, and will have much more in a month.

But I don`'t know where to start the finish... Tech tree, unit placement, hexediting. The last will be events and gfx, i guess.

                        Edit: I decided for Hex-Editing!

Concretely, I just want to make a cosmetic tweak. When I changed the ressource seed in the savegame, the "no-ressource-on-filler-terrain"-information became lost. Now I want to hex away the wales and fishes in the open sea . Basically, I know how to do this (setting some 1 to 0 and stuff ) but my hexeditor is not very comfortable for this task . For map tweaks, wouldn't it be more useful to have a visual editor, as told in the "all about hexediting"-manual ? Where can I find one ?

battosai, your scenario looks great. Could you be so kind to post the cities you are using in this scenario in the "non-unit-showcase" or give me a link to them.

I want to test how they look in Civ 3 (for a mod I´m doing there)

As told elsewhere the cities gfx (and all the others) are defenetiley NOT mine. Yet it shouldn't be hard to find them over at Scenario Leaque under John Ellis/ Colonies IV. Look at his other works, too.

And don't remind me at the graphics, omg I have no idea how to get all I need.

                                Battosai

If you want some feedback for this project then I am more than willing to take a look.

IMHO would say that the tech-tree is the first thing to finish as a lot of things depend on it.

Hex Editing and Events are secondary.

Unit placement and graphics come last.

Finally testing and tweaking as well as extra events.

Hope you find the time to finish this as I enjoy the TYW era!
