  • That "Lost in Time" Doctor Who boxset will be at the top of my wishlist this year!! Being an avid fan of early film and television restoration, I have the upmost respect for the work that must have gone into piecing together the scattered fragments of original prints, still photo's and cut scenes into what will probally be the most comprehensive look at what will forever be the countless "Lost Episodes" of Doctor Who's early years.

I remember one story in particular about an episode from the early years that was sent by the BBC to Australia, but was deemed to graphic by Australian censors. What I heard happened was the Australian censors cut the footage that featured a man being hanged and aired the rest of the episode, which has since been lost in both Britain and Australia. Ironically, the footage of the man being hanged that was cut initially is all that remains of that entire episode, or so I've heard.

    • Anything with the Daleks will be on my shopping list - including Curt's scenario...

I think the 2005 Dr Who had two programs that featured the Daleks and the shows were exceptional both in script and looks...

      • Yes both the "Dalek" and "Parting of the Ways" episodes featured the Dalek's and neither disapointed. Personally I was impressed with the chemistry actors like Eccleston and Billie Piper had with the Daleks themselves when they had to interact with what were essentially props on a sound stage.

It says allot about the caliber of actors involved with the series. Tis a shame Eccleston had to go .

        • Yes, some of the dialogue between the chained Dalek and Eccleston was almost Shakesperrean in tone.... good scripting...

The CBC in Canada showed the latest version of Dr Who on tv over the summer months. Luckily I have satellite...

btw, here is the toll free number for the CBC station:

          1-866-306-4636

It is a free call from anywhere in Canada.

Canadians should call and request the CBC re-broadcast the 13 episodes of the 2005 Dr Who program with Christopher Eccleston.

I think one viewer request equals between 5,000 and 10,000 TV viewers to station programmers.

So a handful of requests can make a difference.

A while back I made a request for a station to show a program I wanted and within 3 weeks it was shown. That was awesome....

          • Well I've bid on eB(r)ay to buy ToT just so I can play this scenario (and maybe create some of my own when I've finshed all of my professional exams - 1 1/2 years time ) - so Curt, it looks good, and it had better play well too!

There are tons of good episodes and some really duff ones too.

              Some classics include:

              'The Celestial Toymaker'
              'Evil of the Daleks'
              'The Claws of Axos'
              'Terror of the Autons'

In fact, you can read synopses on all the good (and silly) ones right here:
Anything from the series with the first two Doctors and the fourth are usually good.

When it comes to a series as varied as Who, everyone has their tastes!
What was the one where the store mannequins came to life and started attacking people? (Not the one from the recent series, I'm talking about one from at least about 15 or so years ago) I'm not a Dr Who fan, but THAT had me utterly terrified as a child. I know they joke about it being a "Kids hide behind the sofa" TV show, but I remember actually doing just that, when I saw that show one night...

And ToT, for all it's many faults, is a worthy purchase, when one considers what people on here have been able to accomplish with the expanded options that it opens...

I will strive to make this one a blast...
And if you like the emphasis on combat and adventure,
instead of empire building, this is what I can promise!

                  That's the one!

For some reason, the Autons always seemed to give people the creeps...

Must have been some inate fear of mannequins that the 'Who' developers had tapped into...!

                    • Good God Curt!! You should be getting paid for this . This caliber of graphics in every category (cities, terrain, units and icons) along with the rules and events file deserve some kind of financial reward from the BBC. I see you went with the "classic" Emperor Dalek design, smart choice .

Looks like Patrick Troughton there along with UNIT are moving in for the kill against his highness, best of luck to them!!

By the looks of things this is nearing completion, I better get moving on that title screen and fast.

                      • Thanks, my friend!

The Dalek Emperor will be an interesting target in the final
version, and capturing him will give the player many benefits.

No major rush for that title, take as long as required...!
I don't plan to have this one ready till perhaps after Xmas.

                        • I have decided to redo the Human city map, as I felt it was not planned out well-enough
for a good fight. Now I feel it is more like it was meant to be. Reconstruction is going
at a far quicker pace than it took to make the original map anyhoo! More to come...

So...Here is another fun little screenie for the folks at home!

The dastardly Davros sends his Imperial Daleks onto the attack...!

                          • Well I'm glad to hear the redesign is going good in regards tothe map of the human city. Is this human city London out or rather a generic unamed city meant to represent the devastated world of man? How big exactly is the map for the human city?

                            Comment

                            • Nice perception, dude!

Yep - The city will represent the Earth's struggle to defeat the Dalek invasion.

The maps will all be 75x150 tile maps, all the same size, due to ToT's multi-map system...!

Which reminds me, I will have to contact techumseh about some advice!
