    Game Concept

-“The World is Flat”. Actually a round map of the Eastern hemisphere, as if Columbus' journey were to find a route to Asia, and nothing else
-No arbitrary point system. No invasion limitations.

    Civilizations

    -Euro (Start in/around Germany)

    -Afikan (Starts in/around Zimbabwe)

    -Indus (Starts in/around Fertile India)

    -Asiatic (Starts in/around Fertile China)

Plus one (or two) of the below:

    -Caucasus (NE Caspian)

    -Oceanic (Australia)

    Featured Rules

    -1x1x, Deity
    -2 Settler start
    -No city bribe
    -No Huts
    -1.5 tech Paradigm
-8 external trade routes per civ
    -Extended Oracle (Industrialization)
-At least a dozen unique civ specific city names per civ. Why not use them??
    -No Diplo guiding allowed
-Tech trading only when each offered tech was discovered by respective Civ
-No terraforming; ie.) use of added engineer options. You may chop forest, hack jungle, grow forest all you want. Explosive based terrain forming = off limits. Obviously farmland and rail are allowed
    -Rah Rules for all else

INITIAL DISCOVERY OF THESE 3 TECHS HAS THE HOST CHANGE THE RULES TEXT AND RE-LOAD WITH CORRESPONDING RESOURCE VALUE:

-Iron Working; Iron goes from 4shields/0trade worth --> 4shields/3 trade worth
-Industrialization; Coal goes from 4shields/0trade worth -->5shields/4trade worth
-Automobile; Oil goes from 4shields/0trade --> worth 10shields/10trade worth

    Unit Changes

    -Diplomat cost 60
-(!!!)Legion 6/2 pike flag, 50 shield cost(!!!)
-Modern military unit index which expands unit specialization(s) and significantly weakens howitzers

    Justification

Starting positions are thus far quite equidistant from the ~5~ oil middle east. Discrepencies in distance to reach said territory is made up subtly by land fertility. There is at least one LOCAL oil for each civilization. Coal is a little more plentiful, but also dotted with fairness in mind.

    Power resources breakdown

    -1 Rome/Italy

    Further Considerations

For discussion; a few topics recently brought up by ljube

-Plumbing for aqueducts (Pottery+Construction). Add as a technology, or is it too detrimental to builders?
    -Power of Great Library
    -Power of Marco Polo's
    -Power of Colossus
-Diplomats; to steal, or not to steal?

    Schedule

Thanks for showing up bright and early this morning, everyone! We had one player sleep in and another improbable for reason of prior commitment, but it still looks like a strong base intererest for this game will provide the start we want next week.

For the original "World Is Flat" A game - our start date is:

    USA November 21st @ 9:00am

Please confirm your availability this week, and set yourselves to be there

As you've surely noticed, I've also now added a B game for player consideration. Based on the availability and interest of both Deity and Makeo - this parallel game could surely turn into a powerhouse story rivalling Sunday's own.

Most likely scheduling time(s) for a B game would be USA Friday Nights, USA Saturday Mornings, or USA Saturday Nights - as I understand? I amongst others would delight to join a Saturday morning B game, but will let you two blokes figure it all out first

Good luck, and see the rest of you this Sunday morning

    Oceania

    Player: Cyber-Spyder

Description: A modest and isolated start; the Oceanic tribe’s success depends on a coastal hugging population to contact the world outside and excel in diplomacy. Trade and/or bitter warfare between the Asiatic in SE Asia’s island chains may well define the future of two civilizations

      Asiatic

      Player: Markus

Description: The population powerhouse of this known world - the Asiatic depend on brute size and a shining assortment of early resources to set the pace of progression. But possible hostile expansion of an increasingly crowded and resource hungry population may mark their later ages..

        Euros

        Player: Ljube

Description: Subtlety, refinement, and eventual control. These are the trademarks of a European tribe which will likely see key growth and possible world leadership by the Industrial age. Peace with the Caucasians, or at least bordered terms of non aggression - seem almost essential for an early Euros to gain footing and succeed

          Afrikan

          Player: Orangesaber

Description: A sure fire terrain encouraging massive population and relative isolation. Though with relative lack of trade rich resources - the Africans may find it beneficial to work closely with more advanced peoples of afar

            Caucasus

            Player: Zylka

Description: Dark horse of Eurasia; a settlement position which forces the rough Caucasus tribe to be as advantageous, and perchance threatening, as possible. Key physical binder of all the 4 mainland tribes - the Caucasus people may find potential or peril of being such close a neighbour, with all else

Again, I would love a spot in this game. Next Sunday will not be possible for me, but beyond that, things look wide open.

My schedule is for Friday night and Friday night only unfortunately. Same time as last years Classical diplo. maybe an hour earlier.
If we don't get the classical dip up and running again, I think it would be cool to play the same map as the other game. I'd like five players max.
Estimated start date would be thanksgiving friday.

I'd prefer continue the Euro-classic on USA Fri nights; otherwise I'm with Makeo.. I'll take Oceania

And we'll "adjust" some of the rules

                            Okay, the issues...
                            - adding a tech called plumbing? Don't see any point.
                            - power of wonders - if you're worried about them upsetting the balance why don't we limit every civ to one wonder each? And leave them as standard.
                            - diplomats - tech stealing should be allowed. Very much so.

I agree with Spyder on first and last. Plumbing, I think - is an excellent idea when worried about a game full of builders.. but with excellent expanders such as yourself and I, Ljube; having a few builders around uhindered and without new rule confusion gives quite the interesting balance of strategies.

For 60 cost diplomats.. I'd say tech stealing is absolutely allowed. Remember that we're trying out a tech trade system where each party must have discovered by themselves their own offer; which in itself will slow reckless and slutty overall tech advancement

For Wonders - in all honesty, I'm myself comfortable with status quo. Colossus, Great Library, Lighthouse, Hanging Gardens, Marco Polo's - they're all damn powerful early wonders in our settings, and no one player is that likely to get two of them. Spread the great projects, spread the strategies - right?

So hopefullt people show next week...
I'm for sure. Markus has confirmed and will set his alarm. As has Orange. Ljube and yourself (Spyder) are of course, two more definates

we've got a full game with room for the Indians. And even if a sub could start them off this Sunday morning, Dylan seems able to take them from there!
