        Thanks!

Honestly, it was for the Admiral that I played with much more planning than I usually do, to achieve a result that I would dare to share with him!

        • And if my count is correct, with bribed units and the supported ones that where disbanded, the Russians lost between 170 and 180 units in 4 turns, ouch...

I might have overdone the defensive part of my attack, as the AI NEVER tried to counter-attack on land, only with some ships that kept on crushing on the coastal defenses I built in Beachhead!

But as it didn't slow me to much, I guess it's alright! And I had much much fun!

          • I'm back...

            Gentlemen,
            I'm back.
Slowly moved to London I've finally managed to get a new pc and an internet connection.
However the new pc has XP and I've been so lucky to get a virus in the first internet connection .
Things to do before starting again civing:
            i) find a Civ2 patch for XP (or it's because of the virus?)
ii) get rid of the f***ing bastard worm
iii) remember not to access the internet without firewall and antivirus on
iv) in the spare time (apart from civ obviously) start a pc course...

Hope to be back in the next few days.

            googol... this is a number!

            • Welcome back!!

For XP-Home at least, no extra patches are necessary to run Civ, other than the usual game patches...2.42, etc..

Good luck with the virus, worm problem.

d/loaded the patch, I'm still missing some .dll files... I think the viruses have done more damage than I've thought...

I must definitely find some spare time to dedicate to the problem...

                      • Initial reaction: we have railroad, howies, and spies. This game is over; all that remains is the mopping up.

I completely with Cyrion's earlier remark that logistics are the most important thing at this point. We need lots of engineers and more transports.

On the science front, the only worthwhile tech left is Theology (1 gold per city per turn), but I don't see the point in spending the beakers to finish off Radio and then research Theology. Since I won't be doing any more science, I can sell off all research buildings. Since growth is unimportant, I can sell off sewers, aqueducts, and granaries.

The goal is to milk our Fundy cash cow for all she's worth, using the cash to crank out more engineers and military. There's lots of nice flat land on the Viking/English/Russian continent, suitable for railroading.

                        More to follow...

                            • A small point Cyrion - I note your use of a food caravan to grow Beachhead - would not a second Engineer 'b'ing in have been more cost effective?

                              • Nope, you misread me (or maybe I miswrote?? )!

I disbanded the food caravan to provide for the first rows of production, so that City walls could be rushbuilt without too much cost!

I might not have been necessary, though, as I would have had enough cash anyway...
