Did we send and / or receive any diplo messages?
Has the letter Robert proposed been sent?

I think we need to be very active in this department.

The letter(s) has(have) been sent. No responses so far.
Seems like our Incan/German friends do not consider diplomacy to be very important.

          Response from the Inca:

          (German text below)

We thank you for you friendly warning.

Regrettable, the scout, who was tasked with delivering the warning
message to our council was so scared by the panther that he missed the
way and did not find it back in time. We have received this message
          just now.
The scour in question was thrown into the panther cages for training purposes.

The Incan nation greets their neighbours and pays them the respect
that your ambassador has paid us.
Our emissary comes in peace and strives to expand his knowledge.

The wise men of the Incas have asked the gods to unveil their will.
The Oracle has spoken and revealed its wishes to them:
Your people and our people are growing and multiplying, and the
children of our peoples are to grow up without fear until our time
repeats itself for the hundred-fiftieth time since the start of the
          world.
The Inca people respect the will of the Gods and wish to know whether
          the Ottomans think alike.

The Ottomans are not the only people we have encountered in these
unknown lands but they are by far the friendliest.

Both Ottomans and Incas are diligently inventing new technologies.
However, they do not do this independently because each accomplishment
of the one nation will cast a shadow on the other.
The shadow can be of utmost importance, and if it is coordinated and
arranged, it can be beneficial for both parties. Are the Ottoman
scholars willing to discuss this with our astrologers?

It would be wise to share knowledge in order to get to know this
foreign world quicker and better and to stand our ground. So what do
the Pashas of the Ottomans say on this?

          ------------------------------------------

Excellent news and an elegantly formulated letter.

I think we should agree to this treaty until turn 150.
Furthermore I am all in favour of some science allignment in order to get maximum bonusses.
Of course wonder related science actions must remain a secret.

I say we offer them open borders.

This will get them clearly into our camp: a NAP until T150, open borders and science agreement.

AND they have met more civs, so we may need a friend more than they..

And if our diplo department formulates our answer,
I am prepared to translate it once more as a gesture towards them.
I am under the impression it helps!

I agree with Calanthian, this is good news. And I agree with his proposals.

I wonder which civ they have met and which direction East or South or by sea.

How does the science agreement proposal work?.

Both Ottomans and Incas are diligently inventing new technologies.
However, they do not do this independently because each accomplishment
of the one nation will cast a shadow on the other.

arranged, it can be beneficial for both parties. Are the Ottoman
scholars willing to discuss this with our astrologers?
Is it like that 30% bonus if already researched by another civ or do they mean we each arrange to tech steal from each other.

Edit: I see Cal has already answered this.

The Inca's reference to the 'Oracle': was that just coincidental to our assessment about a wonder being built ?

But not by them. Or are they testing our 'intelligence' skills.

Great to finally see a positive response. And good to hear that we are the friendliest team they've met so far. Let's agree to everything they offered. It'd be helpful too to get some indication on where the other civs are, and who they are.

I think it's best now indeed to agree with their proposal for the reasons already mentioned.

Robert are you going to write a response?

I believe we are in agreement.

you should take into consideration that Inca will be a little backward compared to us. Ofc they can see our gnp graphs, but still showing them our techpath could make them even more envy and wary. They might go on a military path just to stop us.

Tech trading is off in this game, right?
So we can't exchange techs with them. Then what are they after? They just want to know what we are researching?
They want to discuss research paths? They'll soon enough know what we are researching/have researched. I only see 1 advantage: not go after the same tech at the same time, b/c we only benefit from eachother if we research a tech that the other already knows. Is that what they are after?

We can indeed accept the peace proposal, imho.

If we agree I can write a concept response.

Yes I think they are after the "tech known by others" bonus.
