No way at all the redcoat is the #2 UU when it comes with Rifling, which is so far into the game it shouldn't even be counted. Why not just do Germany? Panzers are nice... Or Russia? Better laboratories? Amazing...

Stock exchange... same issue, plus we have far less trade opportunities with more closed borders.

I really don't get the hammam love, but oh well.

On hammam: I tend to end up in almost every city with an aquaduct: so in my play style a hammam is great!

Well I favour a mining and fish start. Fish (wb) because early contact with other civs helps with diplomacy. Not all contact will be by land. And also for the trade/tech contribution. Therefore of the options, my first two choices are Rome and Carthage and last the Ottomans. I place Carthage just ahead of Rome because of the useful UU.

Edit: I read the Sulla thread and upgraded Ottomans. I still think if we are on or near the coast we should research fish as soon as we have a coastal city.

Edited vote. If both turnplayers are going to argue so hard for the hammam, I guess I'll take out Korea. Still not convinced enough to give the Otts more than 1, though.

Spanish took Zulu. Amazed that Rome is still available, but apparently I overvalue them or something

RE Byz: Mys+Wheel is quite weak for techs, the UU is nice, but the UB... a theater? Might be useful for handling whip anger, but overall it's just too meh.
