Actually, DoE1 did end in a nuclear apocalypse once it switched to non-diplo, though I don't think anyone was really into it at that point. I agree on no nukes. I don't see the point in including them in MP, and DoF would've been a lot less enjoyable if they were in. It gives the tech leader way too much power compared to other points in the game.

        Agreed.

But from diplomatic point of view:
Communicate we want barbs, nukes and corps in.
Then we can drop nukes and barbs.
We agreed this stance so as to negotiate Corp in

It's not gona work like that. Every team will have one vote. If nukes stays in thanks to our vote then we will have them despite most of us are against it.

Barbs: yes, but can be discussed
Nukes: yes, but can be discussed
I thought that left the negotiating door open.

Also please note Lord Parkins post on CFC re settings.

Many of these have already been decided. (See attached Excel table summarizing the votes to date.)

It's more useful and clear to list the things which haven't yet been voted on (or reached a consensus). I'd suggest you edit the first post with these things, and I'll subsequently edit this post with Team RB's settings preferences. Also note that "random seed on reload" is irrelevant for simultaneous turns, as it's automatically on.

Things which have already reached consensus or are very close to consensus:

              House Rules:
              Nukes - BANNED (4 agree, 1 unsure, 2 disagree)
Spies - ON but civic/religion missions BANNED (4 agree, 1 unsure, 2 disagree)
              Corporations - ON (5 agree, 2 disagree)

              Game Settings:
Game Speed - NORMAL (3 agree, no votes against)
              Huts - OFF (5 agree, 1 unsure, 1 disagree)
              Events - OFF (4 agree, 1 unsure, 2 disagree)
Always War - OFF (5 agree, 2 disagree)
              Tech Trading - OFF (unanimous)
Vassal States - OFF (3 agree, no disagreement)
Unrestricted Leaders - ON (4 agree, 3 disagree)

              Mod Requirements (if any):
              Known tech bonus - DEFAULT (4 agree, 1 wants 50%, 1 wants 100%)
Bug mod - OFF (3 agree, 2 unsure, 1 has reservations, 1 disagrees)

              Map Settings:
Map - MAPMAKER'S CHOICE, something random/special, decent amount of land, not archipelago
              Wrap - TOROIDAL (3 agree, 2 don't mind, 1 flat, 1 cylindrical)
Mirrored starts - NO (6 agree, 1 disagree)
Fair/balanced starts - YES (4 agree, no disagreement)
Engineered starts - NO (6 agree, no disagreement)

              Choosing Civs and Leaders:
Multiple or exclusive leaders - EXCLUSIVE (6 agree, 1 disagree)
Civ/leader selection - general opinion is in favour of SNAKE PICK with UNRESTRICTED leaders

Things which are close to consensus and/or still need to be voted on by multiple teams:
(Note there is a small amount of overlap with the list above.)

              House Rules:
City Gifting - Banned outright, or restricted (if so, how)?

              Game Settings:
              Game Speed - Normal?
Difficulty - Prince, Monarch, or something else? (Bearing in mind increased Toroidal maintenance costs.)
Vassal States - Off or on?
Barbarians - Off, normal, or raging?

              Mod Requirements (if any):
Double Move mod - or Civstats plus an admin-enforced double move rule?
No Score mod - yes or no?

              Map Settings:
Size - Leave it to the mapmaker's judgment, or request something specific?
Allow all teams pre-optics contact - Yes or no?
Fair/balanced starts - Yes or no?

              Choosing Civs and Leaders:
              Selection method - Snake pick?

Sites should check the attached excel table (or just look at the list above) and see what they haven't yet voted for.

I suggest the deadline for all settings votes to be submitted should be 4 June 2012. Let's try to get this sorted out over the weekend - team leaders, start any necessary polls in your forums ASAP.

The bigger the map the better for us as that means we will best be able to use our traits effectively and the war mongers will have to travel furher/longer paying more up keep in order to attack.

I suggest we vote on emperor difficulty. reason: we prefer builder games, less warmongering in early game. Also I think most of us prefer fewer but more developed cities so higher maintenance won't hurt us too much.

                    From CFC settings thread.

Just a reminder that sites should place their votes on DIFFICULTY if they haven't already. Apolyton, the Spanish team, and Civfr have not yet placed any vote for difficulty that I am aware of. If you have no preference, please say so.

                    Current votes:

                    Prince - 1
                    Monarch - 2
                    Immortal/Deity - 1
                    Unsure or don't care - 2
The Spanish team have voted for Emperor now. So now would be a good time to register our vote, if we agree on emperor. I am ok with emperor,

If no-one else posts soon I'll indicate Apolyton votes emperor as interim vote.

                                This from CFC
Looks like difficulty will be either Monarch or Emperor. Civfr hasn't voted yet. Let's get this finalized one way or the other, folks.

                                Prince - 1
                                Monarch - 2
                                Emperor - 2
                                Immortal/Deity - 1
                                Unsure or don't care - 2

We also need barbarian votes from almost all sites (off/normal/raging). So far:

                                Off - 1
                                Normal - 2
                                Raging - 1
I am going to check what we thought about barbs raging or otherwise.
