  • PLEASE keep a differentiation in your mind between IN-game statements and OUT-of-game feelings. It may be perfectly characteristic in the situation for the Chinese to get riled up over what happened, even if the player doesn't actually personally think there was anything wrong with what you did as a player. Mold a story line to go with it and detach your sensitivities.

    • I agree. And sorry I meant 18 to 20 hrs minimum per side, not 10...

        • @vikings: ofc you have no shot at winning, everyone knows it will be us who will beat everyone shortly.. or the Zulus. .
(ooc I could tell my theory what China is doing and why, but it's better to be kept ic.) Having enemies is part of the fun, now the pauses are really annoying at least if it were a bigger war, but I have a feeling there is not a really bloody war happening anywhere right now.

          • Japan has not played his turn and there are 8 hours left on the timer. If Japan does not play within 2 hours I will have to play my turn as I will be unable to play after that.

Despite my own shortcomings I do believe that a 50/50 split of a long turn timer during war is fair and that it is the responsibility of the nations at war to play their turns. Of course, during exceptional circumstances we should allow for a pause if it is requested and for a good reason. Just my 2 cents.

And finally @ Vikings: you think you have it tough? I am fighting a war against Japan supported by China, Inca and England. I now have 6 cities. You think I have a chance of winning the game? I may not even have a chance to win the war. I play to fulfill other minor goals that I have made for myself and try to find fun in those. Of course it is very frustrating to see all my hard work go down the drain because of the decisions of other players that I have no control over, but such is the ruling of an empire. It is hard and bitter work and should not be taken too seriously. In previous diplogames I near developed an ulcer from the frustrations I suffered. It is not worth it. Find fun in other things than winning the game, such as writing cool content or roleplaying your civ in a cool way

            • Imho: those who can't play at least once a day should not declare war..
I suggest that after at least 24h it should be considered that they missed the turn Unless they ask for more time, but then they should start looking for a sub temporary until they can be sure again to play at least once a day. IT might not be the most fair thing, but otherwise we risk killing the game with the constant pauses.

England is no more supporting Japan than the Vikings are supporting you. Japan paid a fair price for their units. We worked out a deal to sell ships to you too but you reneged. I have no sympathy.

Also, on a 50/50 split. And yea, if Japan doesn't play soon, then just go for it. No player should hold the game hostage.

                • Speaking of which, America you can just skip me. I will play after you as I am OOTown.

I promise I won't attack this turn or next turn. I just don't want to hold up the turn.

                  • I'm still unable to play until tuesday when my computer comes back from the repair show and my sub is going on vacation. Is there someone else who can sub until I get my computer back?
