Going to try a complete reinstallation tonight. I was out of town over thanksgiving with no computer access.

Very interested to see how India managed to swipe back Bombay with my two quad promoted archers standing guard.

Re: Mongola, for the record, I get the idea that Mongolia is not complaining or accusing anybody. He just refuses help for reasons that may be right or wrong. I did not get the idea that he had a negative ooc view on Russia or China's player.

D'oh, poor Arabia While doing the clean install, did you go into the different directories after uninstalling and removing every last trace of civ? I remember that as one of the things that one of those guys in one of those forum posts said was very important.

If you did, then we must be missing something. PM me if you noticed anything odd, or just PM me about what happened, we're not giving up yet Btw, I assume you are installing from a DVD?

I did a search of my c drive for "civ" and deleted everything I could. A few items wouldn't delete. I then used the uninstall program with everything checked off.

I really think this is somehow related to windows 7. I had a heck of a time just getting the thing installed with the 3.19 patch. Installing civ4 then installing bts causes a game crash when bts tries to auto update. The solution for that is to install civ4, then 1.61, then 1.73, then install bts, then 3.17, then 3.19.

I might actually try to install xp in tandem and install this there.

Yes I am installing from a DVD. One other item of interest is that I have been playing this on win7 since the start of the game, so it DOES work with win7.

Rough day today, don't feel like wrestling with this again tonight.

Aw man, poor guy.
You say bts causes a game crash when bts tries to auto-update; I wrote earlier that you shouldn't startup bts in between, but that you should install civ4, then bts, do not start up the game, and you can then do patch 3.19 straightaway, it's a cumulative patch according to Robert, you don't need the other patches. But don't start anything up in between.
I installed Civ4 with the DoE patch on two W7 machines, not a single hitch. Maybe your problem is somehow related to the things W7 does with regards to Administrator privileges and what that does to the directory structure. A few questions:
- is your user account the only administrator account on the computer?
- did you do the whole install process by running everything as administrator?
- is the crash exactly the same as before, the one you posted screenshots of?

I know a lot of issues comes with the auto-update function. So try these simple steps, but follow them exactly and say if it works.

- Make clean install of Civ4. Dont start it!
- Install Beyond the sword. Dont start it!
- Download THIS and install it.

- start the game and enjoy working Civ4 BTS 3.19.
- then close the game, go and read carefully the instructions where and how to install the Destiny Of Empires mod so you can play the diplo-game.

His internet works, only his game is a problem.
