  • Hi all, I'm back from Rome!
We stayed a bit longer then expected 8)

    Thanks for playing without me
I'm sorry for not revealing my identity by not playing my turns and not posting 8)
C'mon guys, it's 2009, the world is a village and my cell phone has more power then your computer had 5 years ago :P

I'll lower the clock to 12 hours again when I'm home. (I'm at work now, didn't spend much time at home).
All wars are over, I think?

Big kudo's to all for having spotless wars without ooc whining, double turn exploits and heated heads! It's really perfect!
As a matter of fact, it's almost becoming a tad bit boring

Obviously civilisation is not a strategy game.

having played many board games over the years such as Avalon Hills collection of great masterpieces, i hav ebeen spoilt and would love to find a MP game on computer that allows the same level of thought to be put into each attack.

On the contrary I think Civ is a strategy game but it's not on the same level as Avalon Hill. I played Blitzkrieg throughout my highschool (yes I was the proverbial geek ). At one point they were planning to make it into a computer game but it never came to be. Is Avalon Hill still in business? I don't think so. Today I have a closet full of games from them all still playable with rules intact. I wonder if they are worth anything?

      • I loved Axis & Allies!

Have you tried Hearts of Iron II multiplayer (I am saying II, since I have not been able to understand III yet :-) just think even more options, triple the territories)? I am sure that the hundreds of unit types, supply lines, combat readiness, morale, ship ranges, aerial missions, convoy raiding options, fortifications, aa batteries, nukes, v1's, v2's, strategic bombardments and the fact that the world is split up into thousands of contestable provinces all put together would satisfy any person wanting to get into the nitty gritty of complex battle tactics.

peopel complain how my votes are low i am letting people know why... upto them whether they want my votes or nort, others may like their stories so keep doing it, but no one else is bravbe enough to post how they voting and why,
This is why I hate the story voting aspect. Stories are so subjective to personal taste that no one gets a fair piece of the pie. No complaints on how Korea votes on story, perfectly acceptable to vote low if you don't like the story. Just saying that because there is no standard on what is a good/bad story, the votes are too varied to really be considered for purposes of who's winning. It's what we have for this game and I go with it, but it should be looked at for the next game

Dipo gamins is about being subjective it is not about just measuring Solid things.

But i agree for those that prefer more solid gmaes a genre should be mad efor them too, less about the subjective stories.

But please keep the DIPLO subjective style too.

                      • Britannia is right. Only civstats was down. Everything is fine again.
                        We're back at an 11h (12h effectively) turn-timer.

edit: not Britannia is right but England.

                          • Technically I am still at war with Russia. However, now as we have shortened the timer, its not possible for me to wait for him to play first. So I will take my turn now, unless someone shouts very soon. There will not be any offensive move.
