Beyond the Pit [Pitboss Diplomacy Game] [Story Thread] . PART 11 (June 2009)
[ooc: Rome, you're a bit paranoid anyway, if the cease fire ends it can only end the next turn of course since I have sticked to the cease fire this turn already. anyway, don't be that paranoid, I'll answer you before the 5 hours ar over. Now I'm off picking up my kids. And I've been sleeping most of the afternoon. My wisdoom teeth have been removed and it hurts alot
You just play your move, the cease fire ends next turn for both at the same turn, or it is being changed into a real peace. And don't worry about the UN, it has rejected the peace proposal by 83something votes if England would have played I might have had peace ................ I'm too honest for clicking 'abstain' ]

Somewhere in the dark desolated outskirts of Owari two strange men has a meeting in secret...
-So, a new mission, I guess..As I see the last ones haven't exactly worked out to our favor after all.
-The time was not right.. as it turned out.. *hands over a big envelope* This will be my last assigment for you.
The other opens the envelope and takes a fast look on the picture in it. -hmm, Interesting.. but understandable..why don't you do it yourself? -I want it to be more dramatic.. and more convincing..
-Convincing? -Don't worry.. I'm not that mad.You will find the detals inside and we will meet again to finalize the plan. Now go.
But lets not confuse IG and OOC. Marcus can be as unreasonable as he wants, and if that means he wants to push for a decision on the peace before he moves this turn, he can. Unreasonable maybe, but IG all is fair in love and war. And Marcus migth be being paranoid, but he certainly believes he has very good reason to be concerned about the delays Archelaus seems to have been inserting into this.
ooc: of course and now I have good reasons to push the decision to the last minute of the 5 hours :B to annoy Marcus, maybe he'll die before there will be peace

Emperor Alexander II of Sparta commits suicide in his cell in prison
Former Emperor Alexander II, son of Menelaus II, of Sparta, killed himself in his cell in the prison of Athens.
There was a note on his body that read:
I die in honour.
Respect to the Romans, my arch enemy, honourable and strong, my bane
I spit on the Russians, the root of all evil
May the Japanese live in peace forever
Worst of all: Pantev of Portugal, betrayer!
I lay a curse on you and on Portugal
Cursed be Portugal! The gods will bring ruin and dead upon you.
Cursed be all nations that trade or deal with Portugal! The gods will bring dead to you.
Everyone that set foot inside Portugal will be doomed by this curse, from now to all eternity.
I warn you all, nations on the earth, the curse of a Spartan Emperor is always fulfilled by the gods.
Alexander II, Emperor of Sparta, Japan and Korea
Son of Menelaus II, Emperor in the line of Alexander I and Menelaus I
Archelaus read the note, shaked his head, but immediately ended all trade deals with the Portuguese. He knew that the curse from Spartan Emperors was always fulfilled indeed.
The Peace Treaty between Rome and Greece resulted in the end of the Spartan Empire. Korea now was a Roman province, Japan was released and a free nation again. The Greek colonies (New Sparta and the Gobi) were also lost.
Archelaus had the task to lead the new Greek Kingdom.
Soon he should be crowend as the new King of Greece.
Greece had no King for a long time.
Right now the Greek cities suffered because of the loss of many trade deals, and the ending of all deals with Portugal because of the curse of Alexander.
[ooc: Greece is now a vassal of Rome, this is only a game mechanical way to free Japan from it's vassalage, everyone can ignore this vassalage to Rome for story reasons, it's going to be released asap anyway.]
(OOC - thats right - for the minimum period Greece IG is a vassal since this was the only way to release Japan, but I see this as a technicality and not an actual part of the history of this world. Note - this has distorted IG score - 200 add to Rome and 300 subtracted from Greece because of the vassalship, but in 9 turns this will reverse).
And apols to Japan I ran out of time to come back here and compile and post the final doc. Sorry.

I ended my vassalage with Metalheads temporarily to complete the deal we had for peace and give Ozzy the last of the promised cities. I will jump back on board next turn. Just so you guys know what is happening

The nations of Rome, Sparta, Russia, Japan, the Wynadot and the Oldonians, come together this day to put war behind them, and build a comprehensive peace for our continent.
This treaty brings militarism to an end, and creates legitimate borders between our nations within which all our people can live in peace.
We agree that:
1. Sparta and Japan’s military have comprehensively failed.
2. Alexander and Sato will be handed over to be tried in a Roman military court.
3. The Spartan Empire is to end. Japan is no longer a vassal of Sparta. Japan is a free nation.
4. Sparta will make an inventory of its heavy weaponry (tanks, military shipping, air force). 50% will be handed over to Rome. 50% will return to barracks. (The land and air forces to remain in Athens for 50 years; the military ships to remain in Spartan waters for that same period).
5. Japan will hand over to Rome all its heavy weaponry (tanks, military shipping) save for 1 destroyer for fishery protection duties, and 2 tanks for training purposes.
6. There will be a peace between Sparta, Japan, Rome, Russia, Wynadot and the Oldonians for 50 years, guaranteed by all six nations.
7. The historically Korean cities will be administered by Rome, as a new Roman province of Ultimate Thule (those still in Spartan hands to be handed over).
8. Roman control of the Gobi desert is legitimate and permanent, on condition that Rome supplies oil to Sparta in perpetuity.
9. In accordance with the Roman-Mayan treaty, Roman legitimately exercises governership of Durango.
10. The city of Samos will be handed over to Japan, as compensation for the losses suffered in this war declared by Sparta.
11. The cities of Kakashi and Tokyo will be handed over to the Wynadot.
12. The Japanese governship of the island of Cape Fear is legitimate and permanent.
13. The Russian governship of Manila Harbour is legitimate and permanent.
14. The city of Alcestas will be handed over to Russia, on condition that for 50 years Russia maintains open borders with Japan.
15. The borders between Japan and Oldonia which existed prior to war will be re-established, save that the city of Anasazi will pass to the Oldonians.
My friends, the Russian and Wynadot people, nations of the world.
I have decided that the Pax Romana is to be dissolved.
Many here in Rome recognise that this great alliance was raised up by the one god centuries before, for the purpose of the defeat of the evil militarism of Alexander II of Sparta and his ally Sato of Japan. It has been victorious and achieved is divine mandate.
But that mandate is now at an end. The Spartan Empire is no more. The Pax Romana has achieved its goal, and can pass now into a glorious history.
I invite the Russian and Wynadot people to a final conference and celebration marking the end of the Pax Romana in three periods time.
Naturally, Rome retains its close friendship and love for the Russian and Wynadot people. It celebrates that the Treaty of Durango recognises their bravery and suffering in the recent great war with grant of new territories. In that treaty Rome also guarentees their borders for 50 years.
This is a great but also sad day for me, but a great new future lies ahead for all the people of our fair continent.
