  • For the record: CS/Robert is the sole of this community - he holds us together and makes it possible for us to play. *(Hosting)

As usual there was much fights in this game - just hope that we filter it out and have a cleaner game next time.

    • I second that - he has kept going when many of us would have just walked away.

I still hope Capo and Pinchak play again as they are real characters who add something special to a game. You might get an argument from Pinchak but will always try - he actually did a very good job from a not very good position.

      • I agree with you Jon!

I actually got pretty lucky for a momment there. I believe there was a war plan for Pinchak and Deity to hit New Portugal from both sides. Well it never happened but i would have had one tough job trying to defend and push the most powerful civ at that time and Pinchaks hate at that time of Portugal.

Yes Pinchak is a very interesting player brings much to the game. Capo well he is one of those players where Diplo isn't Diplo without him.

        • Both are good in charachter players, but also people who don't want to compromise and walk away. The game will be both less interesting and more stable without them. I'm sure that with the new players we'll also have interesting storylines.

But HEY, this game ain't over yet! My biggest thing is yet to come 8)

            • The plan I'm talking about now will work, the really big plan I had won't work
It would have worked if not one of the participants would have dropped out Ok, even then it most probably wouldn't have worked either, but it would have been awesome though

I'll tell you all in about 15 days

edit: don't worry too much about my plans They're only there to keep me busy

              • I get an ominous feeling that I will be kept too busy for my own comfort.

                • Spaceship launched and ... the computer went down.

                  Ominous really ....

I will try to get into finish the turn later, as long as it doesn't interfer with Portugal who technically I am at war with (though no fighting has happened). Its worth loggin in just to annoy St Jon anyway.

                  • Apparently the gods are also against your victory, I'm sorry for you

edit: the entire pitboss server crashed. I have loaded the latest save. I can't promise that that save includes the spaceship launch.

                    Game's up again.

                    • Sadly its happened again. Space ship launches and the game goes down.

The save you loaded up Robert was before my turn, so I started to play my turn again, laucnhed, and it all froze up again. Obviously I can't tell from here if it means the server has crashed, but it looked the same as earlier, so I guess it has.

God is obviously having a quiet rest up in the heavens and doesn't want to be disturbed.

                      Any suggestions?

I can't play now until about this time tomorrow, so if you do get it up again, any chance of ensuring this turn doesn't expire before then?

                      • It's clearly a bug.

Do you mind if I try to launch the SS for you? I need your pw in that case. (won't touch anything else, won't look at anything else)

I fear that the SS will keep on crashing the game....

                        • A known bug I believe ... I was in another game once before where launching caused a crash ... caused all sorts of drama because people couldn't agree on accepting the winners claim.

Seems like this game is over. Congratulations Rome.

It has been an honour participating with all of you. Obviously several are much better players than me. Not sure what I did wrong but its likely just lack of time to understand the fine details of the game and failing to take every turn. It was boring sometimes. In the beginning I couldn't afford to miss a turn. I was coping with massive number of barbarians. They really set me back. Whether I win or not doesn't matter though. I just play for a little escape from reality.

I want to say a big thank you to Celts for our mutual respect. You really should have wiped me out and been in a better position but didn't.

I don't think I've given the game justice though, to even consider playing another diplo game. I'm sure there are better players and more dedicated you would prefer. I just don't have the time to "get in to it" like you true diplo players do. I don't read the stories thoroughly enough or to write the beautiful works of fiction. It was amazing sometimes the level of detail in the posts. Very entertaining. One negative to the game were the constant disputes and drama and another (as a new person to diplo), was the voting ... it needs to be improved ... but on the whole a great game and a nice escape. Thanks. It has been an honour.

                            • I managed the get the SS of Rome launched.
It will arrive in 15 turns. So this game lasts 14 more turns, unless something happens that throws things upside down.

The trick was first launch SS, then the pitboss server crashed but the game didn't crash immediately. I had just enough time to make a save myself before I lost connection.
Then I launched the pitboss again and loaded that save. So now we're back on track.
Rome authorized me to access his civ to pull this trick.

Civstats is down, therefore: New turn has started! 18,5h on the timer left)

Regarding the start of the current turn TWICE: I first had loaded the wrong fixed-SS-save, so when I logged in with Sparta this turn, I noticed that the SS had not been launched. Then I tried to figured it out and loaded the correct save, which then 40 minutes later proceeded the turn again.
