I would go for more of a combination of both ideas. Huts are always a good thing and there will alays be diplomacy going on in and out of the game. Stories should be encouraged but players should try to limit the stories especially the ones about nothing. Now I don't know what the turns are in BTP but Unless you are at war we should not have to go in any type of order. Never the less none of this matters right now since we still have to wait 2 months to start up.

there is absolutly no need to wait for the end of the current game.
i do know some people can only manage one game at a time so those people should not volunteer to play.
however if enoguh people want to play ASAP then lets play.
in meantime we need to continue building a player list and the styles of play we want
I will only play in a style of game where stories are an integral parto f the game. but as i psoted earleir they need to be chronolgical and aligned with time fram in game.GM of MAFIA #40 ,#41, #43, #45,#47,#49-#51,#53-#58,#61,#68,#70, #71

I want to play.
My preferences are for a Turn Based Game with the exception of the first 50-100 Turns during which War would be illegal. The start is boring and most of us turn off 'Wait at End' in SP anyway. It should be rushed through as quickly as possible so that we can reach a point where we have a good basic building block of a Civ.
Story Telling is essential, in my view, as it gives a backdrop to the entire Game. I do agree that stupid tales of killing lions or wolves are without merit but early Wonders and first encounters with other nations are not. A basic introduction of your Civ has a point as well.
I agree with no Raging Barbs, they can all but kill you very early, but I like Huts. If you have Random Events then I cannot see any reason to outlaw Huts. Both are pure luck but at least with Huts you can alter the odds by building Scouts.
I like Cyber's scoring system as it rewards those who put most effort into the Game rather then those who play it as a straight War-Game.
I do believe that the base Difficulty Level needs to be increased from Monarch. I should not be having an easy time as a Democracy fighting a prolonged War but I am in BtP. Civil Disorder must be a real danger or Wars become far too cheap to wage and War-Weariness becomes irrelevent.
As for number of Players; I don't care if it is 8 or 18 as long as those who play are actually interested in it being different from a 'Kill or be Killed' Game. I am surprised that mzprox should be anti-story as he has made a great contribution to BtP in that area alone.
No Story = No Fun Narrative. No Diplomacy = Impossible in any MP Game. No Military = No Reward for IG Skill. No IG Score = No Reward for Good Long Term Strategy.“Quid latine dictum sit, altum videtur”

Good idea but who will host? RP already sail he will host only one game at a time. So who will host the game?

It's not the AI that is my concern - hopefully you won't get any AI Civs - but is there no possible way of increasing the difficulty settings for the Players. a War should make you pay a high price under Democracy but at Noble you don't have to do more than build a Theatre and spend a little Culture and everyone is as happy as a puppy-dog.“Quid latine dictum sit, altum videtur”
