Perhaps some of these rules should be part of Diplogames in the future.

Nope. Just here. I tried once or twice a while back, but it never really caught on.
They do have this thing called Neverending Stories, which are basically all the Diplomacy, Role Playing, and Story Writing from Diplogames, but... without actually playing Civ.
I don't entirely understand the point of it, but perhaps we could convince them to add an additional element to their games/stories by embracing diplogames.Captain of Team Apolyton - ISDG 2012

Three independent judges found against him and for Capo. We had EVERY right to complain about the lack of compensation.
How anyone can blame us for the fight is beyond me. It is QUITE clear who was in the right the whole time. I don't believe in keeping quiet for the sake of harmony, although it is apparent that Cyber knew if this blew up big enough, and he held out long enough, he would get his way.

I blame all three of you. The stubbornness of being right complete overshadowed what was in the best interest of the game and the other players. I also didn't help that Capo was quite hot-headed about the situation initially. It escalated exponentially out of control from there.
What I really don't get is why the three of you can't man up and move on. The constant jabs and barbs by you (Maya) aren't helping anything. You are fanning the embers that might start yet another fire. I think all of you need to stop the playground antics. If you don't want to play, take your ball and go home. If you are going to hold a grudge for the rest of the game, you are going to cripple the game. That's something we definitely don't need.

Tbh... I'm still waiting for the ongoing talks that we were having to continue. I was under the impression that the Skype call wasn't the end of the matter, since it only ended with several of us either going to sleep or attending to RL issues.Ceeforee v0.1 - The Unofficial Civ 4 Editor -= Something no Civ Modder should ever be without =- Last Updated: 27/03/2009

As I was leaving I suggested that CS refrain from drafting units for X number of turns and delete a certain number of his machine guns as compensation for not reloading.Captain of Team Apolyton - ISDG 2012

Like I said, the odds that (more) people would leave (forever) the game if we would continue to talk for another 24 hours were much larger then the odds that The Capo would accept any compromis.
Not to mention that I fear that many other players would be far from happy with a reload.
I got pm's from people that convinced me that we should continue.
I think this is the best for the game.
Like I said before, I was willing to mellow down the defence of Knossos back to 1645. I still am, but Korea is not aiming at Knossos anymore an has started a totaly new tactic (together with the May).
Guys, I was there in the skype chat, ready to give up 95% of everything that would be fair. The Capo even in the end wasn't ready to give up anything. At a certain point it makes no sence anymore to continue talking.
This is my last post regarding this topic. We must avoid that the fight continues again.Formerly known as "CyberShy"

But I do agree with your first statement; expedience took priority over what was right and "legal" in this game. I think it was a terrible turn of events for diplogaming and the result was certainly handled incorrectly. Cybershy's final act proves all along that this man is not truly interested in playing a fair and equitable game. I may have been stubborn, just as he was, but that doesn't negate the fact that I was wronged. The group-mentality that prevailed was certainly a bad one, the mismanagement of Beyond the Pit was certainly a low-point for diplogaming. As MMC said; we will take this as a learning experience, but the lessons learned are hard ones, and ones that I hope do not get repeated.
Whenever this game ends we need to seriously look at what happened here, and I hope the Diplogamers of Apolyton realize the crucial errors that have been made in this particular game, and adopt a new decision making attitude. I for one will now attempt to create a Diplogaming community at CivFanatics. This is not to say I am attempting to split the diplogaming community at all, I just find it very disheartening that what Pinchak said came to pass. Hopefully I can prevent this from occuring on that site, and we can unite the diplogame community into one group that is not at the mercy of a clique of players."Our cause is in the hands of fate.
