However, Spain is currently my vassal and I have entered a war on their behalf. Very reluctant to find myself trying to defend Spain when its own troops aren't going to be moving and contributing. Even very difficult to make a sensible peace with Ozzy now since he knows the Spanish will be a sitting duck, when before Spains announcement I could have got a good deal for them/me.

Spain had no interest in negotiating before. And as for good deals, did you see my recent post in the story thread?

Please, surely we have learnt from our past mistakes.

We have just had a major power announce that he is dropping out in the middle of a war.

We need to decide what to do. We can't just ignore the problem.

Even if the answer is turn over his codes to me for the time being since he is my vassal, or turn it over to the AI, though I am sure none of us really want that, but we can't just ignore the problem. Remember what has happened before when we hit a problem and decide to ignore it for a while?

Don't worry, that's a civstats bug that sometimes occurs when the game is paused. We've had it in the past. I have a good save

Let us face it - we are never going to get a perma sub for Spain. The Game has reached the final stages - sad for someone to quit just when then end-game is here and everything is going to hit the fan!

I am inclined to agree with Celts that there is more sour-grapes than misery over Piercia. Probably more disinterest than either.

Spain needs to be given to someone In-Game who is not either at War or soon to be at War. English are out as they cannot be trusted to login for themselves, Vikings are the same, Wyandot are Treaty Bound to aid Russia, Maya have already opted out of the Game and Celts must jump one way or another. Only America is truly neutral and, if they will take it on, are the logical choice.

Short term, Rome is the only choice but they will soon have more War than even they might enjoy and cannot be expected to fight on so many fronts.

Very bad timing Spain! You will be missed, I do mean that, but you will miss the moments that will decide who actually wins or loses the entire Game.

If you want i can sub for Spain - looking at it tactically the Metals will walk over Spain. But i can at least take turns till they loss or peace talks restart.

Thanks, but no thanks. If I were at peace I would love a crack at a decent War but Russia has too many other interesting situations.

Feeling fairy annoyed about it all - Spain has only played one turn in about five since he was invaded. Four turns ago we could have negotiated a decent peace with Ozzy at the point when he was hesitating when it looked like Rome and Portugal were joining an active Spain against the Metals with neither Portugal nor ROme involved in other wars. Now, well I don't blame Ozzy for withdrawing his peace offer ... but, well, Spanish inactivity at the crucial moment has destroyed Spain!

Happy to sub for them myself to get this war sorted - will I act in the true interests of the Spanish people? Well as much as Penelope did recently! No idea of the Meduian politics to judge the suggestion of the Americans.

I can go into the game, pause it, then kick Spain and let you enter without unpausing. That'll avoid that the AI plays 1 Spanish turn.
