    Dear Khmer,
I earlier made a request that I have an axeman and chariot that is going through the lands to meet all the nations we have heard around. We simply request a direct route to the lands that we have heard about. Nothing more, nothing less. We also do remember our agreement that when we can, we will share world maps.

    • Pyongyang, Korea...

General Jumong sat at his desk casually; his feet resting upon the top of it, and his head hanging backwards. Listening to Foreign Minister Hae Mosu go on and on was exceedingly boring, he just wanted the man to leave...

"...and then he gives them our trade secrets anyway, he has no mettle now! Ever since he started hanging out with that stupid priest Subo!" Hae complained.

      "Monk." General Jumong said.

      "Huh?" Hae said.

"Monk, Subo is a Monk, actually a Lama to be specific. Is this going to take much longer Hae? I've got to get to Ponsan soon, and you're seriously wasting my time." he said, sitting straight up "What do you need elite guardsmen for anyway?"

"Because" Hae began "I am going to Tikal with the Aztec slaves and its a preacaution in case they break free and attack my envoy. I am also to attend the conference in Piercia and I want to arrive with splendor."

"Alright, fine, I don't know why you are travelling with slaves, if you ask me we should kill all of the Aztecs anyway. Take your pick, but hurry up!"

      Seoul, Korea...

Sejong sat down with his sister Daemok, the two were meeting for the first time ever and the newly-enlightened Emperor wanted the meeting to be informal and simple. She had brought with her Pacal Tupac, the young son of Pacal the King of the Maya. Daemok had been allowed to live by the Mayan priests who helped stage the coup that left Mel Gibson in power. Relations were certainly growing tense between the allies, and Sejong wanted to be sure that the alliance wouldn't break over these events. So he sent Foreign Minister Hae Mosu to speak with Mel Gibson himself.

"So, sister" the Emperor began "Tell me what life is like in Tikal, I have never been there."

"Well, its not like this, society is far more regimented. One generally has the same role or occupation for their whole life, and it is usually clear from birth." Daemok said "I know things tend to go along those lines here in the Imperial family of Korea, but it is that way for everyone in their culture. Although who knows what changes the priests will make."

"And these priests, did you know them well?" Sejong said, hoping to get information from his sister.

"I can't say I did, Pacal was often away on campaign against the Aztecs, and it would be unseemly for me to be seen in the company of men without my husband, I spent most of my time alone with my maidens." Daemok explained. "Of course they weren't much for conversation, I suspected they never truly liked me."

"It is a shame" Sejong said, lifting his glass "But that shall end now, you are to be treated as the Empress here in my home!"

"Speaking of Empresses," Demok began "I find it odd that you haven't taken a wife, you aren't getting any younger you know."

"Well, I have been quite busy. Establishing my Empire, my court, my ministers. Besides, I am much younger than you."

"Well, it would be good of you to establish an heir my dear brother." Daemok replied.

"Yes, you are probably correct. I am heading to Wonsan tonight, the village was destroyed during the Aztec wars, but we have rebuilt it, and I am going to send my condolences to the daughter of a Commander of mine. In my haste I sent them on a journey north to Oldonia, to report on the site of our landbridge. I sent them without proper equipment and they were killed by an army of barbarian savages. We shall go together!" Sejong said.

"What of Pacal Volcan?" Daemok asked.

"He will be fine here, I shall get him a tutor and he will learn of Korean poetry, art, and of course military training. It is never too early for that, he will be a great General one day..."

      Back in Pyongyang...

Hae Mosu was preparing to leave for his trip to Tikal when a rider arrived.

"Minister Hae, Minister Hae!" the rider said, searching for the Foreign Minister.

"I am the Foreign Minister!" Hae said approaching the rider "What is it?"

"I have a missive from the Romans my lord." he said handing the message to the minister...

      Re: Important and Classified
      Ruler of the Koreans,

The people and senate of Rome send greetings.

We recognise you as a cultured civilization worthy of the friendship of Rome. May the gods bless you with peace and security.

An honourable man has reported to me that there were treaties under negotiation between yourselves and the corrupt families which once dominated our Senate. While we cannot sanction any of the wicked plans of those who polluted the glory of Rome, we recognise that you too may have been victims of their reign. I would welcome reopening discussions of matters of mutual benefit.

      • Davros looked at the latest missive from Spain.

Another NO he thought, obviously they dont want to trade with us he thought. Some people just dont like to help other civs like ours. Here we are struggling to keep up with ther research in the world and they refuse to offer trades, we make many offers and they keep saying no.

They are obviously focused on only trading with large nations like the portugese.

Well each to their own. When we all goto meet the Great One , we are one nation that can hold its head high.

Yes the Great One hold rewards for those that are diplomatic.

        • On the walls of Meeting, looking out towards the river, two figures engaged in a heated argument. Privately, so they thought. But little in Meeting is private. The Roman ambassador (the eldery scholar, clad in his simple white toga) and his 'bodyguard' (a huge Roman Praetorian officer in battle scared armour) had been followed all day by a shadowy figure - one of the desert peoples perhaps. It had seemed so easy.

Immediately the spy, for that is the only way to describe him, realised the importance of what he was hearing. Within an hour the content was being relayed 'exclusively' for a price of course, to the representatives of every nation he could find.

          -----The report ------

"Calm down, calm done" urged the ambassador. "You have to understand that these other nations know nothing of the hardship our people faced these last years. The change disturbs them, frightens them even"

"You are too weak old man" growled the solider "These pompus oafs are insulting and threatening us. Did you hear that Spartan implying that the revolution we have fought is the sort of thing that happens every generation - doesn't he realise we have changed the pattern of thousands of years? And did you hear him threaten us shouting 'show us respect' while demanding our gold. He isn't asking for respect but for submission. I'll show him respect" the soldier draws his sword"

          "Please, please, calm down"

"But honestly, who do they think they are. We have the most powerful army on the planet, and yet they mouth these things. Phalanxes hah! Bring them on. And that Persian windbag, with this threats about his 'well-trained soliders' wanting money. If the king doesn't pay his own soliders, he deserves everything he gets"

"Let it go, we have made the People's position clear. Everyone knows that the deals of the former senators are not valid. The People need friends in this world ..." a loud snort from the soldier interupts his flow "they do, please, keep calm, don't make this more difficult than it is"

"But they act as if they are the friends of the evil men who destroyed our country. The way they try to hang on to their deals, its like they liked them, its like they were friends with those corrupt *** (some Roman expletive that the spy didn't understand).

"Leave it - that is an order". The soldier grimaces and nods, walking back down to the square, right past the spy but not noticing him.

          • The people of Khmer wandered into Vienne carrying small pouches full of shiny baubles and asked for a visit to see the city's financial advisors. Meeting with the financial advisors, the people of Khmer took out their shiny baubles and displayed them for all to see.

"What are these?" asked the advisors.

            "Coins." replied the Khmer.

            "What are coins?"

"Money. We exchange these in the market for food."

"So you don't trade your chickens for food?"

"Not any more. These coins can be passed from person to person and the coins never die nor poop on your shoes."

"What an excellent idea. Where did you get this shiny metal?"

"These are made from gold. We notice there is a gold deposit to the east. Once you expand your borders, you can make your own coins with the gold you have. You may keep these coins, we want to help you prosper."

"Thank you for your kindness. Please give our best to King Ganesh and thank him for his generosity."

And with that, the Celtic people learned about Currency from their good neighbors, the Khmer.

            • Had the spy waited a little longer, had his mind not been filled with the image of that portugese slave girl he was going to buy with money he got for this information, he would have seen the Roman ambassador after checking his 'bodyguard was gone' summon three, or was it four, messengers dictating a message to them until they were word perfect and giving them instructions to deliver the message only to the ambassadors and rulers of various nations ....

Actually we cannot be there until after our honeymoon, so apologies for that. Spain has no one but the Empress herself to attend so I will have to wait until after the honeymoon. Sorry about that but we will attend once that has finished.

If you wish Portugal will be representing both Portugal and Spain at the conference of Meeting until your arrival. We are 2 days away from arriving at Meeting our Diplomat will be more than happy to present our two nations and welcome any foreign interest towards us.

                        • Having still remembering the Roman and Persians invasions Marco made its priority for once and for all to neutralize any future threats by investing heavily in the research of superior military technologies. The latest Portuguese invention was called the Portuguese Crossbow. This was a weapon consisting of a bow mounted on a stock that shoots projectiles, that we call bolts. With crossbows Portuguese archers could release a draw force far in excess of what they could have handled with a bow. Moreover, crossbows could be kept cocked and ready to shoot for some time with little effort, allowing crossbowmen to aim with deadly accuracy.

Also Marco knew that he was in an urgent need of a stronger infantry to neutralize the Roman praetorian’s battlefield supremacy once and for all. Portugal now had an answer for this and that was the Portuguese maceman. Portuguese maceman is a heavy infantry unit who specialize in mace attacks. Macemen being heavy troops soon will make the bulk of King Marco’s armies.

Now that Marco felt that there wasn’t any army on the Portuguese continent able to match Portuguese military superiority and there was stability in the region, he decided to send with his Diplomat to Meeting the technology machinery which the Portuguese invented in order to build crossbows. He plan is to offer it for trade so other nations may have the same opportunity to upgrade their armies and secure their borders from foreign invasions in the coming future.

The exact price King Marco planned on asking wasn’t clear; some say that he ordered his diplomat to wait for interested parties to make an offer first. One think he asked his representative at Meeting was to accept for review all kinds of payments.

It was clear that the technology wouldn’t be sold cheaply, because of its considerable military benefits.

                          • Landfall

The Mayan sailing expedition has made landfall on an island just north of our mainland.

After encountering no inhabitants, or signs of prior stakeholds by another nation, we name this island Cozumel, and claim it in the name of the Mayans.

A Taoist missionary is on the island as we speak scouting for a proper city site.

Greetings to Mel Gibson, leader of the Mayan people,

I know the island you are talking about. We call it Esther's Island for centuries now, and intended to settle it.

I hope we can find some kind of compensation for your false hopes. You are welcome to make an offer.

                                First impressions of the city:

*Highly fertile and very rich in resources
*Never before have we come upon such a rich territory
*Strategically build on top of a hill
*Present are: Natives, Russians, Romans, Persians and an unknown to us civilization.
*Oh yes our Native friends tell us that this unknown people to us are the Spartans
*No contact has been established yet with the Spartans.
*First we need to settle our local office and thank the hosts for their hospitality.

                                End of Report.
