Beyond the Pit [Pitboss Diplomacy Game] [OOC Chat Thread]
At the risk of turning this into a WW2 thread; I don't really think Germany could have ultimately won that war the way it was. America was mass producing weapons towards the end of the war at an amazing rate, and Germany was losing their rail lines, and a lot of their factories. To defend that territory on all of those fronts over such a long period of time would have eventually resulted in their loss anyway. I mean the majority of Europe itself was obliterated by the end of the war anyway, so any "victory" Germany may have achieved would have been extremely miniscule anyway.
French military always sucked, especially land-forces. Even nowadays, the only really good piece of equipment France owns is the "Mirage" combat jet. The artlillery sucks, the tanks suck and the navy is just a ****ing shame. American and Russian submarines are faster then french torpedoes are. That's actually true. ^^
At the times of WWII, the french only had the Maginau defense-line that was on top of things : truely untakable, but obviously avoidable, since it was neither mobile, nor covering the entire french eastern border.
Germany lost the war because of the genocide obsession. For instance, because of using railroad for jew transports rather then for troop-supply. Having too many battlefronts at the same time contributed much to their defeat of course.
Yeah you're right, I just looked at my old college notes (I had a FANTASTIC political ideologies professor, he spoke Russian, Japanese, French, German and Spanish and he used to work for the CIA and worked with MacArthur in Japan) and actually what I had in my notes was at the start of World War One France had, what was considered the largest/strongest land force in Europe. So I was incorrect about that, although I did say I may have been mistaken. But that isn't why I am posting here.
I am posting here because of a comment I saw in the story-thread...
ok war is off this jsut stinks..
just when game had a chance of getting interesting.
Guys look for a Replacement for me. i will continue to play till a sub is found.
Now, I have no problem with people leaving the game. If they don't want to play they shouldn't have to. And I appreciate this player willing to stick it out until we find a replacement if that is what he really wants. But on this particular page of stories it is nothing but stories save two posts that are not story posts at all. Other than that it is a good looking page. Can we please keep our comments in the appropriate threads, I know I have been guilty of this but I am going to make an effort to keep the comments in the appropriate threads.
I would also like to point out that right now, everything is going fantastically. This is what a diplogame is about, there is nonstop politics and diplomacy going on, and I have found that I have to constantly empty and save my PM box. And I'm not even one of the people involved in this conflict! So I think we are finally getting this game going well, and I don't like the negativity that is being displayed by certain players... or player I guess in this sense.
I just have to say good show to everybody, it is very interesting and I hope that none of this is getting personal, it is not personal for me at all. I hope nobody else has taken anything personally.
it is clear to me that the game is not going to be fun for my civ to play. it needs someone with different thoughts. i have treid many things to keep the gam being fun for me, it obviously is for others.
but despite my efforts to get away from a builders game, it is simply that.
it may be becuasse it a pitboss game, but we realy have spent the last 3-4 months building merrily away, with nothing else.
The first chance we get to try and make it interesting the status qua is maintained and used to prevent any actions.,
i am sorry for this but i dont want to spend several more months perhaps over a yearjust building citys and farms and cottages and roads.
i dont have a civ big enoguh to do anything ele alone yes that is my fault i not got the ability to be a big civ like others.
now it appears that the quest for peace in the game now forces me to not move my troops anywhere. I really dont want to ruin the game by attacking the wyandots which i dont have the troop numbers for let alone my original quest to attack rome.
you will find someone who is willing to play a builders quest and they will post well too.
No more complaining from me, so capo will be happy.
but guys thanks for the oppurtunity to paly for the past few months.
i think it is time to face facts that i truly suck atthis game of civ and uninstall it from my machine.
When diplo became just a build build exercise i would always fail.
i dont spend the time or energy to study the manual to know enough about competetively buidling the correct sequence and stuff, i only jsut learnt in this game that i can change build queues without losing production,
I also get what your saying but It will sad not to have all those stories you like to write. And the worst part is you will not be around when I take your gateway city and advance north and take the other cities i had my eye on.

A political marriage which unites the kingdoms might be fun. Should be possible I would have thought - or at worst there might need to be a renegade city left. It would bring some new spice to the game. OK maybe those nations who are close might not think so - its not for me to judge - but it might be easier than trying to find a new player.
