If Raz leaves we can not just give his land away or allow people to conquer them. His country is roughly twice the size of mine and to just give that away to people simply because they are close in proximity isn't very fair, or realistic really. We should try and get a replacement. I don't know that he is actually going to leave anyway, isn't this the third or fourth time he's threatened to leave the game?

Yes sad to see Raz threatening to leave us again.
I have no idea why he is unhappy, his nations is pretty large and more powerful than many of the civs in the game.
He just needs to enjoy the game. Seems he takes things too personal.
True diplo players should enjoy the game.
Japan, Korea and the smaller nations of the other continent seem to have much fun to you guys!!!

I'm getting a little upset that diplogames, and I hate to sound like Ras, are "changing" into completely scripted games where people basically approve of doing anything so long as there is "an explanation," which is more accurately stated as "any explanation."
I'm sure this is not a position most people agree with, but I just wanted to throw it out there because I think its partially related to Ras "leaving." Because I noticed he was part of the "start up a war" to make things interesting group.
Now, don't get me wrong, this is coming from the guy who thinks razing cities is fine (and once advocated it against an enemy) in a diplogame. In fact, I even think taking and razing a capital is fine in a diplogame. But what I don't like is "manufactured" wars. Now by that I mean out-of-game manufactured wars. Namely wars like Japan's war. A war that is plotted to occur, and is done using diplomacy is fine with me, in fact if you manage to convince two other countries to fight a war you aren't involved in you get my diplomacy vote, and possibly my military vote. But what I'm noticing is a trend towards starting wars for the sake of starting wars. Which I guess is okay, but I think its getting to a point where its leading to attitudes like "the war has stopped, this is lame, I'm quitting."
I guess the reason this bothers me is because of comments similar to "I dont' care, I just want a war" or "why are you trying to stop this war? Its getting good," and to me this conflicts with the diplomacy aspect of the game. I don't think diplomacy should be frowned upon simply for the sake of it, if there is an interest for the country/leader of the country to continue a war that's fine, and they should use diplomatic means to encourage the war. But when the means become OOC means, such as "this is interesting so you shouldn't interfere" or something of that nature I think we begin to lose a major part of the diplomacy aspect of the diplogame. I'm kind of just thinking aloud right now, but its just something I've noticed, and I was wondering what other players' thoughts were.

Considering I was the one who asked the Khmer not to build the university, I'm pretty peeved. I am convinced that the Incans don't even read these forums, and aren't just failing to post.Ceeforee v0.1 - The Unofficial Civ 4 Editor -= Something no Civ Modder should ever be without =- Last Updated: 27/03/2009

I say gather up some units and pay them a visit - a renegade state indeed.
I bet if you go to war with the Inca they won't follow the rules either. this is BS something needs to be done!!!!!

So they host another game and ignor this one?
This is what i send them:
Hey if you have some free time on your hands, please visit Beyond the Pit forum and post a short story about the Inca. People there will be grateful.
Inca's Reply:
I did some story telling early on. Frankly, you guys have kinda worn me down. I never expected to have to read two chapters of a novel every day.
I leave to you the conclusions.

My conclusion:
I was right all along and we should have split both the vote and story threads to old and new world. (making the amount of story one *has* to read about equal to that in previous games)
By the time (now) when reading stories from across the globe is more important the players would all be hooked.Modern man calls walking more quickly in the same direction down the same road “change.”
The world, in the last three hundred years, has not changed except in that sense.
The simple suggestion of a true change scandalizes and terrifies modern man. -Nicolás Gómez Dávila

I don't think this necessarily has anything to do with seperated threads. Japan is right, you don't necessarily have to read other people's posts (although you should really for voting purposes). If we separated the threads that would be okay I guess, but when there is overlap we'd just have to combine them again anyway so its kinda irrelevant really. I think ultimately less players is the only way to effect the posts.
Although there are those of us who actually like all of the stories, but to each his own I guess.
