Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
I'm not telling you that it won't work, I'm just saying you should develop it more. From where I'm standing it sounds really complicated, and I still have the spy thing to work out and I was talking to MMC about making the UN more important (since he's been looking into the UN stuff) for Diplogames. If you want to pursue this go ahead, nobody is stopping you. I'm just saying the group has to agree because we're making this mod to use in Diplogames.
Actually, how about the way Civ3 does things? You require an embassy to open advanced diplomatic talks... Basic stuff like resource, gold, and map trades, and maybe open borders, could happen freely, but advanced stuff like defensive pacts and tech trading would need the embassy.
That might please Raz without over complicating things.

"Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean there's no conspiracy"
i think spend the time and money to build an embassy upon initial meeting or no trades allwoed at all.
that would allow for the time to learn the new langauge.
in Diplo game we would have a gentlemean agreement that till you built an embassy you cant communicate with the other civ in any form PMs orEmaqil as you cant communicate with them.
However you could send PMs to anyone you have an embassy with that also has embassy with another nation nd they pass on the info .. Just a tohguht.
hummm... if you can't communicate without an embassy... how do you arrange to build the embassy?
That's why I suggested we only limit the big stuff.

In Rhye's and Fall of Mankind, which is the closest you're going to get to this idea, you can build an EMBASSY but that simply keeps you in contact with a civilization you don't send a unit to or share a border with. (otherwise you lose contact over time, which I would say is MORE realistic than what you are suggesting)
Hey put this into the Diplo Mod! Its realistic and fun!
It would mean there would be a reason for players keeping units in the other nation's capital.
I dissagre with the agreement Vikings propose though since to keep contatct with a distant civ you would need to either have a unit stationed there (and anyone living there for a few centuries might pick up the language in any case ) or an embassy (again same logic).

Modern man calls walking more quickly in the same direction down the same road “change.”
The world, in the last three hundred years, has not changed except in that sense.

I think there is a better UN mod that opens up all the civics for UN resolutions we should incorporate that too.

The only issue with this is that I have no idea how to put this in. Rhye is a genius when it comes to this stuff, he just put out Rhye's Random which is the same as Rise and Fall except it isn't on Earth map. I don't know how to control the contact issue, but again, if people want to help out and look it up I'll put it in so long as the group agrees on it. I still have to put in the SuperSpy Promotions too, and we haven't got the Inquisitor the exact way we need it yet either. But nobody has responded yet to my notes on the Inquisitor test, so I'll write them out again;
-The game loaded properly, so there are no bugs.
-The Inquisitor is an invisible unit in this mod, should I change this or does it matter?
-You can build the Inquisitor under Paganism, Organized Religion and Theocracy. Should I change this or does it matter?
-There only requirement to build an Inquisitor is that you have discovered Theology. Other than that there are no prerequisits, not buildings, not great prophets, nothing. Should I change this?
-There is a minior text error that occurs. A text reports to the owner of a Holy City when their religion has been purged from a certain city. While it told me that "Christianity has been purged in Beijing" it was wrong. I had actually purged all of the OTHER religions from Beijing (a foreign city). That is a pretty minor issue and doesn't effect gameplay. I'll figure this one out later.
-You can use your Inquisitor on any vassal city so long as your state religion is present, even if the vassal doesn't follow your state religion.
-You can not build Inquisitors under Pacifism or Free Religion.
And we haven't discussed the SuperSpy mod either. So I'd like some feedback or at least the okay to put it in.
Ehh, sorry that just looks wierd. The US flag is a very modern flag in its design, it just dosen't fit with medeival units. The same goes for the patterns on the shields.

umm thats because america didnt exist in medievel times.
So many civs in the game were not aorund when certain units become available. it is just the way it is.
We cant wait till 1700s for America to join game.
Apart from Egypt and some of the other Mid east civs none of them were around in 4000BC
The civ i playing the vikings only came to be about 800AD i think.
Yeah but stone age/ancient age European units don't look strange because we had a stone/ancient age.
America should not have UU graphics in the ancient/medieval era, they should get standard European graphics since they are basically a European civ, by Civilization standards.
