“The greatest happiness is to vanquish your enemies, to chase them before you, to rob them of their wealth, to see those dear to them bathed in tears, to clasp to your bosom their wives and daughters.” -Genghis Khan (allegedly)
Modern man calls walking more quickly in the same direction down the same road “change.”
The world, in the last three hundred years, has not changed except in that sense.
The simple suggestion of a true change scandalizes and terrifies modern man. -Nicolás Gómez Dávila

No worries, it helped promote the troops of Holland very effectively, thanks!
BTW is there a simple way of counting up your unit losses? I don't seem to have lost much Watch out America!

Mali gifted a tech to me (forget which one) to complete our deal for Bacracu, which I ended up taking back over anyway since it was left defenceless for hundreds of years. Hence, I gifted machinery.
90% sure the above is correct. Remember to declair your tech trades people!
I have 5 tech trades left btw.

Nols said she made two trades in total, this makes it 5 for France.
BTW I'm going to do some testing this weekend. I've tried too many things to realy have much hope, but on the off chance it works perfectly, I would like to try to join the diplo game once (or twice) this sunday. If it dosen't work you won't loose more than 20 min or so, since Nols is preped to play this session as well.
If its possible we could try to start 15 min early, that way you would not loose any time if it won't work.
Now if I may suggest something, perhaps Cyber should send mails after every session to remind people to vote.
Edit: There was some miscommunication with Nols.

Hey guys, this is pretty tough to say and I hate to say it.
I don't think I'm providing the proper amount of attention to this game. I want to preface my next statements by saying I love diplogaming, I think about it most of the day and often think of new ideas for stories or diplomatic arrangements, and by often I mean very often.
But I just don't seem to have the appropriate amount of time available to really play this game correctly. I know it sounds awful, and I know there have been some times where I have been a nuisance to some people, and I truly regret that. But this decision has nothing to do with that.
Those who know who I am and have played with me in the past know that I try to pour all of my energies into diplogames, and those of you who have been in alliances and diplomatic arrangements with me in prior games know how much time, effort and thought I put into these things, so I hope at least you understand that this isn't a decision I am making lightly.
I don't think I'm doing my tribe or this game justice. And that is my main point. I think there are others out there, right now, who can provide not only better leadership (I haven't played civ in almost two years, so I'm quite rusty) but could also represent his tribe better than am able to at this time.
I finally got a little bit of free time in my life and I thought I could dedicate it to a game I love with guys I truly enjoy playing with. But that has been changing quickly, and much to my displeasure.
I tried hard guys, I really did. I was literally falling asleep during sessions, I could hardly think things through sometimes and made really dumb mistakes very often (for instance a let a barbarian waltz right into my territory and it destroyed my bronze mine, and I was completely aware that it was there the ENTIRE TIME it was coming in and never thought to kill it).
I guess my point is that I'm not pulling my weight and I think someone else would do much better than I could right now. That said I don't want to screw this game over, and I have thought ahead about what kind of storylines would be cool for the Americans to have (the Frederick Douglass Presidency was something I was looking forward to greatly) and maybe a few ideas to offer to whoever takes over. If WE can't find anyone I could play this week, but honestly I am not going to have the time I thought I would have for the near forseeable future.
So what I'm saying is that I am not playing to my top level in this game at all, and it would really be better if someone else played in my stead.
So if anyone besides us reads this, please volunteer if you can...
It's not all about the game play anyway. We love the American stories and you are in a good war right now - go for it. Beautiful for your IC style.
Please play on. The organics between the existing players in this game is almost perfect - a brilliant balance of development, religions, war mongering, exploration etc!!!
It's a tough slot if you are in the American timezone but this was discussed. Cyber has played in this slot for years in other HOTW games.
I think it's VERY important that America sees this through assuming you are in your house and can access your computer (ie you haven't gone anywhere so it's crazy to not be able to stay up late Saturday night!!)
But this is a personal choice and all I'm saying is that I really enjoy playing with you and will be very sad if you don't continue
