I am at this stage a little uncertain on my schedule today, this uncertainty will apply most likely to brief periods in the afternoon, with a possibility of a later start and also 1 or 2 brief absences from the game, most likely of about 10 mins.
A very interesting session today, most civs making progress. The session began with frank taking 2 cities from marcus and handing 1 back in a peace treaty, quickly followed by frank stealing a city from Alex and then making peace, avoiding a possible war with myself who was willing to back up Alex to maintain a buffer between frank and trev, necessary against such an aggresive player.
This was followed by a series of wars between Alex and Marcus, with both initiating the offensive at various times, possibly a total of 6 such wars followed by peace has now occurred.
The session was for me a period of consolidation which has seen 3 wonders completed, including the Taj Mahal on the last turn of the session. My GDP is still running 4th well below the leaders, but using the philo trait, combined with pacifism and representation and numbers of specialists I have maintained a rough parity in technology, reaching education and liberalism first, bit being behind in religious and naval technologies and some economic techs. A desire to maintain an approximate parity in military strength has seen the costs rise till where the military is costing me about 50 gold, leaving me with a GDP of about 95 gold. After the completion of the golden age I think a change of civics will be in order to reduce this cost, not yet sure what I will change to.
Anyway it was an intriguing session and I am sure the next session will be the same, particularly as 3 civs are now settling the new world, leaving me and marcus and alex behind.
I'm not in the NW either, but I have lots of islands and a landmass to my north which I settled eons ago - all accessable with galley. Got one barb city there. Might give the NEW world a miss, UNLIKE me!
With the philo trait and the fast epic speed I've got GP's coming out my ears but can't seem to get any Wonders - no marble or stone. Only got the Great Lighthouse. I'd really love marathon in the next game pls, now that we've consolidated a reliable group.
Not sure the philo trait is for me. My instinct is to take Inca for Ind/Fin but I try not to be as boring as Frank.. well dang me...

Hi guys. OK first the bad news. I have family/holiday events the next two Sundays in a row. Now the good news is that both are at 3pm (my time) so, if you are interested, I would be happy to start a game at around 9-10am and play through to 1 or 2pm (Central time)-after that I will really have to go though. So what do you say, shall I pen it into my diary?
