  • I think it's a new vile-less game today?

The Vile game recommences in about 4 weeks I think.

    • I think that maybe i was a bit too harsh there last night. Sorry deity, you are right to do what is necessary for your civ. And frank = . Me show frank

      • Yeah, I think if we are gonna have any hard and fast rules for these games, it is simply that: "what happens in the game STAYS in the game." No OOC threats and nastiness of anykind. As 1 civ to another you can be as nasty and threatening as you like . Personally, I save all of my rage for the F***ING barbarians and the cheating computer behind them .

        • Yeah, no worries Toni. But I'm glad you posted that. Thanks. Me feel a bit better. I did take it to heart

I think a guide to go by is that some of us are warmongers (read Frank and Vile AND Marcus!) and some are more peaceful (Toni, deity, Alex & Trev).

          However, it's only a guide.

All of us can be warrers some of the time. Personally, war for me is a last resort and I know it is for you too

I think we should all expect war at any time regardless of who is the neighbour. This is good for the game and is less predictable...

          • Hey, I am only ever a reluctant warmonger Deity. Squeeze me into a tight space and I will fight back . Usually I have enough on my hands holding back the hordes of barbarians (especially as I usually lack any decent resources!)

            • Well all I can do is say, please please please please be more than a warm body blocking my path while someone else runs away with the game. For example in this game I caught some flak for choosing my usual civ and play style (Inca) and because of that Toni ended up with the only Industrial civ and managed to pull off a pretty much game sealing CS slingshot. I was too far away to realistically confront Toni militarily so the game was kind of a wash at that point.

I'm not necessiarily going to start a war in every game. I agree with deity though, everyone should be prepared at the very least to defend themselves well. If someone is running away with the game in a builder since you should be formulating how you can correct this in a military way, even if its just forcing your opponenent to divert some of his or her resources to military than you've done your job.

Maybe you guys haven't noticed but there are time when I just overtly comment about the weakness of a civ's military rather than attack them. My goal is just to keep everyone honest and the game interesting. Our last few have been thanks to some of the efforts of our beloved warmongers who at times take up the military gambit to correct the balance of the game.

              • hey hey i was defended well, just hated the idea being attacked by two civs at the same time. I can take on one but two becomes a bit much.

                  • Sunday should ok, tomorrow I am working, possibly a long shift, so afternoon availability is unlikely.

                    • An interesting new game today with Alex included as well as all of last Sunday's players. Toni has once again gone industrious and snared a number of wonders, also I have managed to drag enough hammers from my cap for its share of wonders also. Frank as the industrious and aggressive incas has also built some wonders, lack of contact with other players leaves me unaware of their efforts although Marcus was excited about building at least 1 wonder.
It has been noticed that Frank has been developing his military and also made threatening noises to his neighbours, this could make the next sessioin interesting as other civs are extending their military power also if the power graphs can be believed.
Frank did claim that he built his civ on ice, but his progress in this game suggests he found very good terrain not far away from his starting position, as he has a GDP significantly higher than other players. Although I am locked away in 1 corner with tundra and ice below me I have found terrain that has been good for hammers, but not so great for money, so my production is the highest, but GDP is below par, hopefully the ability to build improvements quickly will balance out the poor GDP.

                      • Yes, very interesting game indeed. The longest I have been in front so far-definite sign that I am improving . I got off to a great start-IMO-by building Stonehenge, a very important Wonder for the Egyptians with their UB. I also decided to nip my barbarian problems in the bud by building the Great Wall. This allowed me to go on the offensive against the Barbarian States. Unfortunately, all my expansion possibilities have been largely shut off to the South and South-East by Frank and Alex. I hope to 'out-culture' the city of Bangalore, and capture that nice gold deposit between Elephantine and Bangalore. A brief but bloody war, started by yours truly, was fought over the key city of Bangalore, but I decided to cut my losses and accept a cease-fire agreement from Alex, especially as Frank is well and truly on the war-path with a massive army. He clearly managed to overcome his earlier bad start by acquiring good land further north-very close to my own borders. I am hoping to appeal to his notions of religious brotherhood-as a fellow Hindu-and turn his aggressions towards one of the Heathen civilizations. In fact, I would not be against a Crusade-with our Incan Brothers-against the vile infidel who currently infest the Continent . Anyway, fun game but I really need to get closer to the lead again .

                        • Indeed a very interesting game was started yesterday. I look forward for continuing it on sunday. Also Trev and Marcus love your short posts, aways interesting to read them.

                          • Indeed I have managed my city placements well, although two of my five cities are built entirely within the tundra field. I've also more or less been sealed in by the Egyptians and the Indians. The problem was worse however India lost a city to barbarians apparently and my fledling 5th city now rests near the ruins of the old Indian city. Still, with no plentiful sources to expand into, and cities that are doing well but will ultimately be limited in growth by the tundra surrounding them I am having to consider my military options.

Both Egypt and India have made sensible motions toward me and I feel like a deal can be worked out to allow co-existance of all 3 states, but allies which choke the expansion of the Incan Empire are not desireable. There will be a price for our cooperation.

Should hostilities break out, I will declare war on both of the opressive border states, just to be fair. It will be glorious.

                            • Hi guys. I'm afraid you are all gonna hate me. 2 Sundays in a row I have family events-a birthday on the 3rd and a naming day on the 10th of December. So I am afraid that a game is out of the question on both weeks. My sincere apologies.
