    • Uhh, 6-7 turns a week vs. 50-70 turns a week seems like a pretty clear difference to me.

      • Erm... PitBoss would make it 6-7 turns/week PLUS 50-70 turns/week.

        • I didn't post those stats to complain that we weren't going fast enough, I was just posting these stats for the fun of it 8)
          I think we're doing pretty good!

          I don't like the idea of not playing all at the same time. When I finish a wonder I want response from the fellow players 8)

          • PitBoss doesn't prevent you from having sessions of 50-70 turns each week... It just means that you can have a couple of turns more outside of the main sessions, which is great for keeping those "One More Turn" cravings at bay.

              cause thats usually what is said when someone finishes a wonder.

              VERY IMPORTANT
              everyone has to activate their logs. very rarely do as many players as we play in civ games so we are in a unique position to report problems so they can be corrected. if you go to your my documents\my games\warlords folder and find the file named civilizationIV.ini, open it (in notepad) then scroll to the bottom. counting from the bottom, the 6th paragraph should say:

              ; Enable the logging system
              LoggingEnabled = 0

              Change the 0 to a 1. make sure you dont hit space or move around anything. just replace the 0 with a 1. then save the file. you now have logging enabled. now there should be created a Logs folder in your warlords folder that will create detailed logs of all game-networking activities. Nolan can explain in further detail what to do with them. If we want to improve the situation with 50% technical problems and 50% playing then it is important that we do this.

                Believe me, hearing your reaction to my finishing the Great Library last game was most of the benfit I got from it.

                      • Pit Boss does work, and it wouldn't suck to use it. As a current PitBoss host, I take offense to that remark.

                        How often would a wonder, or anything be completed within 6 or 7 turn window, when most of the turns are played during the live sessions, especially in marathon speed? Besides, even if you want to get someone's reaction to your building a wonder, or anything else, they can post it here.

                        Go ahead, I defy you to name something else wrong with PitBoss without even having tried it. Just because what you all have done in the past always worked, doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement.

                        • Pitboss works perfectly but I don't like to use it because I think the diplogame works best when all players are playing at the same time.

                          Is Pitboss going to be Session 2's great debate, after we had the 'no maps before writing' debate after Session 1? I wonder what Session 3 will give us

                          • the debate will probably be; shall we throw ozzy into the ocean for being such a wonder-whore... er... that came out wrong. i meant whore for wonders, not... anyway...

                            I assume since noone has said anything about the VERY IMPORTANT! ACTIVATE LOGGING post I posted above all of you have already activated the logging function and considered that message superficial and thus ignored it. If this is not the case... GGGRRRRR!!!

                            If we want to get rid of the damned connectivity problems we should be willing to do a little work for it. Now I happen to feel that firaxis should have done that work before they released the damned thing, but as it is, we happen to be using this game for a somewhat unorthodox game form with an unusually large number of players. despite that we are a clear minority in the vastness of civplayers, we still have far more influence than the average player since Nolan, and some others here, have a foot inside with firaxis. If you activate your logs and we create a routine for naming problems and issues that show up during the connection phase, the problems can be sorted out and solved. Now maybe some of you enjoy 1 hour of technical difficulties for every hour of playing time, but I dont. Lets help ourselves out by helping them out.

                              • right. sub needed for the sub. I'll ask my flatmates again. of course they are an irregular bunch, so asking them to do something 5 days from now will not work. I will have to ask at starting time. and as experienced previously, fransiski gets tired after half the session and usually calls it a night, so. long story short. my flatmates are backup subs. lastminute emergency, shorttime, temporary subs. we need some more proper standby subs... Thrak, if you can find someone that would be great. otherwise we should pool together a list of subs that could kick in on long and short notice.
