Personally I think it is best to stick with the in-the-box civs & leaders for this game. Next game lets use all sorts of mods & new civs and such.

I'd like to have a custom diplogame on a Europe map. We used to have those often in Civ2 and they were a lot of fun. Toni could be Bulgaria, I could be Hungary, Cyber could be the Dutch, etc. It'd be good.

With just a few days to go till we start it is too much of a pain in the ass to start playing with mods. And hell if we are going to just pick our traits, then I can think of lots of better combinations that Saladin's.

And I think we can't accept new players either. It's too short before the game starts. We gone through so much the past weeks we can't let any wildcards enter the game anymore imho.

If you want another civ than Persia go ahead, but choose one that hasnt been taken already. That was sort of a guideline for civ choices, we decided not to have any doubles.

but lets focus on this game. is there really any need to change to Bulgaria, Toni? Really? A need? What's wrong with Persia? Fascinating country, great history, decent traits, cool UU, cool UB. who is it you want instead?

@Toni: LzPrst is not joking, he just means: is there a reason for your position in the game (ie. your tactics) to change to another civ?

no, what I mean is: Does it really matter if your civ is called Persia or Bulgaria? Why do you want to change civs/traits right before we start? Why was Persia good enough for 7 weeks, but not now? That's all. I can understand that you want to play your home country, but right now it is rocking the boat a little and everyone is nervous as it is.

As Ozzy and I stated, if you want another civ that hasn't been chosen already, you can swap, just tell us here first. And if you want to change the names from whichever new civ you choose to Bulgaria go ahead, just make sure you get everything right so that there isnt any confusion. That's all I want, to ensure that there is no confusion right before we start. Which is why I am asking if it is necessary, because it may lead to some confusion and if it isnt really necessary then not doing anything about it gives us one less thing to think about.

Yea still a bit unsure on what civ to pick, I’m divided between Persia and the Mali, and having the Mali not taken I hope it will be ok if I decide to go with them. U see my problem is strategy wise; I’m trying to see which of both civs will help me achieve my goals. I will make a decision in the next 24 hrs and let u know what’s my final choose guys. Hope things now are less confusing.

I vote for no clones of Civs. If clones are allowed, I would like to change my civ choice, and I think some others may reconsider their choices too.

I vote to start the following week on the 7th. MMC can't start then, but there are two or three players who can't start on the 1st. He's going to miss that week whether we start on the 1st or the 7th, but we can wait for the others. Btw, I may be incomminicado as Hurricane Ernesto hits my South Florida home. It is also remotely possible that I won't have electricity through the 1st. Therefore, I won't even be able to tell you if I can be there unless I can be there.

I have checked my PMs and recieved the PM from cyber. The instructions were to ignore it, so I did.

Sorry MMC and other Brits, but I call England as my civ in the euro diplogame. I know you understand why I love this wonderful country!
