  • Fully agree with you deity, and lets start plz trying to pick a start date. People who are missing should post in the next couple of days to confirm or something. Waiting for them to show up may delay the game forever and we will loss the momentum.

      • OmnipotentTrout and The Capo can't react because they're either moving to a new house or on vacation. Why wouldn't we wait for them? I hate it if AI's play the first (couple of) turn(s).

        • PitBoss does work with Warlords, but it's a little tempremental when it comes to starting a new game. Once its running, it works fine.

          • It's already the 20th, maybe we can start on the 25th at the agreed time.

            It's not like the AI will have many opportunities to screw the game up in the first few turns. It's my opinion that we just get the ball rolling before it's too late.

              I'll use it for something useful...

              civil is out due to his schedule? that means we're down to 13 players. If we wait for omni (which we are doing anyway as we are waiting for capo), we might ask him to join us putting us back at 14.

              I'm all for 14 players. its a good number and good for a huge map.

              also, regarding the whole low sea level complaint that is written below, terra maps are extra large. low sea level isnt needed.

              • think we have to wait for capo. 10th of september.

                also, I am still sceptical to pitboss. have the game running 24/7? playing turns in the middle of the week. I dont have time for that as I suspect it will develop into a "come on, play your turn" -whining from those who want to play a lot.

                also. why the hell low sea level? we should go for normal. no reason for low sea level. I like boats! normal is the standard. low sea level favours certain playstyles and civs. I say we use standard configurations. just a huge terra map will do fine.

                • Let's make one final confirmation thread for all those who can play on the allotted time schedule. You say we cant play with more than 12. who is the poor sod who gets excluded? We are 13 after civil's schedule dropped him out. or did I miss some other resignation?

                  • I'll host the pitboss server. I'll simply take it offline during weekdays. I think pitboss may solve our problem that Deity has to be the first to join the game but hasn't the best computer.

                    Since I have a pretty good computer I can host the game (pitboss) and Deity can join first.

                    The first session(s) are very important, you found your first cities, you explore, you chose a tech-direction. Besides that, I hate it if early techs are founded by an AI (like in HOTW5). That's a very good bonus for a player who can't make it the first session.

                      • I agree with you CuberShy about waiting for OmnipotentTrout and Capo, but when will they be back?? And come on we leave in the 21st century everyone has access to a pc somewhere close to where they live or will live, so at least it would have been nice if they dropped us a word or two to let as know what’s up. Ozzy did just that, so they should too.

                            Actually, we can play with up to 18 (or is it 24 with Warlords?), but Firaxis will only support up to 12, so if sometime goes drasticaly wrong with a 14 player game, perhaps causing the host to require re-installation, then Firaxis is well within their rights to say 'we told you so'.

                            Also, My in-game name will probably be 'MooManof_' as opposed to 'MMC'.

                            • really? can't we change names for each session with pitboss?

                              In HOTW5 we used the names of our nation's leaders which changed after a few sessions, change it in the direct IP slot. I hope we can continue with that for HOTW7 cause it adds a little extra feel to it and reminds you who or what you're dealing with. for example when a nation is under the leadership of say.... Cardinal Richelieu, then expect the unexpected, but if the leader name is de Gaulle, you can pretty much expect something nationalistic. of course the actual leader with his traits will remain the same, but the ingame name changes for RP reasons.

                              my first leader will probably be Odin. (and I have a pretty amusing story in mind also )

                              also, so what if firaxis only supports for 12. I say we go for 13-14 and make the best out of it. if something goes wrong we can check around the forums here and at civfanatics and even nag firaxis for a possible solution. they might not be obliged to work one out, but at least they'll know there is a problem.
