Again, we should reopen the HOTW VII discussion ASAP. I have a feeling HOTW V is not going to be going on for much longer

As far as I can recall, HOTW2 ended with a giant war where most of the world was conquered and reconquered and then it ended with us all just yelling at each other because of it.

                    Sorta like HOTW4 ended....

So.... yea I definitely think a better solution is needed for the end game.

Exactly, and they should see how we handled it so we don't waste time repeating ourselves.

Large IIRC. we were 10 players to start with, I think we beefed it up to large. feels large. check back in the ancient thread

and as mentioned before, the SS race will inevitably end in war. thats why I think the SS win should just award some points that are then added to the total score that is counted by us, using a system like what ozzy posted. It is also IMO a way of rewarding all players for their great efforts, not just what happens to be the winning team. it will allow for a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place victory which dont have to be in the same alliance.

consider the time victory. the winner with the most score counted, shown to all, wins. maybe resulting in a last-dash war to reduce the top dog. unsatisfying.

Spacerace, you get a SS to AC. so? does that make you the dominant civ immediately? does it make you "better" than the others. it merely gives a (huge) prestige boost. which could be represented with a score, not a complete victory.

is it right to give the 2nd place to say Dragon (if he was still in the game) just for throwing himself in with the leader and giving him some extra production? the space race only rewards the endgame efforts. I think a diplovictory should be awarded to the person deserving it from the entire game's development, not just the end.

You guys all sound like my mother.
When me and my sisters had a contest (ie. a drawing contest) and we asked her to judge then she didn't want to appoint a winner, and we all got points and we all were losers in the end.

                                We've had a great game, that's a reward.
There must be a winner. Let there be a large war, who cares? The person who can survive in that war long enough and launch his spaceship clearly is the best.

Oh well, I'll go with you since apparantly you're all a bunch of *****-mothers :P:P:P
We'll all be the winners 8)

                                India: cultural winner
                                Russia: religious winner
                                America: conquest winner
                                England: colonizing winner
                                Inca: seafaring winner
                                China: military winner
                                Germany: city loser winner
Spain: story telling (book writing) winner
                                France: best loser
                                Mongolia: best AI

                                All congratulations
I'm more for a "The winner takes it all approach". Losing is a part of the game, that's what makes it interesting. That's what makes the game tense. If it doesn't matter that much if China launches it's spaceship before me, why would I care? If everything is worth some points then factually nothing is worth any points.

                                But I'll go with the flow, I'll be a ***** too 8)
