  • The Condemnation and Excommunication of Martin Luther, the Heretic, and his Followers, December 1341.

Through the power given him from God, the Russian Pontiff has been appointed to administer spiritual and temporal punishments as each case severally deserves. The purpose of this is the repression of the wicked designs of misguided men, who have been so captivated by the debased impulse of their evil purposes as to forget the fear of the Lord, to set aside with contempt canonical decrees and apostolic commandments, and to dare to formulate new and false dogmas and to introduce the evil of schism into the Church of God--or to support, help and adhere to such schismatics, who make it their business to cleave asunder the seamless robe of our Redeemer and the unity of the orthodox faith. Hence it befits the Pontiff, lest the vessel of Peter appear to sail without pilot or oarsman, to take severe measures against such men and their followers, and by multiplying punitive measures and by other suitable remedies to see to it that these same overbearing men, devoted as they are to purposes of evil, along with their adherents, should not deceive the multitude of the simple by their lies and their deceitful devices, nor drag them along to share their own error and ruination, contaminating them with what amounts to a contagious disease. It also befits the Pontiff, having condemned the schismatics, to ensure their still greater confounding by publicly showing and openly declaring to all faithful Christians how formidable are the censures and punishments to which such guilt can lead; to the end that by such public declaration they themselves may return, in confusion and remorse, to their true selves, making an unqualified withdrawal from the prohibited conversation, fellowship and (above all) obedience to such accursed excommunicates; by this means they may escape divine vengeance and any degree of participation in their damnation.

We have been informed that after this previous missive had been exhibited in public and the interval or intervals it prescribed had elapsed (60 days) -- and we hereby give solemn notice to all faithful Christians that these intervals have and are elapsed -- many of those who had followed the errors of Martin took cognisance of our missive and its warnings and injunctions; the spirit of a saner counsel brought them back to themselves, they confessed their errors and abjured the heresy at our instance, and by returning to the true Catholic faith obtained the blessing of absolution with which the self-same messengers had been empowered; and in several states and localities of the said Germany the books and writings of the said Martin were publicly burned, as we had enjoined.

Nevertheless Martin himself -- and it gives us grievous sorrow and perplexity to say this -- the slave of a depraved mind, has scorned to revoke his errors within the prescribed interval and to send us word of such revocation, or to come to us himself; nay, like a stone of stumbling, he has feared not to write and preach worse things than before against us and this Holy See and the Catholic faith, and to lead others on to do the same.
He has now been declared a heretic; and so also others, whatever their authority and rank, who have cared nought of their own salvation but publicly and in all men's eyes become followers of Martin's pernicious and heretical sect, and given him openly and publicly their help, counsel and favour, encouraging him in their midst in his disobedience and obstinacy, or hindering the publication of our said missive: such men have incurred the punishments set out in that missive, and are to be treated rightfully as heretics and avoided by all faithful Christians, as the Apostle says (Titus iii. 10-11).

Our purpose is that such men should rightfully be ranked with Martin and other accursed heretics and excommunicates, and that even as they have ranged themselves with the obstinacy in sinning of the said Martin, they shall likewise share his punishments and his name, by bearing with them everywhere the title "Lutheran" and the punishments it incurs.

Our previous instructions were so clear and so effectively publicised and we shall adhere so strictly to our present decrees and declarations, that they will lack no proof, warning or citation.

Our decrees which follow are passed against Martin and others who follow him in the obstinacy of his depraved and damnable purpose, as also against those who defend and protect him with a military bodyguard, and do not fear to support him with their own resources or in any other way, and have and do presume to offer and afford help, counsel and favour toward him. All their names, surnames and rank -- however lofty and dazzling their dignity may be -- we wish to be taken as included in these decrees with the same effect as if they were individually listed and could be so listed in their publication, which must be furthered with an energy to match their contents.
On all these we decree the sentences of excommunication, of anathema, of our perpetual condemnation and interdict; of privation of dignities, honours and property on them and their descendants, and of declared unfitness for such possessions; of the confiscation of their goods and of the crime of treason; and these and the other sentences, censures and punishments which are inflicted by canon law on heretics and are set out in our aforesaid missive, we decree to have fallen on all these men to their damnation.

We add to our present declaration, by our Apostolic authority, that states, territories, camps, towns and places in which these men have temporarily lived or chanced to visit, along with their possessions -- cities which house cathedrals and metropolitans, monasteries and other religious and sacred places, privileged or unprivileged -- one and all are placed under our ecclesiastical interdict, while this interdict lasts, no pretext of Apostolic Indulgence (except in cases the law allows, and even there, as it were, with the doors shut and those under excommunication and interdict excluded) shall avail to allow the celebration of mass and the other divine offices. We prescribe and enjoin that the men in question are everywhere to be denounced publicly as excommunicated, accursed, condemned, interdicted, deprived of possessions and incapable of owning them. They are to be strictly shunned by all faithful Christians.

We would make known to all the small store that Martin, his followers and the other rebels have set on God and his Church by their obstinate and shameless temerity. We would protect the herd from one infectious animal, lest its infection spread to the healthy ones. Hence we lay the following injunction on each and every patriarch, archbishop, bishop, on the prelates of patriarchal, metropolitan, cathedral and collegiate churches, and on the religious of every Order -- even the mendicants -- privileged or unprivileged, wherever they may be stationed: that in the strength of their vow of obedience and on pain of the sentence of excommunication, they shall, if so required in the execution of these presents, publicly announce and cause to be announced by others in their churches, that this same Martin and the rest are excommunicate, accursed, condemned, heretics, hardened, interdicted, deprived of possessions and incapable of owning them, and so listed in the enforcement of these presents. Three days will be given: we pronounce canonical warning and allow one day's notice on the first, another on the second, but on the third peremptory and final execution of our order. This shall take place on a Sunday or some other festival, when a large congregation assembles for worship. The banner of the cross shall be raised, the bells rung, the candles lit and after a time extinguished, cast on the ground and trampled under foot, and the stones shall be cast forth three times, and the other ceremonies observed which are usual in such cases. The faithful Christians, one and all, shall be enjoined strictly to shun these men.

We would occasion still greater confounding on the said Martin and the other heretics we have mentioned, and on their adherents, followers and partisans: hence, on the strength of their vow of obedience we enjoin each and every patriarch, archbishop and all other prelates, that even as they were appointed on the authority of Jerome to allay schisms, so now in the present crisis, as their office obliges them, they shall make themselves a wall of defence for their Christian people. They shall not keep silence like dumb dogs that cannot bark, but incessantly cry and lift up their voice, preaching and causing to be preached the word of God and the truth of the Catholic faith against the damnable articles and heretics aforesaid.

To each and every rector of the parish churches, to the rectors of all the Orders, even the mendicants, privileged or unprivileged, we enjoin in the same terms, on the strength of their vow of obedience, that appointed by the Lord as they are to be like clouds, they shall sprinkle spiritual showers on the people of God, and have no fear in giving the widest publicity to the condemnation of the aforesaid articles, as their office obliges them. It is written that perfect love casteth out fear. Let each and every one of you take up the burden of such a meritorious duty with complete devotion; show yourselves so punctilious in its execution, so zealous and eager in word and deed, that from your labours, by the favour of divine grace, the hoped-for harvest will come in, and that through your devotion you will not only earn that crown of glory which is the due recompense of all who promote religious causes, but also attain from us and the said Holy See the unbounded commendation that your proved diligence will deserve.

No obstacle is afforded to our wishes by the Apostolic constitutions and orders, or by anything in our aforesaid earlier missive which we do not wish to stand in the way, or by any other pronouncements to the contrary.

No one whatsoever may infringe this our written decision, declaration, precept, injunction, assignation, will, decree; or rashly contravene it. Should anyone dare to attempt such a thing, let him know that he will incur the wrath of Almighty God and of the blessed Apostles Peter and Paul.

      • The Grand Summit in Moscow had been a marked failure, and the subsequent appearance of Russian-trained Indian Cossacks in the Indian army did much to sully the aura of statesmanship that the Tsar had sought to establish. Instead, a few years later, the London Summit held by Captain Manning achieved much greater success, in effect upstaging the Russian Tsar. Peter never forgave Rajaraja and Manning for the twin slights to his pride; however, the Pope, Paul IV, was to prove the scapegoat for his wrath. Archbishop Juan Pedro III of Spain had earlier been exiled to Concordia for crimes against the Spanish State, and Paul was compelled to excommunicate him. Now Peter confronted the Pope with fresh evidence that the Catholic Church was working against the interest of the Russian Empire. Faced with unrelenting pressure, Paul resigned as Pope and went into exile in Germany. He was succeeded by the Cardinal of Moscow, Vladimir Shamanov, who took on the name John III upon his ascension. It was an open secret that the new Pope was very close to the Tsar; certainly, after the change in the Papacy, church-state relationship were very much warmed up. One year after John III ascended, Peter had himself crowned Emperor of the Holy Russian Empire, in the Hagia Sophia.

But every action has a reaction. From 1340 to 1342, a German theologian by the name of Martin Luther published a series of pamplets criticizing the Catholic Church, cumulinating in the 95 Theses that he and his followers nailed to the doors of every church in Russia. This was made easy by the invention of the printing press 5 years earlier in the Imperial Academy. The Holy See, outraged, officially excommunicated Luther in the winter of 1341; this was followed, 4 months later, by the setting up of a Holy Office, and the subsequent launch of the Inquisition in both Russia and Spain. In Russia, Peter was very much supportive of the Church's stance, and imperial agents were often seen escorting Inquisition officials as they went about their business. Perhaps it was not a coincidence that many who had been critical of Peter and his policies found themselves branded as heretics, and punished. The punishments ranged from 'mere' exile to burning at the stake and curxification. Luther himself fled Russia ahead of the Inquisition officials and returned to Germany, where he wasted no time in publishing and popularizing his pamplets among the faithful there.

In the winter of 1350, Peter began having problems with his urinary tract and bladder. When these problems reoccurred in the summer of 1352, a team of doctors performed surgery. The following November, while on a visit along the Northern Coast, Peter saw a group of soldiers drowning near Feodorgrad and assisted in their rescue. The cold water rescue exacerbated Peter's bladder problems and caused his death on January 28, 1353.

Peter the Great was buried on the grounds of the Hagia Sophia in a solemn ceremony. Pope John III canonized him as a saint two years later, and set his feast day on 15th April - the day that Peter had first assumed the title of Tsar of Mother Russia. Now, Tsar Alexei I became the next Emperor of the Holy Russian Empire. The long-serving Russian Prime Minister, Boris Shuisky, passed away shortly after the Emperor that he had served for so long was canonized. Free now of his father's influence, it was to be seen if Alexei would continue his father's policies, or strike out a new path of his own.

        • A History of the Germanic lands in the middle ages.

          Political developments in Germania

          -The Rise of Germanic Nationalism.
Following the American reclamation of Boston from India, ceded during the great war of the late classical age, India entered a period of nationalist fervor and military rearmament. Indian nationalism was based in the idea that India had a separate and distinct cultural and intellectual heritage that was superior to that of all others. As an extension of this thought, groups of Indian nationalists wished to spread this culture to all other nations, by any means necessary. And they would start with Boston, then the rest of America and also eventually Germany, doing the same for France on the way it was suspected.

As a counterresponse to the hostile Indian nationalism and its desire of spreading by means of force, a nationalist movement began in Germany with a distinctly different base. The people of Germany were by blood, history and language a distinct people with its own culture. As a result Indian nationalism claiming that all who would embrace Indian culture could be Indian, German nationalism stressed that Germans were Germans and that nationality was a matter of language and lineage, not choice. The result was among other things an expansion of the German military to defend the uniqueness of the German people.

          -Russian and English peace summits.
Following the Indian leadership's aggressive behaviour despite America requesting a rebuilding of relations between the two countries, the Czar of Russia, Peter II arranged a peace summit to be held in Moscow. Delegations from India, Germany and America attended as well as the Russian Czar and the Pope Paul VI. The summit discussed the many reasons and results of the Boston problem, but in the end India refused any compromise and left the summit, leading the Czar to promise the neutrality of Russia if a war were to ensue.

Despite his promise Russia spent vast resources and manpower upgrading the Indian army, supplying them with distinctly Russian Elite Cossack raiders. This resulted in a huge credibility loss of Peter II among many nations when it became known as the Indian army then moved upon Boston. Fearing another Great War would ensue, English diplomats scrambled together another peace summit aiming for peace by any means, including the return of Boston to India. In compensation America would be provided with lands in the new world where the English and Incans had began settling.

Through a series of diplomatic agreements and pressure, America accepted the arrangement, though very reluctantly, and many suspected that America might once again lay claim to Boston. Though for many years America upheld the peace despite widespread popular outrage.

-The Rise and Fall of French militancy
As a result of America's surrender of Boston, the zionist's of France staged a great rally in Paris demanding that action be taken against such cowardly behaviour. The pacifist King of France was reluctant to engage in hostilites, but several French aristocrats and other militant factions acted without consent of their weakwilled King.

The Lord Protector of Germania demanded an immediate cessation of hostilites towards the Germans in France and on its borders, lest Germany would be forced to respond in kind. King Louis of France had by then lost all semblance of authority and the militant factions of France roamed unchecked and initiated several minor raids on Germania Major's borderlands and persecution of Germans and Americans in France became continously worse.

As a result the Hochraat der Germania (High Counsil of Germany) formally declared war upon France and embarked upon a military campaign to capture Lyons, Orleans and Rheims. The French had a strategic advantage, as much of Germany's military was stationed in America to fend off suspected Indian aggression.

Yet France's militant nobles were not satisfied with merely conquering Germania, they desired American lands as well. As they had conducted similar acts of aggression against America, the King of America, George Washington also formally declared war upon France. America also requested Indian assistance in the war and Cossack mercenaries under Indian command moved upon and crushed the defenders of Orleans. The Hochraat was enraged, India had previously threatened America and Germany and were now seizing lands in France, as a result a demand was sent to India that they immediately cede control over Orleans to Germany. The Indian leadership agreed and Orleans was taken over by a German musketmen division. Shortly after the siege of Lyons ended with Germany conquering the city. American and German forces continued the campaign, capturing Paris for America and finally ending the war, and France, when German troops burned Rheims to the ground. The French Kingdom was destroyed, its nobles fallen in battle, its leadership crumbled from within and its people conquered.

-The settling in Concordia and the encroachment of Indians upon Münich
As according to the alliance between Germany and England, Germany was given the city of Aryan for their military support in the conquest of the New World. German soldiers and pioneers made their way towards the colony to settle in the new land.

Meanwhile on the northern coasts of Munich a strange event occurred. For many generations shipwrecked Indian fishermen had been allowed to settle in this area as they could not return to India due to the closed borders. However, during the mid-1300's several horrible storms and hurricanes ravaged the coasts with sudden and fierce northern winds, resulting in a steadlily rising number of Indian sailors stranded on German shores. As the numbers of Indian fishermen increased exponentially from the continuing unstable weather and their tendency to breed like rabbits, the previously lowly populated northern coasts of Munich were soon more Indian than German. In a shocking move, the Indian population on the north coast declared themselves part of the Indian homeland and renounced German rule.

The result should have been a military intervention and a crushing of the rebellion, but for some reason this was totally impossible (stupid game mechanics!!!) and the Münchausen nobles ruling Münich decided to do what they could to teach the rebels German and reinclude them in the German nation when the time was right.

          • Religious developments in Germania during the Middle ages

-The Establishment of the Spanish Mission in Berlin
In the late 13th century the Foundation of Order, Hermann the Staunch, worker representative of Berlin's three-part High council, converted to Christianity. He sent a letter to the Spanish clergy requesting that they send missionaries to spread the Christian faith in Germania and having not received an answer at the time, requested it again from the Pope Paul VI when he visited Moscow as part of the peace summit held there.

The Spanish clergy had despite their tardiness welcomed the proposal and sent missionaries to Germany. The first christian church was established with the Spanish Mission in Berlin. The people of Berlin flocked to the new faith and it spread with incredible speed. The jewish communities in Berlin were the main religious community, but consisted of less than 1/4th of the population in Germany, with the percentage varying from 60% in Hamburg to a mere 10% in Münich. The majority of Germany still hailed the pagan gods of old.

Spanish missionaries proceeded to establish congregations in Münich, and even Hamburg, the core of German Judaism. The Berlin church grew and soon sent out missionaries of their own to the recently captured cities of France where christianity quickly took hold. By the mid 14th century all of Germania Major, the mainland holdings of Germany, had christian congregations. The largest by far was in Berlin and Münich.

            -The Great Schism
Following the conversion of many Germans, many sought to travel in pilgrimage to Russia. Despite the lack of an open border agreement with India, many German christians managed to make their way to the holy city of christianity. Some few even settled there permanently. One such man was Martin Luther. Raised a devout christian, his parents had converted from paganism when the first Spanish Mission was established in Berlin, he joined a Russian monastery and worked in the clergy for many years.

But there were problems within the Russian Church. As Luther realized that the Church was largely staffed with greedy even corrupt leaders and priests, given their positions from political reasons rather than spiritual, he declared that many of the activities of the church were unchristian. Among them the worship of saints, including Peter II, the many rituals inherited from other religions, the idolatry, and the collection of money for religious services, especially that of purchasing relief from purgatory.

Luther then wrote a pamphlet with 95 theses that he, with the aid of others who shared his views, Russians as well as Germans, nailed to every church door in Russia. The result was explosive. The Pope demanded Luther's head and a counterreformation was launched to quell the protestant faction of christianity.

-The rise of protestantism in Germany
Luther fled to Germany were he received the protection of the prince of Münich who agreed with his views. Following Luther's arrival in Münich he began again to spread the protestant reformation in Germany where it had great impact on the developing churches. Rabbi Jakob of the High council announced that Germany would be open to all Christian factions as he himself was beginning to embrace christianity, though he had several concerns, especially those that Luther was speaking of.

As the churches of Germany were not strongly established either in number or tradition, catholic and protestant churches developed simoltaneously in many cities with protestantism being largely the predominant faction, in part due to many Russian protestants immigrating to German lands to avoid persecution.

Approximately two thirds of German christians were protestants, the rest catholics. The result was a period of religious revival and tolerance as the political establishment of Germany were in many ways as diverse in their faiths as was its people. No counterreformation ensued in Germany allowing protestantism to spread and grow unfettered. The catholic communties were particularly strong in former France and Hamburg.

Though Germania Major was becoming increasingly christian, the islands of Seeland and Koinsel were still religiously diverse with jewish minorities being the dominant religious group.

            • Great upheavals occured within the Catholic Church in Yaroslav'l culminating in the "95 Theses," a critical pamphlet written by the German-born Martin Luther. These pamphlets criticized the Catholic Church in Yaroslav'l causing a quick and violent response from Pope John III of Russia. It is difficult to say how this occured as many events changed the Christian faith, we will now take a step back and examine the events leading up to the current Inquisition in Russia and Spain.

              The Spanish Mission

In 1278 a.d. Spanish Archbishop Juan Pedro III and Pope Paul VI recieved transmissions from Christian leaders in America and Germany requesting missionaries to spread the faith throughout their Kingdoms. These letters were kept secret from Spanish Emperor Carlos V, mainly because of a looming war in the region between America (who wished to return the city of Boston to their realm) and India (who wished to prevent this from happening). At the time the Russian Empire was bound to India through a military alliance established prior to the Great World War. The Church was very prominent in Russia,
and held their headquarters in Yaroslav'l, the city credited with the founding of Christianity. For Spain's part, they had recently signed a defensive pact with Russia in 1265 in order to protect the Christian faith. Generally speaking Juan Pedro was worried that if these letters came to light, it would anger not only Emperor Carlos V, but also Czar Peter II of Russia, here is the original letter sent to Spain by Hermann the Staunch of Germany...

              To the Spanish church
From Foundation of Order, Hermann the Staunch

As you are well aware Germany is a mainly jewish nation. My own brother, Rabbi Jakob, represents a great strength in this particular faith and through him it is intertwined with our nations rule. However, I must inform you that I have recently found the Light of Christ to be the Truth and I would as a result request that Spain send christian missionaries to my country. The reason for this is twofold. The first is of course my desire to see my people find the Truth of Christianity, the second is to break the jewish grip of power upon the nations rule as it has in many ways caused as much harm as it has caused good.

My brother is not only a wise man and a strong guide to the nations religious flocks, but he is also a man of considerable integrity and intelligence. If you could send your most divinely inspired missionaries you may succeed in converting him as he will respectfully listen to their views and if he finds them to be True, as I have, then he will likely convert and as a consequence bring with him all of Germany's believers as he has the most stirring and powerful way with words and can argue with considerable ability and wisdom. This is of course a double edged sword as this ability is what will be the obstacle for his conversion. However, if you can argue strongly enough for our faith that he be convinced, you will have won all of Germany for Christianity.

You should as I see it perform two actions in order to succeed in this matter. The first would be to send missionaries to convert the common folk of Germany and thus build a base that will strenghten your arguments by giving popular desire for a change. The second would be to send an official letter to my brother, Wilhelm Upholder of Wisdom, as an opener for the religious discussion that will hopefully end with his conversion. As the Holy Spirit will surely be with you in this matter I foresee success to be inevitable eventually.

              -Hermann of Germania.
Juan Paul III responded quickly, and told Hermann that he would indeed send missionaries to German cities, despite the potential of Spain's involvement in the war. He knew the Emperor's intent to send troops, and potentially aide in the attack on America IF American or German soldiers harmed Russian soldiers, and planned to send his missionaries in secret among the Spanish armies stationed in Delhi. He wrote back to Hermann, ensuring him that the men would be there, and even reported that Spanish forces were already present in the area. This alarmed Spanish Foreign Minister Pedro Abarca de Bolea, who quickly informed the Emperor. Carlos moved quickly to condemn Juan Paul III, however the Pope felt that execution would be too severe, so Juan Paul III was exiled to the New World and excommunicated. The plan to send missionaries, however, was already under way and the Emperor could do little to stop the priests from traveling to Berlin.

With the new faith on the way came fear of battle between the armies of Spain and those of America and Germany, the first peace summit in Moscow failed when Indian leader Rajaraja Chola refused to accept any deal that would result in Boston's return to America, and stormed out of the meeting. America, for their part, accused the Indians of disrespecting the Bible because of their ridicule of the Jewish Torah, which is also part of Christian lore. There was much anxiety among the forces of General Balboa, who was put in command of the Spanish expedition. Despite this anxiety, however, he noted that there were a number of Spanish soldiers who...

...maintained overtly religious convictions, many of whom wished to travel to Germany, which was against our orders, many of these men said that God called upon them and went anyway, some of them were punished, and others were simply ignored..

              -General Balboa, 1277 a.d.
Unbeknownst to the General, these soldiers were missionaries in hiding, who had orders from Archbishop Juan Pedro III and Pope Paul VI to spread Christianity to Germany, and where better to start than Berlin? Hermann the Staunch had made it clear in his letters to Juan Pedro III that the most important thing would be to gain the support of the German nobility, many of whom resided in Berlin. The plan was quite simple; they would spread the faith throughout the German mainland, and from there expect the Germans to spread it to Germany's various island holdings. These missionaries disguised as soldiers had an unexpected effect however - it changed the political feeling of the looming war, Spain was quickly charged with outright support for India, which caused m any nations on Terra to clamor for a peaceful resolution to the war. Certainly if Spain and Russia joined the conflict the Americans, French, and Germans would stand no chance and quickly went to the Northern Alliance for support. Lord Protector of England, Captain William Manning (who was commander of the English forces who took Novogrod during the Great World War) called for an international summit to attempt to reconcile the Indian possession of Boston with Germany and America's contention that Spain, China, Russia, and India were working together behind the scenes to continue their dominance of the continent. Unlike the summit in Moscow, the summit in London established peace accords that not only kept Boston under Indian control, but extended land grants to the Americans and Germans in the New World. Peace was reached, and now there was nothing stopping the Spanish mission in Berlin.

Before the summit in London, however, Spanish missionaries had already reached and established the Spanish Mission in Berlin, and despite much persecution from the Jewish population (many saw Spain as a force of imperialism, and believed the missionaries attempted to spy on Germany) the Spanish Mission became successful in establishing a small Christian community in Germany, they particularly took to Christ's teachings of love and respect for the poor and meek, as many Germans felt that nations such as India preyed upon their weaknesses. Unfortunately Spanish missionaries in Munich and Hamburg were not as lucky, as they were driven from the cities through violent means. Eventually Carlos V decided that he woul you that at least two whole groups of missionaries were killed in Germany, at least two. And from what I can tell the Spanish converted four cities down there, Munich, Berlin, Hamburg, and Paris. That means six groups were sent, and as far as we can tell Juan Pedro and the Pope were only responsible for one. What does this tell you? Quite simply the Emperor and the Czar removed Juan Pedro III and the Pope from power and installed their own favorable leaders, now THEY control the church. This is what Martin Luther wanted the world to know, and this is what the Church is working hard to prevent. Plain and simple Carlos saw a plan he liked, he stole it from Juan Pedro III and now he's sharing it with Czar Peter II. THAT is what is really going on.
              [/quote]

Martin Luther was a German-born Russian christian who had had enough of what he considered Imperial dominance of the Church. He cited the actions of both Emperor Carlos and Czar Peter as evidence that the faith was no longer controlled by the priests, but by the powerful northern Emperors. In his "95 thesis" he mentions secular control of the faith by these leaders, as well as the selling of religious favors to powerful Russian and Spanish dukes, and finally complaints about the fusion of old religions with christianity (Hinduism in Russia, and Buddhism in Spain) (even some German and American nobles were involved in the contraversey.) The recent invention of the printing press allowed his leaflets to spread throughout Russia, Germany, America and Spain creating chaos among the Catholic elites and an outcy by southern christians to break away from the official church in Yaroslav'l. For their part the northern Catholics presented counter-arguments to Luther's thesis, but the damage had already been done.

              The Counter-Reformation and Inquisition

The following is an official edict by the Russian church...

The Establishment of the Congregation of the Holy Office to Maintain and Defend the Integrity of the Faith

Let it be known that a Holy Office shall be established to counter the Heretical views that tempt Good and Faithful Christians all over Terra. There shall be a Grand Inquisitor appointed in the most Christian Nations of Russia and Spain, and other nations as the Holy See views fit. This Inquisition shall seek to Root Out, Once and for All, the Agents of the Devil wherever they may Lie.

              Pope John III
Written at the Hagia Sophia, Moscow, on the 10th April 1342, during the twenty-first year of the pontificate.
Emperor Carlos V was torn between two decisions; on one hand he had loyally served the Pope and the Czar, and on the other he had to reconcile a storied history of Spanish Buddhist principles (including those of the national hero El Cid) with the powerful Catholic Church. Not only this, but he held political ties with the Russians as well in the form of an official Defensive Pact. Therefore the decision to allow the inquisition to occur in Spain was one he would regret until his dying day. Despite this he quickly called upon Spanish priests and noblemen alike to ensure that Spanish protestants (which fortunately for him were not numerous) were hunted down and dealt with appropriately. This created a backlash from the Spanish Buddhist community, despite the fact that they were exempt in Spain from the inquisition, to stage protests including mass-meditations (which blocked important roads), paying for the passage of many protestants (both Spanish and Russian) to New Spain, and in some rare cases Buddhist monks would set themsleves on fire during some of the burnings. This lead to many, including powerful Buddhist dukes to call for the end of a violent inquisition in Spain; Carlos had no idea what to do in this situation as he was worried he would lose the support of Russia, we'll discuss his decision later.

The Russian inquisition however was far more brutal, thousands and thousands of Russian Jews, Hindus, Protestants and foreigners were put to the rack and torch. Many intelligent and hard working Russians were fettered out this way, creating a situation similar to the Indian reign of terror (which saw the demise of great Indians like General Pusyamitra and Foreign Minister Chanakya). Such a strange twist of fate saw the nation who condemned the actions of their own ally the Indians acting in a more brutal fashion than those they condemned! The effect this would have would be two-fold; first it would create a wave of Russian immigration into Germany which resulted in a new society and in many ways a scientific revival, the second would be a general division of Germany as explained in the book "Religious Developments in Germany During the Middle Ages"... BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH.

...Luther fled to Germany were he received the protection of the prince of Münich who agreed with his views.

Though Germania Major was becoming increasingly christian, the islands of Seeland and Koinsel were still religiously diverse with jewish minorities being the dominant religious group...
These developments forced Emperor Carlos to convene with his most closest advisors and a grand meeting of the Imperial Court was called into order. Those present would be Prince Carlos VI, El Infante Alfonso Guzman de Olivares, Prince Felipe II, General DeMores, General Chaves, Don Diego de Parma, Don Pedro Abarca de Bolea, Admiral Hidalgo, General Balboa, Archbishop Horatio II, and finally Emperor Carlos V himself!

NEXT: The Abdication of Charles V!

              • CONCORDIA COLONIES DELIMITATION PROPOSAL
                BANTU, 1352 AD

To: All Nations Of The World
CC: Inca Foreign Ministry, English Foreign Ministry

Taking into consideration the different claims for land and new settlements in Concordia, previously accorded deals, and the current situation of the different countries involved in the colonization effort, the Council for a Peaceful Concordia (CPC) has prepared the following draft to be reviewed by the said parties and by the second member, The English, who do have veto power over these proposals.

                Notes
                1) The repartition of land on Southern Concordia is subject to the approval of the following plan:
                - England will give the Illinois colony to the Americans in exchange for military support in the liberation of Karakorum, now under control of the terrorist state known as Mongolia.
                - Inca have already given approval to this new coalition and its military is currently in alert status due to repeated threats by the Mongols in the region.
                - Mongol catapults have been sighted repeatedly near the English border. All other nations are invited to participate in the suppression of the Mongolian threat.

                2) No restrictions will be placed on the amount of settlements allotted to each nation. However, in order to avoid future cultural clashes in the region, settlements will have to be founded at a distance of no less than 100 km (3 tiles aprox.) from the respective border. This means:

                - Spanish should place new settlements no more than 31.62 km (1 tile) west of Sarmatia
                - American settlements will have to be founded on the eastern coastline
                - Chinese colony will have to be settled on the western coastline

                3) Maps are drawn to scale and correspond to standard topographical projections. Local topography can be requested if more detail is needed.

                NORTHERN CONCORDIA

                SOUTHERN CONCORDIA

                Awaiting your approval and/or observations,
Sapa Inca, Chairman of the CPC, Northern Alliance

                • His Most Catholic Majesty Carlos V, King of Castille, King of Aragon, King of Leon, Duke of Toledo, and Emperor of the Holy Spanish Empire.

TO: The Council for a Peaceful Concordia (England, Inca)
FROM: Don Pedro Abarca de Bolea, Chief Foreign Minister of Spain.

On its face your plan works well, however we must object to a few issues that are on it. The first being the small size of the Chinese grant in comparison with that of America. I will remind both England and the Incan Empire that the Americans took part in the raping of France, and benefited handsomely from it, as well as support from the Indians and our ally the Russians.

I believe America's time for charity is nearing an end, and this agreement will give them a substantial amount of territory that they themselves have argued they are unable to fund!

We are in now way implying that America is to recieve a small amount of territory, but your plan gives the Chinese one port city and you decide where it goes, if we give the southern peninsula directly to Chinese control, which would give the Americans a substantial amount of land, as well as a decent amount to the Chinese.

You may ask why I am concerned with Chinese territory? The reasons are two-fold; the first not having anything to do with the Chinese but with the Americans. Might I remind the English and Incans that the Americans, despite their refusal to admit it, did start the Great World War, might I remind the English and the Incans that the Americans DID in fact use military force to take Boston from India in an unannounced fashion, and might I remind the English and Inca that it was the Americans who also took part in the conquest of France. Now, you may tell me that they had a right to stand up for themselves, that they had a right to retake Boston, and that France caused the war. And you may be right. However, this does not change the fact that time and time again America has relied solely on military means to achieve their goals, is THIS the nation the Council for a PEACEFUL CONCORDIA wishes to gain such a large amount of territory in Concordia?

The second reason is a bit more selfish, but as you will see it speaks towards peace; for centuries Chinese and Spanish relations have been cold at best, Chinese officials often looked warily upon Spain and dialogue was literally non-existant. Eventually Russia brokered talks where Chinese officials admitted they didn't do business with Spain, or speak with Spain, because they worried that Spain intended to impede their progress and expansion. I believe extending the Chinese grant in this small way would effectively gain Chinese support not only for the Spanish but also for the English and Inca, and I believe it is necessary that a nation the size of China, and as great as China would be a good peaceneighbor in friend, especially if we intend on gaining peace not only in Concordia, but all over Terra.

What does the Council think of these points?

                  Thank you,

                  Don Pedro Abarca de Bolea

                  • George Washington: Did we receive any reactions on the proposal of Sapa Inca?

Thomas Jefferson: Only the spanish emperor, Carlos V, has responded.

                    George Washington: Any good news?

Thomas Jefferson: Not really. As always Carlos tries to give us as little as possible. He says that we shouldn't receive much new land since we 'raped' France, apparantly.

George Washington: Raped France? How is it possible that Carlos once again is able to turn the truth upside down! Does he not know about the French treachery during the American-Indian war? How suddenly the French soldiers, who were supposed to assist us against the Indians, aimed their weapons at our backs?

How we suddenly faced two enemies, and how we together with Germany feared for the end of our nations? And now Spain says that we raped the French?

George Washington raised from his chair and raised his hand while his face glowed in anger....

Thomas Jefferson: Calm down George! Calm down! We know that Spain has an...... interesting view on everything that happens to us. We learned as well that anger nor reason can change this.

George Washington: Does Carlos not know that we had to give up Boston and hand it over to the Indians only to retreat our armies as fast as possible to defend ourselves against a new enemy?

Thomas Jefferson: It doesn't matter George, it doesn't matter. Spain doesn't care about facts or history. Please now calm down!

George Washington: Doesn't Carlos know that we signed a deal! We lost Boston and in exchange we agreed that TWO SETTLERS would be given to America to settle new cities in the new world, and to expand in the new world!

Thomas Jefferson: Spain has a short memory George, you should know that by now!

George Washington: And then we agreed with the nations of Terra that after we were able to capture Paris we would lose our claim on the two settlers but still got the claim on the new world!

We talked and we talked and we talked for hours! We all went to London for this summit, and now this all means NOTHING to Spain. IT MEANS NOTHING TO SPAIN.

WHAT'S NEXT? WILL INDIA AGREE WITH SPAIN? WHAT WILL RUSSIA DO? WHY WILL THESE NATIONS EVER STOP TAKING FROM US................

Thomas Jefferson: Please sit down George, you freak me out!

George Washington: AND WHY WOULD IT BE GIVEN TO CHINA? THE MOST ADVANCED NATION OF TERRA! THEY HAVE ENOUGH SPACE TO EXPAND!

                    WE CANNOT LET THIS HAPPEN.........

Thomas Jefferson: George, don't make decisions you'll regret later! You are right, it's always the same, we'll always be the nation that'll be bullied by the large nations. And their promises apparantly have no value, but anger is not a good reaction, keep it reasonable George, calm down please!

George Washington: CALM DOWN? WHILE WE MUST FEAR! FEAR I TELL YOU.
WE'VE SEEN IT BEFORE THAT INDIA BROKE THE PEACE WE SIGNED! WE MUST FEAR!

                    Thomas Jefferson: George......

George Washington: THEIR PROMISES HAVE NO VALUE. TODAY THEY TAKE OUR LAND IN THE NEW WORLD, TOMORROW THEIR FORCES WILL KNOCK ON THE DOORS OF WASHINGTON.......... OR EVEN ROBINGTHON

                    Thomas Jefferson: Geor.....

George Washington: I am calm Thomas. I AM CALM! Now tell our armies to be prepared for battle. We must be ready when the joint indian-russian-spanish-chinese armies will try to eliminate us. Their words mean nothing.

Thomas Jefferson: There is no war George! There is no reason for this!

George Washington: There is no war..... yet.. But how can I trust them after this? After their treacherous breaking of the convenant of the new world...

Thomas Jefferson: They didn't break it George, only Spain has some objections........ nothing has been decided yet.......... let's wait for th...

George Washington: NOT YET NOT YET, OF COURSE NOTHING HAS DECIDED YET. THEY'LL BUY TIME AND IN THE MEANWHILE THEY'LL SEND THEIR OWN SETTLERS TO THE NEW WORLD AND THEIR ARMIES TO ROBINGTHON

Thomas Jefferson: But they promised not to.......

George Washington: INDIA PROMISED PEACE AS WELL, BUT BROKE THEIR WORDS WITHIN A FEW YEARS. THEIR WORDS MEAN NOTHING.

SPAIN AGREED WITH THE LONDON SUMMIT DEAL, AND NOW CARLOS ACTS AS IF THE DEAL NEVER EXISTED......

Thomas Jefferson: Let's wait for the reaction of India and Russia first, George, please calm down. Please, in the name of the One True God! You act like a fool!

George Washington: A FOOL? A FOOOOL? IS THAT WHAT YOU NAME ME? I CARE FOR MY PEOPLE, AND I WILL NOT LET IT HAPPEN THAT WE'LL LOSE WASHINGTON AND ROBINGTHON AND HOW KNOWS WHAT ELSE!

THEIR SOLDIERS WILL NEVER SET FOOD ON AMERICAN GROUND AGAIN.........!
WE WILL NOT WAIT FOR THEIR ARRIVAL! LET ALL TROOPS BE PREPARED FOR AN ATTACK ON BOSTON AND MADRAS! SEND A LETTER TO THE GERMANS AND ASK THEM FOR HELP, BUT IF THEY WON'T, WE WILL FIGHT UNTILL WE DIE.

Thomas Jefferson: Don't do this George.... don't do this...!

George Washington: I WILL DO WHATEVER IS NEEDED TO PROTECT THE LIVES OF MY PEO.....

suddenly Washington dropped down from the chair he was standing on. His head hitted the ground first. He didn't move, his eyes wide open. His hand still shaped as a fist, anger in his eyes. His dead eyes.......
The old heart of George Washington wasn't strong enough to support his anger........

                    The door opened.........
John Adams entered the Oval Office

John Adams: What happened to George?

Thomas Jefferson: His heart failed, John. He got the reaction from Spain.

                    John Adams: What reaction?

Thomas Jefferson: Carlos disagrees with the Incan proposal for the dividing of the new world.

John Adams: We have an agreement.....

Thomas Jefferson: We have, but apparantly this has no value.........

John Adams: What was the reaction of George?

Thomas Jefferson: He dropped death on the ground when he heard it. His heart apparantly couldn't stand another betrayal. I'm sure he would have had a wise response, since he was a wise man after all. Let's write a letter in his spirit to Carlos.

John Adams: We should do that...........

                    • To: His Most Catholic Majesty Carlos V, King of Castille, King of Aragon, King of Leon, Duke of Toledo, and Emperor of the Holy Spanish Empire.
From: Thomas Jefferson, King of America

Hail Carlos V, Emperor of the Holy Spanish Empire!

I wish to inform you about the death of our former king, George Washington. He died before he received your resopnse to the purposal of Sapa Inca. Since George and me were very close my response will be in his spirit.

I see your reasons to reject the Incan proposal. I want to ask you nevertheless to reconcider your position. I want to bring it under your attention that the French betrayed us and we never raped them but had to defend ourselves against their hordes, who attacked our cities while we thought they would help us in our battle against the Indians.

We gained Paris in the battle that followed, but we lost Boston to the Indians. We agreed on the summit of Mannin of England that America should be compensated with 2 settlers for the loss of Boston. Further America would compensated with room for expansion in the new world. After we gained Paris, we agreed that America would drop their claim on the 2 settlers. The claim on territory in the new world never dropped, nevertheless. And all nations of Terra accepted this. So did you!

I know that you are true to your word and will reconcider your position therefor. The Chinese can be our neighbours in the new world, but please be aware of the fact that China has many territory and many resources already in the Old World.

I wish to greet you in the spirit of George Washington.
                      He will be missed!
May the bounds between our nation grow and be strong and may peace and respect be between our nations!

                      • The Golden Age of Rajaraja Chola - Part I

The age of Rajaraja Chola was a golden age for the Indian people and for Hindu culture. Unlike the great age of Ashoka, this period of prosperity was built on strength - not weakness. Only through strength could the impressive decades following the Indian-American war have happened. The age of Rajaraja was the most glorious in Indian history.

                        The Indian-American War

The age of Rajaraja had a rocky beginning. Americans invaded India and captured Boston, Emperor Ashoka weakly capitulated and gave into their demands, sparking a nationalist revolution in India ultimately installing Rajaraja Chola as Consul for Life.

The people demanded justice, and Rajaraja brought it to them against all obsticles. The Russian peace summit was a joke, the Americans & Germans had no interest in justice, no interest in admitting to and repairing the crimes they had committed in the conquest of Boston. So Rajaraja prepared a counter-attack. With a single-minded focus, the Indian people came together and volunteered en masse for the new, modern Indian military.

Even though the Russian Czar had seemingly turned his back on his longtime Indian friends, there were many elements in Russian society that were sympathetic with the Indian cause. Many were inspired by the rhetoric of Indian nationalism, and so volunteered to give willing Indian recruits the most rigorous military training the world had yet seen. The new national Indian army was soon the envy of the world. With one objective in mind, they marched to Boston to reunite their lost brothers.

At last, world opinion turned against the trecherous Americans and they had no choice but to return Boston to its rightful owners. Many Germans & Americans died in the assault on Boston (though not enough according to many in the Indian military) - the campaign was a wild success. Boston was at last reunited with the rest of India.

The Rise and Fall of French Nationalism

The triumphant Indian nationalism was a universal doctrine. A doctrine of pride, strength, freedom & equality. The new ideals of Indianism - as it came to be called - caught on like wildfire all through India and indeed through all of Terra. Political movements began in France, and Russia, and among the Inca. The whole world tilted their world view in an Indian direction. Lacking basic freedom of speech like India, most nations attempted to stamp out the new talk of freedom & equality.

In most nations the status-quo was successful, in France however the Indianists proved too powerful and could not be contained. An idea unleashed is a powerful, dangerous thing as the world would soon know. Spurred on by the defeat of the Southern Alliance at Boston, French nationalists figured the Alliance was weak and could be defeated by their nationalist fervor.

The revolution was led by luminary French Indianists such as General Napoléon Bonaparte, Maximilien Robespierre, and Jacques Pierre Brissot. However no sooner than the King was deposed did the factions turn on each other. The pure Indianism espoused by Brissot was corrupted and radicalized. Robespierre was the one to doom the cause. Instead of calling on Indian aid in the revolution, he vilified the Indians - making them an enemy of France along with America & Germany. Brissot was killed, and the doctrine of Indianism became a new form of French Nationalism that had no sense of restraint.

The short-lived French Republic declared war on America, India & Germany impossibly dreaming their military could take on all three. They were wrong. Orleans was captured and held by the Indian cavalry, while Lyons and Paris fell to the Germans & Americans respectively.

Despite the declaration of war, India had much sympathy for France - at least for the discredited Brissotin faction. They privately wished the spirit of Indianism would sweep the rest of the south. The Germans & Americans however had no such sympathies. Perhaps anguished by their defeat at Boston they took out their frustration on their former French allies, committing many horrible atrocities.

The Jewish nations were intent on blood. Orleans, Lyons & Paris were spared the worst, but the bloody days at Rheims witnessed more unspeakable horrors than the world had ever seen.

Hundreds of thousands of French people were murdered in Rheims. Men, women, children, the elderly, all were put to the sword. The ground ran with streams of blood and the sky filled with embers. The whole city was burned to the ground and the people massacred to the last man.

Rajaraja called out loudly and forcefully to stop the killing. After much protest some in the German & American leadership stayed their hand - it is believed Lyons was spared due only to the diplomatic pressure of India, however Rheims could not be spared.

With the French monarchy dead, the leaders of the revolution executed, and the military destroyed, it is believed that France will never again recover the position they once held internationally. Paris will from now on be an American city, while Orleans and Lyons will be German.

India mourns the loss of a proud, but sadly misled French people. Perhaps they could have been brothers. Instead they will be forever mourned and their suffering will stand as a testiment to the world of German & American wrath and bloodlust.

Unlike the great age of Ashoka, this period of prosperity was built on strength - not weakness. Only through strength could the impressive decades following the Indian-American war have happened. The age of Rajaraja was the most glorious in Indian history.

                          The Indian Renaissance

The Indian Revolution led to a rebirth of Hindu tradition, religion and culture. Since Bharata Muni published the Natya Shastra drama took off like wildfire through India. Plays based on the Ramayana and Mahabharata in addition to many original works originated in Delhi & Bombay before hitting the extensive theater circuit.

The outlying cities of India, Calcutta, Bangalore, Lahore, Boston & Madras all built grand new theaters to accommodate the new plays.

Allowed to blossom under the Rajaraja regime that allowed and encouraged the people to speak freely and create extensively, the arts achieved a great renaissance in India. Taking and expanding upon ancient Indian art, drama, literature and architecture Indian art knew no bounds. In Delhi the renowned Indian sculptor and artist, Ravi Varma created a now famous sculpture of Rama on display at the National Gallery of Art in Delhi.

Indian architecture, sculpture, painting, literature (kaavya), music and dancing evolved their own rules conditioned by their respective media, but they shared with one another not only the underlying spiritual beliefs of the Indian religio-philosophic mind, but also the procedures by which the relationships of the symbol and the spiritual states were worked out in detail.

In addition to theater and art, great works of architecture developed during this period. The most magnificent of them all was the Taj Mahal of Bombay. Commissioned by the great Bombay patron of the artis, Shah Jahan, the towering palace was built as a mausoleum for his favorite wife. Bringing in elements of Hindu, Confucianist, and Taoist styles, the Taj Mahal now rises prominently in the Bombay skyline.

                          International Admiration for Indian Culture

As Indian culture grew and grew in India the world couldn't help but notice. Soon Indian plays were being performed in Moscow, Cuzco, Berlin, and around the world. Indianism was discussed in universities the world over. Indian art, literature and music was admired and respected as the world's leader by which all other artists, writers and musicians measured themselves against. Even Indian sports and games have found their way into the daily lives of foreign cultures. Indian games & sports such as Chess, Snakes and Ladders, Playing cards, Polo, and Badminton have now been adopted the world over.

As Indian culture, especially in the golden age of Rajaraja Chola, was intimately tied in with Hinduism, the growing appreciation for Indian culture led to a growing acceptance and adoption of Hinduism. Large communities of Hindus were established among the Inca & Chinese, and the majority Confucionist eastern half of India covering Boston, Madras & Lahore all increasingly adopted Hinduism. The explosive growth of Hinduism has led to its overtaking of Judaism as Terra's most widely held religion. An estimated 23% of the world's population identifies themselves as Hindu - and that number only continues to grow.

With the mass adoption and appreciation for Indian culture it is no surprize that many neighboring communities have sought to officially join the state of India. Many border towns in Russia and America have sworn allegiance to India and forsaken their Russian & American rulers. Rajaraja Chola has welcomed them into the nation happily and without bloodshed.

Even the Germans living on the north bank of Vishnu Bay have sought out a new life as Indians. The northern suburbs of Munich, Schwabing and Fürstenfeldbruck, long bastions of Hinduism and boasting a strong ethnically Indian population, have renounced German rule and sworn allegiance to mother India. German and Indian alike.

                          • His Most Catholic Majesty Carlos V, King of Castille, King of Aragon, King of Leon, Duke of Toledo, and Emperor of the Holy Spanish Empire.

TO: Thomas Jefferson, King of the Americans.
FROM: Don Pedro Abarca de Bolea.

We are a bit troubled by the fact that you think our diplomats have rejected the treaty, on the contrary we agreed with the treaty but simply object to the final outline, and I believe the outline was presented as a potential solution and not a final one. I would also like to point out that at the London summit Spain did not agree with, no disagree with its terms, we simply stated we were not involved and thus would have nothing to add to the summit, if you believe otherwise please contact Captain Manning, I am sure he can show you the error of your ways.

As for your missive we will go point by point and tell you the position of Spain...

Hail Carlos V, Emperor of the Holy Spanish Empire!

I wish to inform you about the death of our former king, George Washington. He died before he received your resopnse to the purposal of Sapa Inca. Since George and me were very close my response will be in his spirit.
The Emperor, his family, and the clergy of Spain all send our condolences to America for their tragic loss, he was a great man and did a lot for peace.

So did you!
Again, you are incorrect. According to our forces that were in the area, and our diplomatic reports India declared war on France, Germany declared war on France and America declared war on France. There is evidence to support this and if need be I can show it to you. If you insist on lying we will have no more discussion on this matter and mistrust you for all eternity. As far as the agreement, yes America agreed to 1 settler and room to expand, and NO Spain did not agree to anything in the meeting as we told you we had nothing to do with it. Again if you don't believe me I can provide evidence. We never said you can't expand we simply said that China's claim could be extended with little damage to yours.

I know that you are true to your word and will reconcider your position therefor. The Chinese can be our neighbours in the new world, but please be aware of the fact that China has many territory and many resources already in the Old World.
While this may be the case the fact that the Chinese have been successful should not be a reason to stymie them. Your country went through hardships, but as stated in the letter send to the Inca and English (which we have no idea how you saw by the way) the Chinese have been a peaceful nation and have not used conquest to further their territory (India, Germany, America, England, Inca, and Spain are all guilty of this), they simply wish for a port in the new world and as stated before the proposed extention for the Chinese claim is NOT a large one, and America should feel fortunate that countries like Spain, like England, like Germany, and like the Inca are willing to send their men to die for you. Not once has America thanked the nations involved for their sacrafice. Yet the second any discussion begins that may or may not take some territory from them, they complain. Not a very good sign.

I wish to greet you in the spirit of George Washington.
                            He will be missed!
May the bounds between our nation grow and be strong and may peace and respect be between our nations!

                            Thomas Jefferson
                            King of America
Again, we appreciate the friendship extended by the Americans, but we believe there is a strange concept of fairness in America. Simply because your country was weak does not mean they are ENTITLED to more land than any one else, we are not saying at all that the American claim should be revoked, on the contrary we believe it is fair to give you land. However, we don't think you should get the sizeable claim the Inca have suggested especially due to your propensity to use war as a method of diplomacy rather than, well, diplomacy.

To reiderate my points; (1) France WAS NOT the aggressor state in the war, and this has been politicized by India, Germany and America (2) America and Germany already have gained from the conquest of France, an illegal act that the world has seen fit to ignore, (3) Spain omitted their involvement in the summit, which means we did not agree with or disagree with its decision, we simply had nothing to do with it (4) China has literally been the most peaceful state on Terra thus far, whether America likes to admit it or not it is the truth (5) Americans did little to nothing to help in the conquest of Concordia, (6) America has historically relied on aggression to solve its problems, whether this aggression was successful or not is unimportant.

Thank you for your time sir, we mourn your fallen King,

                            Don Pedro Abarca de Bolea

                            • The Berlin Mirror.

Storms continue to ravage the seas north of Münich
Following the repeated storms of recent years a steadily increasing number of Indian fishermen have been stranded on Münich's north coast. In a bold move by Indan immigrant leaders a declaration of adherence to India has torn these formerly lowpopulated provinces north of Münich away from their traditional German princedom. The Prince Münchausen has declared that the move is an affront to Germany's territorial sovereignity and that measures will be taken to restore the lands to Germany. The Prince has however officially declared that these measures will be exclusively peaceful in nature and that any violence directed towards the Indian populace in the province or elsewhere in Münich's princedom will be punished most severely.

Spain claims France was not aggressor in the French betrayal
In a letter acquired by one of our associates from Spanish officials to the American throne, Spain has declared that France was not the aggressor despite American, German and Indian consent that it was. In the opinion this makes Spain's foreign ministry a laughing stock. Spain is located thousands of miles from the area and obviously have no clue as to what goes on in the region. They have had no eyes to inform them and the editor of this magazine can only conclude that they base their decisions on guesses and fortune tellers instead of facts.

If Spain in fact was against the war they could have stood up for France and fought with them. Instead they snivel and spread lies after the war in an attempt to discredit the rulers of the remaining southern nations and their actions. While Spain has no eyewitnesses Germany, America and even India, traditionally opposed to Germany in all things diplomatic, has thousands of eyewitnesses that speak of terrors and horrors commited by French revolutionaries.

                              Growth of Noble house
Following the third succession of the Hessen house in control over the southern island Seeland, the new Prince, Wellmeyer von Hessen, has sworn allegiance to the German high council, but has stated previously that Seeland will be run by what he has said would be "a strong and independent will". Officials in Berlin have dismissed the statement as harmless to the Germanic Union, though some suspect the outer princedoms are becoming too unruly. More to follow on this developing trend in next edition as a response from our scribes in Seeland Proper will arrive by ship within the end of the year.
