        • First of all, I'd like to apologize to LzPrst personally; what I said was not really directed at you, but at people who have (in the past) ruined diplogames. I figured I'd explode because I too was pissed. This shouldn't be how it goes, and I'm sorry I did that, you have shown up to all of the sessions and I have no right to have posted such remarks.

But with that said, we really need to understand that if this game, which will be AMAZING, is going to happen we all have to be determined.

Cybershy, I think we all got your message. I am down.

There is no reason not to be. I think what we need to do at this point is to get on AIM as much as possible, and simply check in with eachother and try to connect. But before that we should all get our "**** together."

Once we all have our "**** together" we can try to connect with eachother and see if there are any bad peers. If there still are bad peers we know that having our "**** together" didn't matter to begin with and try another route. Yes, there is at least one more way, and Moker told me about it, so Ozzy if you want to ask him go ahead I'm sure he'll tell you the same plan and you may realize how simple this could have been the entire time.

But for now, let's just get our "**** together."

          Peace.

          • I think we're doing very good!
How strange it may sound, these 2 try-out sessions have showed something very important!!!

In both FAILED sessions we ALL showed up.
That shows that we're all devoted! We don't have to be afraid that one of us will let us down. These two sessions have showed that we will be there. That's a good thing!

            Am I an optimist?

              • Who can show up for a connection test on Thursday 17:00 GMT (18:00 CET, 12:00 EST)

Just for a quick connection test.
That must be late evening australia and half-day america and early evening europe. It must be possible to gather with 6 or 7 of us to just try it.

                • I probably won't be able to make that test session, and I apologize for my drunken post. I know I didn't say anything bad but I just read it and half of it makes no sense.

Well try out Cybershy's plan, then if that doesn't work we can still wait for the patch to be released or we can go another route; according to Moker there are optimum port settings for Civ IV, so if we find them (he assures me someone posted them somewhere on this site) we can just change our port settings to match (in the event that we have to at least).

The people having the most problems connecting should be the ones who show up to this connection test session (or whatever it is). I think that would be Deity, Ozzy, Kuno and LzPrst. I hope this works.

                  Peace.

                  PS - I concur with Cybershy's optimism.

                  • Hi, my name is NicodaMax. For reasons unexplained I've stumbled on this thread and I was very intreagued by the concept of a game based on diplomacy.
Are these games played online? direct ip? at a prearanged time? I'd be interested in knowing more and eventually participating in such games.

                    • Yes, direct IP, we play on Friday evenings EST. 6 to 9 I think.

We haven't started yet, so there may still be a chance to get in on it if we need mroe players.

                          • Like Ozzy said, we play fridays from 23.00-02.00 GMT, 18.00-21.00 EST

Right now there are 9 players, if you join us there are 10:

                            The Capo
                            OzzyKP
                            LzPrst
                            LzPrst's friend
                            Dragon
                            Kunojilym
                            Deity
                            Nolan
                            NicodaMax
                            CyberShy

The game will take weeks or months.
The idea is that there's rollplaying involved. We take the time for the game. Have a lot of (diplo) conversations. Most of them as well during the week! (we'll start a seperated thread for that). You play to win (of course) but be prepared to face a lot of people who're going to try to get involved with your politics. "You're not allowed to build a city there, that spot belongs to my ally player x" or "why do you have that many units in your city, do you have aggressive plans?"

Of course you can ignore that all, and be a loner who's facing the rest of the world. It's better though to have some good allies!
The fun of this game is that diplomatic talking actually works! You may be able to 'convert' your neighbour to your alliance or your religion. Talk someone out of a plotted war against you.

I saw that you're 'ready' to join our game already, concidering our connectivity problems, that's good!

Plz let us know if you'll join us or not.
