this is the second time i've abandoned an ok party for the sake of this game. and the second time it hasnt worked. I am starting to lose hope. the fault is of course with the evil developers who base everything on their own great knowledge of how networking works, leaving us idiots who actually are meant to play the game to be stuck in the middle of no-game zone.
at least world of warcraft works with a few thousand people online at the time. why dont civ?

Alright, things haven't been going exactly how everyone wanted them to lately. But I have to make a comment, and at the risk of sounding like an ******* here it is...
Boo-****ing-hoo LzPrst. Nobody is MAKING you play the game, I understand it is discouraging, but you were also (if I do remember correctly) in the "let's just start" camp. It seems now, more than ever, that we must wait for the patch in order to play this game.
Whether or not we are actually waiting for the patch (I don't know if we are allowed to discuss our OTHER opportunity in public or not) is not the issue. I know it sucks to miss parties, nobody is denying that, but the point is simply that you have the option of playing. Nobody is making you play, so if you are going to complain in such a manner then you can go ahead and leave. Nobody needs you in the game to play it, and that's the attitude we are going to have to have. The reason why is simple; I refuse to allow one player to ruin this game.
I know it sounds harsh, and any of you who have known me here at Apolyton for a while would (hopefully) realize I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just trying to be real.
With that said, we must come to terms with a simple fact that should have dawned on us MONTHS ago; THIS GAME IS NOT READY TO BE PLAYED ONLINE. And for the lot of you out there who are going to tell me "But Capo I play plenty of MP games and nothing happens." Those people can kiss my ass. If this game were ready to be played online it wouldn't be an isolated incident that either (a) people can play or (b) people can't. It would either work or not work. So you can spare me your tales of successful games, because they are pointless anecdotes that only worsen a situation. The game doesn't work online, so let's not pretend like it does. It hasn't so far, and it doesn't now.
With that said, our only hope is this new patch. We don't have the release date yet, and we don't know exactly whether or not the patch is going to work. So as of now our options are simple; we wait for the patch or we don't play.
I would rather wait for the patch.
And again, LzPrst I'm sorry, but if you have better things to do with your time do them.
