It's just something general to look at. I mainly use it during MP games as a guideline when I get sidetracked by early fighting. If I haven't done it by turn 170-190, I know I'm usually in trouble and about to get pounded.

I'm thinking go for mining/masonry/bw first as Suleiman, build the pyramids, use the free engineer for the wall, get the army built, and then fight while researching towards philosophy to finish the combo off (and potentially pick up a religon to set up a great merchant city... I'm a big fan of NE+Wall Street holy cities)
If nothing else, that style is so different from my usual game that it holds some real appeal. All I can't figure out a plan for ahead of time is my legal and economic civics.
Two early wonders is a pretty tall order though, it seems reliant on stone to even have a shot.
For Legal, Bureaucracy is good if you want to cottage your capital (yes, in a SE) maybe put Wall Street there. Otherwise I'd probably do Nationhood or Barbarism to keep expenses low if nothing else (and Nationhood gets you a little happy).
For Economy, Mercantilism is ideal since most of the AIs will probably be pissed off at you so little trade anyway.

Augustus would remove the philosophical part of the equation. There's several good traits but you can only have two. Praets would certainly make the promotions easy to get, but still. Maybe the next time I try it I'll experiment with him. It's all just variations on the same general idea.

Though, certainly you could do it with any leader, there's just no overt synergy with the Warlord mechanic. You're compensated for the lack of synergy with some other trait of course.
The same is true of SE. You don't have to have PHI to do it.

i guess your view of the world is when people show confidence in themselves they are acting macho and/or cocky
But I do look forward to seeing the comparisons with your game. I may learn something.

If you read everyone else's posts in this thread you will notice that everyone seems to agree with me. But you're right, it's just an opinion.
And remembering you're still on prince has nothing to do with my patience, experimenting can be done on every level. I'm happy to see that you don't consider yourself the best since it's pretty obvious. I would prefer that you take suggestions for what they are, and not as insults. You're do seem to be a bit over sensitive. But if you do insult people, please expect to be insulted back. War gamers can be expected to be pompous bragging asses. It comes with the territory.
and there are others who agree with me, ive seen that you neglected that part

If I understand correctly the OP uses these settings:
- Gigantic Map with continents (no early competition at all from the AI, no need to strategically REX)
- No espionage (eliminates a critical part of the challenge of the game...almost makes the game 20% easier)
- No tech trading/brokering (pretty much eliminates a huge facet of trading and of exploring to meet rival facets soon)
I think just about anyone can be a "pro" with those setting. In essence it means:
- don't worry about wars/diplo/trading until astronomy -- tech tech tech and casually expand.
- don't worry about the AI trading for techs amongst each other and building up strong diplomatic ties.
- don't worry about spies destroying resources, stealing techs, poisoning wells, etc.
Here is a challenge for the OP:
Instead of raising the difficulty level from noble to prince, or whatever, try slowly changing one of your starting settings to eventually get to:
* Map: Large, tectonics, 60% water
* Start with only tech trading turned off, tech brokering allowed; once you have gotten the hang of that, turn tech trading on.
* Enable Espionage
Bragging about being a "pro" with all the challenging factors turned off or setup in your favor is very cheezy, but mostly exposes you for the n00b you are.
as far as your insults and opinions, nobody really cares what you say or your butt buddies except yourselves. trying to degrade and/or belittle someone is childish and you will never change people that way. if you cant respect persons differences and insist on your own conclusions as far as what people think and/or do then maybe you need to work on your people skills, its kinda funny you wouldnt be insulting me in person yet your doing it online
