In my current game, my Horse Archers don't do flanking damage. Even attacking a stack of only catapults didn't cause any damage to other catapults (yes, all of them but one was at full health). Have anyone else seen this? I might take it up in Solver's unofficial patch thread instead as I'm using his patch also.

Flanking damage never occurs when they are in a city.
Otherwise, it seems to happen occasionally. I haven't gotten a handle yet on what the conditions must be.

I´m not exactly sure how this is supposed to work ... but so far my experience is that flaking does not always seem to occur when the unit beeing the direct target of the attack ia a siege weapon.
For instance if you attack an axeman with a horse archer and win or retreat, then catapults in that stack gets damaged.
If there is only catapults in a stack however, I have experienced that the other catapults are not receiving flanking damage.GOWIEHOWIE! Uh...does that
even mean anything?

Just a note: To do flanking damage the horse unit must win the fight. If the unit dies in the attack or retreats to survive, then no flanking damage. Sometimes folk forget the winning requirement, hitting a stack on a hill, retreating, then wondering where the flanking damage went. That damage comes after the defending unit is crushed and the horsemen break into the rear. Other than that is the horse units are specific to the type they will flank, although one of the patches addressed units backward.

Cuir/Cav - Cannon.
The update let Cav/Cuir also flank Treb and Cat. If all this is known already or met as a condition, then you have a bug.No matter where you go, there you are. - Buckaroo Banzai

Other factors I've seen:
1. It seems to be a random number of such units. Probably implemented as a chance to attack each such unit. So if their aren't very many of them it may well be zero that time.
2. However, There is no max damage to flank damage so you can wipe out multiple units via it.1st C3DG Term 7 Science Advisor 1st C3DG Term 8 Domestic Minister

Any chance that the 3.17 patch changed graphics code so that on my computer switching to global view would crash the game and my computer?
I switched to global view by using first the mouse wheel, then second time by using F11. Each time the view would zoom out until the main screen would be in the closest global view (the point where you start to see clouds), but would not switch the buttons in the lower right to the global view options (cultural view, strategy layer, etc.). It just stuck there. First time I had to shut down my computer. Second time I waited. I took a shower. I made lunch. I played with my son. I checked back, and the screen saver was on. I thought that that was a good sign, moved the mouse, and saw an error from my graphics card warning me that windows was going to ask me to send an error report, and I should say yes. I did so, and after some more walking around/waiting, Civ had shut down, leaving my computer in 640x480 and 4 bit (I had never even heard of 4 bit, but it looked like 16 color to me. I restarted the computer, and it acted like nothing had ever been wrong. So I started this post.
My graphics card is an ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 (yes, I use a laptop to play), my normal settings are 1024x768, 32 bit color. I have not changed graphics settings, nor made any updates, since the last time I used global view on 3.13 (about 2 or 3 days ago). Of course, there may have been automatic windows updates, but I have not been monitoring those. I use windows xp pro service pack 3. My game graphics settings are as follows: (I have not yet figured out how to attach screen shots to a post) Screen Resolution 1024x768, anti aliasing 2, the rest are set at high. The only three boxes that are checked are full screen, high detail terain, and show city radius. I realize that my graphics settings are very high, and my next step is to obviously lower them, but they didn't seem to be a problem in 3.13.
What other information might someone need to diagnose me? Or know for certain that it really is the patch?
