Why are his teeth so straight? Do the Mayans have the Orthodontist's Office as their UB?
Because all the snaggle-toothed killers in Civ3 and associated XPs were scaring people away from the franchise.
Would you rather he looked like this mongrel?

You won't be seeing it so large in the game where that kind of detail would be of minimal importance.

BTW Solver, IGN has posted this screenshot of an angry, angry leaderhead: http://media.pc.ign.com/media/896/89...g_4551143.html
without saying who it is. It's of course not any of the officially announced leaders. I believe I already know who it is (you can figure it out by looking at where he is and what he's wearing).
The IGN guy who wrote it posted at the other site we don't mention that it's Pacal of the Mayas.

You'd be surprised at the wide range of skills among those hardcore fans. The ones that work directly with the developers aren't all picked because they're the best skilled players - there's a wide range of people and skills there, really.
I'm surprised how little Poly and the site we don't mention actually represents Civ. There sooooo many more Civ groups out there than us and Firaxis took the best of us from all areas, right Solver?

There's a new letter from the Prez on Firaxis' website. No real info, but he does call BtS "truly our best expansion pack ever."
Not to be the cynic, but when does a company prez not call something "the best game/expansion ever" in a press release?
'There is a greater darkness than the one we fight. It is the darkness of the soul that has lost its way. The war we fight is not against powers and principalities, it is against chaos and despair. Greater than the death of flesh is the death of hope, the death of dreams. Against this peril we can never surrender. The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain.'"

The longhouse is a regular house, that's like making the American UB an apartment building, the British one a cottage or the Indian one a bungalow. That's just an architectural description of Iroquois living quarters. Buildings in civilization represent specific services available in a city, like a market, castle or library. Not residential housing.
It was indeed residential housing, but one that actually was unique (hell, Haudenosaunee means People of the Longhouses). One of the things that it fostered was a sense of community. They can find a way to put it in there. It's a far more unique building than say a Mali 'Mint' is.
Which brings up another good point: the Iroquois didn't have cities...
Neither did Zulu, or for that matter, the Mongolian horde (at least the way we think of cities).
Indeed, they are a people, not some kind of military unit or weapon the way Legions, Berserkers or Cho-Ku-Nu are. A Mohawk Warrior is like having a Roman Swordsman or a Chinese Archer. It's not an actual unique unit, just a named one.
Or an Inca Quecha (which is the name for the Inca language really)? Or an Indian Fast Worker?
Not actually UU's, just named ones.
And as a specific unique historic entity AFAIK the term Mohawk Warriors mostly if not exclusively refers to a modern protest group that was formed in the 1960s, not some ancient warrior class.
That's a different use. The Mohawk were known as the most ferocious fighters of the Five (then Six) Tribes. The Keepers of the Eastern Door for the Haudenosaunee.
